Chapter Eleven - Developing feelings

TW: mentions of mental health issues.

(Also, not a TW lol but this part contains spoilers for the 'Star Wars' spinoff movie, 'Rogue One', so be warned lol)

"Movie night." I smiled and looked down at Peter as I stood in front of the sofa. He squinted his eyes as he looked at me from his seat on the cushions.

"Come again?" he chuckled.

"I suggest that we have a movie night. There have been some real classics come out recently, and since you've been a hermit crab for the last five years, you won't have seen any of them. So, I suggest that we sit down and watch all of my favourites so that you can get caught up." I nodded as I sat next to him. He chuckled and looked at me.

"I don't know, Y/N. Don't you have work tomorrow?" he asked.

"I don't, actually, that's exactly why I suggested that we do it tonight. You've got no excuse, Parker." I smirked and shook my head. He smiled and bit his lip.

"Alright, alright, we can have a movie night." He nodded, laughing as I squealed in excitement. My squeal died down as I looked at him.

"We could ask May if she wants to join us too, if you wanted." I suggested tentatively. Peter's smile dipped slightly and he sighed as he looked at me.

"I'm not quite ready yet. I don't know, I'm still a little scrawny, still need to build up a bit more until I'm the boy that she used to know. I'm not there yet." He shook his head.

"That's okay, Pete." I reassured as I gently took his hand. He nodded and looked at me, a small thanking smile on his lips as I turned the TV on.

"So, what movie are we starting with?" Peter asked as we sat down on the sofa and got comfortable with a blanket over our legs.

"'Rogue One'. It's a Star Wars spinoff, so I figured that you'd like it." I spoke. Peter groaned and threw his head back, making me look at him.

"Am I wrong?" I chuckled.

"It's just that spinoffs and remakes of classic franchises tend to ruin them. They should have stopped after the prequels that explain how Darth Vader came to be a villain." He shrugged.

"I think that 'Rogue One' is actually okay. Then again, I'm not as much of a 'Star Wars' fan as you are." I chuckled.

"I don't know, Y/N. I recall that you were always my date to watch 'Star Wars' movies since MJ didn't like them." He smiled at me. I returned it and bit my lip, small butterflies fluttering in my stomach at Peter calling me his date. The butterflies increased as Peter put his arm over the back of the sofa, making his fingertips gently rest against my shoulder. He had only been back in my life for a few months, had only been moved in for a couple of those months and already I was starting to fall for him all over again. I was in trouble.

"So, are you ready for 'Star Wars' to be potentially ruined for you?" I chuckled and bit my lip.

"Have at it." He smiled, making me laugh and nod as I pressed "play".

Peter and I sat on the sofa, eyes glued to the screen as we reached the end of 'Rogue One'. Peter's hand against my back hadn't moved at all during the movie, and somehow my legs had ended up over his lap, meaning that we were as physically close as we could be. I looked up at Peter and couldn't help but smile as he watched the movie with wide eyes.

"As if they're actually going to kill off every character." He scoffed and shook his head.

"Wait and see." I shrugged. His eyes widened as we reached the end of the movie.

"What?! NO! Why the fuck did they kill everyone off?!" he exclaimed.

"I guess that not all movies have a happy ending after all." I chuckled. He returned it and shook his head as he looked at me.

"You were right, though. It was good, overall, I enjoyed it." He smiled.

"I'm glad." I returned before my lips parted into a yawn.

"You tired? You want to call it a night?" he asked as he gently put his hand on my thigh over the blanket. I looked at him and cursed myself over the fact that I was getting flustered by the smallest move that he made. Those feelings only further confirmed that I was past seeing Peter as just a best friend.

"N-no, I'm fine, I have enough in me for one more. Anyway, I'll sleep when I'm dead." I shrugged, making him chuckle.

"Alright, I'm going to grab some more snacks." Peter nodded as he moved his arm from being around me and stood up.

"Okay." I returned, a yawn leaving my lips and my eyelids starting to feel heavy as I lay down on the sofa and allowed my eyes to flutter shut.

Peter's P.O.V

Peter stood in the kitchen, pouring potato chips and chocolate buttons into two separate bowls. He took one in each hand and started to walk through to the living room.

"Okay, so I got-." Peter immediately stopped talking as he saw Y/N, asleep on the sofa. His lips curled into a smile as he looked at the beautiful girl sleeping. Bless her, He thought. Peter had known that she was tired, but he didn't know that she was that tired. He gently put the bowls onto the coffee table, trying to be quiet enough to not wake her as he crouched down beside her and just looked at her sleeping face. He bit his lip, the smile still on his face as he gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Peter had been living with Y/N for a couple of months now, and in that time, he had found himself starting to look at her as more than just his best friend. He was starting to look at her as someone who he was falling in love with. After all, she had so far kept her promise of being right by his side through everything. She'd been by his side for the week that his withdrawals had been at their worst, she'd bought him a gym membership to start getting his weight and muscles up again, she still wasn't letting him pay a single dime in rent. She was doing everything that she could to help him continue to recover both physically and mentally, and he was falling in love with her all over again because of it. Peter stood up fully before leaning down and gently hooking his arms behind Y/N's back and under her legs so that he could pick her up. He stood up fully, Y/N's nose resting against his neck as he carried her into her bedroom. He gently placed her down against her sheets, his fingers moving to carefully take the slippers off of her feet before placing the covers over the girl's stunning figure.

"Sleep well, beautiful." He whispered as he leant down and gently pecked her head before standing up and leaving the room.
