- Chapter Two -
I'm glad you're all enjoying it so far! At least, I think you are. Hopefully this chapter isn't too boring.
Enjoy!

When Logan arrived at school that morning, a considerable amount of time before the first bell, he made his way straight to the office to hand in money for an excursion that was happening later that week. When he handed it in, he didn't expect to be greeted with some..quite different news than he was used too.
"Oh, Logan. Hi, we have a favour to ask of you. So tomorrow there will be a new student joining us, and since you're quite a trustworthy student we've noticed, we thought you would be up to the job of just helping him get used to his first few days here," The office lady explained, "Because, as you might imagine, he's joining almost halfway through the school year and will be quite lost. You just need to help him get used to where all the classes are, help him read his timetable, all of that. Do you think you'd be able to do that?"
Logan thought for a second, before nodding slowly. "Yeah, I..should be able to do that. Will I be meeting up with tomorrow then? How will I know where and when he will arrive?"
"You just need to come to the office when you get to school, he'll be meeting here as well, no need to worry."
"Okay. I look forward to meeting him." Logan paused, "Is there any other news?"
"No, that's all." The lady smiled, "You can go now."
Logan walked out, sighing quietly to himself and looking down at his feet. Why did he say yes? Sure, he was doing well in classes, but that doesn't mean he's good at communication and meeting new people. What if he doesn't make the new kid feel welcomed? What if he gives off the wrong impression? What if, like most of his first encounters with meeting people, the new kid thinks he's really cold and heartless?—
Logan took a deep breath, calming himself down before he descended into a full blown panic. He would handle this like he does with everything else; logically. Well, actually, that might not work for this scenario.. Logic might not work when meeting someone new, but that was his only way of working out things. It's helping a kid settle into to the school, not science or math homework that can be solved quite easily. Also, he had no clue on how to prepare, because he didn't know what he would be like. He didn't know whether they'd be really happy and bouncy, shy and cold, loud and annoying, how was he supposed to know?
Logan's thinking was, after a while, put to rest when he told himself that he would figure it out on the day. There was no point in stressing out over something that isn't happening right now. He'll deal with that problem when it comes too it. For now, though, he needed to go to the library to start on some homework, before getting ready for his first class of the day, History.

The next morning, despite his calm, nonchalant expression, Logan was internally freaking out. He had become a master at not showing too much of what he was feeling, so it wasn't too unnatural or different for him. He also knew there was no reason to be worried, he was just showing some kid around a school, not talking to the president. But sadly that thought didn't calm his nerves, as he continued to have completely irrational fears about this.
He arrived at the office once again, this time a few minutes earlier, and waited for the parent to finish talking to the office lady. He looked around, and despite what he was hoping, the new kid wasn't there already. They finished talking and walked away, and Logan walked up to her, about to ask something but she she started talking before he got the chance.
"Hello, Logan. Sadly, Patton is not here, but he should be here soon. You can just sit down over there and wait for him."
Logan nodded slowly, and went over to sit down. He got out his phone and looked through his time table for the day, then made sure he had all the books for the classes in his bag.
He knew the new kid —Patton— might be a bit late, considering this was his first day, but he didn't expect to be waiting for ten minutes for him to show up.
Logan stood up when he came in, a little bitter over how long it took him to finally show up. "Hi, I'm Logan. I'm assuming you're the one I'll be showing around?"
"Yeah, yeah. I'm Patton. I'm so sorry I'm late it was just–I overslept and I'm sorry." He rambled out nervously, looking quite worn out and panicked.
"It's fine," Logan said simply, aside from the fact that it was not fine. He arrived late and kept Logan waiting and his only excuse was that he 'overslept'. "So would you like to start the tour around the school now?"
Patton nodded slowly, and followed as Logan walked out the office and into the, now loud and full of people, halls. A few people looked over at them, but they returned to their conversations almost immediately after. No one cared at all.
And that wasn't bad.
Logan started walking up the hall, after taking Patton's wrist so he didn't somehow get lost at all. They passed a lot of classrooms, all the while Logan was explaining what subject each one had, but he spoke quite fast, Patton realised, so he was having only a little trouble keeping up with all the new information. Eventually, he just grew used to nodding whenever he heard Logan's voice as he looked around trying to figure everything out himself. It wasn't like he didn't appreciate him explaining things, it was just that..he talked way too fast and Patton couldn't understand it when he did.
After 15 minutes of all this, the bell for the first class rang, causing Patton to flinch at the loud sound. Logan turned to him, "What's do you have first?"
"Uhhhh.." Patton's eyes went wide and he quickly took off his backpack, searching through it for his timetable. "I, um... I don't..know," He said nervously, looking up at him.
Logan gave him a blank stare, "Are you kidding me? Didn't you get it from the office? Or before you came to school?" He hissed, gesturing in the direction of the office. Patton shook his head hesitantly in response, slightly shrinking away from him.
"I'm gonna be late to class because of this..." Logan muttered under his breath, sighing heavily and beginning to make his way back to collect Patton's timetable.
Logan thanked the lady as she handed it to him, before going out and handing it to Patton. The halls were empty, as everyone was already in their classes. "Here. Now do you need me to help you find where it is?"
Hesitantly, Patton nodded as he read through the timetable for the day. Logan ran a hand through his hair, a thing he generally did when he was frustrated, before nodding a little himself and guiding Patton over to where the classroom was. He said goodbye, Patton went in, and he stood there for a second before racing to make it to his class. Luckily, he knew the teacher for his maths class quite well and hopefully he would understand why he was late.
Hopefully.
