"Good evening, Illèa!" Sebastian greeted, "Here we are at the most awaited part of the evening, The Selection updates!"
We smiled brightly at the cameras. Elena was taking deep breaths, seemingly nervous. I took her hand and squeezed it reassuringly and she squeezed it back. In front of me were Gayle, Carmel, Irene, Isabella, Clover and Leigh. I'm not even surprised they took those seats. In the second row was me, Louise, Elena, Daphne, Catherine, and Diana. Behind me were Claire, Julianne, Mary, Harriet, Christine, and Bloom.
We were getting smaller and smaller in numbers.
"Prince Thornton! How do you feel tonight?" Sebastian asked.
He smiled, "Spectacular, Sebastian. I can't wait to hear their answers on the interview today."
I felt anxious at his answer. What did they do?
Sebastian returned the smile, "So do I, your highness."
Tony smirked but only I recognized it as that. Oh goodness, I have a bad feeling about this.
"Let's start the interview now!" Sebastian declared, "Let's have it alphabetically arranged so it would be fun. First up is Lady Elena Avalore of Zuni!"
I smiled at Elena as she took a deep breath before walking to the middle where Sebastian was waiting with a chair on his side. She sat down on the spare chair and smiled.
"Good evening, Sebastian." She greeted.
He nodded, "Good evening to you too, Lady Elena. So, tell me, how's the selection going?"
She smiled, "Alright. I mean, the girls are still nice, the prince is nice, the palace is nice." She shrugged with a smile, "Everything's nice."
Sebastian chuckled, "Well then, how many dates have you gone on with the prince?"
Elena's cheeks flushed, "Three."
"Have you kissed?"
I gasped a little. Why would they ask that? Then I remembered our kiss. The kiss where he thought I was asleep. I blushed slightly at that thought.
Elena turned redder, "No, we haven't."
He pouted, "Why not?"
"I don't know."
"Anyway, let's move to the juicy stuff." He said, "Are there really fights happening with the selected?"
I was stunned but I didn't let it show.
Elena nodded, "There have been fights, 2 to be exact."
"So there really was a fight. If I'm not wrong, the first fight included former Lady Beatrice and Lady Haidee."
Elena nodded, "It was horrible."
"Do you know the rumors spreading about Lady Haidee being a fake?"
Elena looked shocked and she glanced at me before shaking her head. I didn't meet her gaze.
"Fake? Why would she be fake?" She asked.
He shrugged, "It was in the article."
"I don't know what's stated in that article but I can certainly say that she isn't fake, Sebastian."
"Tell me, Lady Elena. Who started the fight?"
"Beatrice."
Sebastian smiled, "Let's ask the other Selected. Thank you for your time, Lady Elena."
Elena curtsied before coming back to her seat beside me, "What was the article about?"
I shook my head, "I don't want to talk about it."
"Next up is Lady Diana Carps of Paloma! But let's have Lady Mary Harrington of Sonage first." He said and caused the audience to chuckle.
Mary went to the seat and greeted Sebastian with a curtsy, "Good evening, Sebastian."
He smiled, "Good evening, Lady Mary. Talk about your love life first."
Mary laughed, "I've been on four dates with him and no, we haven't kissed."
Sebastian pouted again, "No fun. Anyway, do you think you can be an elite?"
"Honestly?" She started, "No. I don't think so."
"Why not?"
She shrugged, "I just feel like I'm not going to be in the Selection anytime sooner."
"Let's get back to this question again. Who started the fight of Lady Beatrice and Lady Haidee?"
"Beatrice. Anyone here would say the same thing."
I saw Gayle fuming. She certainly did not like that they were saying that her friend is a witch. I was so sure that if she was the first that was questioned, she would have said that I was the one who started it.
My eyes widened in realization. So that's why it was alphabetical! So that she would be forced to say the truth. If it was by seating arrangement, it would have turned bad for me.
"Are you sure, Lady Mary?"
She nodded, "Yes, Sebastian. In fact, I still remember what she said to Haidee."
"Really? Do tell."
She cleared her throat, "She slapped her then said 'Why is it a tie?!' then I can't remember if she slapped Haidee again or Haidee said something. But she said, 'I told you to win didn't I?' Then Haidee said that they did win."
Sebastian nodded, "What did she say?"
"She didn't say anything. But Harmonia did. She said that they did win but with those losers. Then a lot of slapping and pinching later, Claire arrived, almost harming them but Haidee stopped her." Mary said and I would have laughed at the way she told the story if it wasn't about me or broadcasted to the whole country.
Sebastian nodded, "Are there other fights besides that?"
Mary paused to think, "Yes. But I don't know what happened at first."
Sebastian nodded once again, "Then I'll ask somebody else. I won't let a great fight pass from me. I need all the juicy stories. Thank you, Lady Mary."
Mary smiled and glanced at Tony who smiled back, "It was a pleasure, Sebastian."
She walked back to us and I saw her smile at my friends behind me. I glanced at them and saw Claire give a thumbs up. What?
"Now let us have Lady Diana Carps of Paloma who was delayed because of me!"
Chuckles erupted in the room. Diana playfully rolled her eyes at Sebastian as she sat down. He asked her the same questions and she answered that she jad gone on five dates, he hasn't kissed her, Mary told the truth and that she was too far away to hear what happened at first.
"Next up is Lady Julianne Evans of Clermont and not Lady Haidee Eudora of Angeles because I said so!" Sebastian stated with aa playful smile.
I chuckled, "Why do you keep doing this?"
He shrugged, "Because I want to. So, Lady Julianne! How are you?"
Julianne smiled, "Great. How are you?"
"I'm great too! So how many dates have you gone on?"
"Four, same as Mary."
"Have you kissed?" He asked.
She shook her head, "No. He's quite a gentleman."
He pouted and looked at Tony, "Have you not kissed a single one?"
Tony chuckled and winked, "That's a secret."
Sebastian smirked, "So you have?"
Tony's cheeks reddened but he was so good at conceiling his emotions that only his family and I noticed, "It's . . . complicated." He stated.
Sebastian was confused but he didn't press further, "So anyway, Lady Julianne. Who started the fight between Lady Haidee and Lady Beatrice?"
"Beatrice." She answered.
"Do you know the reason of why the second fight started?" He asked.
She nodded, "But I wasn't there so I won't say anything. I'll leave Claire to explain since she was the first one to see it."
Sebastian smiled, "Thank you for your time, Lady Julianne. Now let's have Lady Clover Fray of Bankston and have Lady Haidee Eudora at the very end!"
Laughs erupted again and I couldn't help but smile and roll my eyes.
Clover walked to the front and answered the questions. Thankfully, she wasn't asked about the second fight, to her dismay. She said she's been on three dates, they haven't kissed, and saidㅡmore like forced outㅡthat Beatrice started it.
Daphne was next and she said she's been on two dates, haven't kissed, Beatrice started it, and she didn't know what happened. Carmel said she went on six dates. Catherine said she went on three. Irene practically bragged about her five dates. Louise and Isabella were next and they answered the questions.
"Lady Bloom! How's your love life?"
She smiled, "It's been lovely, Sebastian. I've been on seven dates actually but we haven't kissed."
"Beatrice or Haidee?"
"Beatrice."
"Do you know anything about the second fight?"
She nodded, "Yes, actually. I was sitting near them that time. Haidee was seated in the seat that was nearest to the queen with four other chairsㅡ"
"Wait. So Lady Haidee is included again?" Sebastian asked.
Bloom nodded, "I guess trouble really likes her." She joked, "Anyway, Margarette approached her with Leigh and Clover. Margarette told her to move out of the seat so they can sit down. Haidee didn't want to and told them to look for another seat because she got there first. Margarette said that they wanted the seat nearest to the queen so they wanted her out of there. Still, Haidee didn't want to move out because she was sitting there with her friends. Then her friends came to the rescue. They had an argument but Haidee said that they'd just go look for another seat. Then they argued again and I saw Haidee being pushed to the floor. Claire almost hurt Margarette but Haidee told her not to. One of her friends helped her up but they fought again. I'm not sure if it was Margarette but she grabbed her forcefully on her arm. Then Madame Lourdes entered to inform that the queen was approaching."
Sebastian nodded, "Where is Lady Margarette now?"
"She was sent home."
"How?" Sebastian asked.
Bloom shrugged, "Someone must have told Zeke."
Everyone turned silent. We looked at her and that was when she realized it.
"I'm sorry. I meant Prince Thornton."
Sebastian smirked, "Does that mean the two of you are close?"
Bloom reddened, "I guess?"
"Thank you for your time, Lady Bloom. Now let us have Lady Christine Ramirez of Lakedon!"
After Christine was Gayle who bragged about her six dates. Next was Leigh and she also wasn't asked about the second fight. Then, it was Claire's turn. I don't even want to repeat her side of the story. It was so exaggerated. Although I knew she didn't exaggerate her 8 dates. She was second among all of us, it wasn't surprising.
It was almost my turn but I didn't know how many dates we've been on. And by date I mean a real date. Not a time where it's only the two of us.
Harriet was next and she said she's been on four dates. So far, no one has said anything anout a kiss, much to Sebastian's dismay.
"Now, let's have Lady Haidee Eudora of Angeles who has been waiting for ages!"
I chuckled as I walked to the chair, "Good evening, Sebastian."
"Good evening, Lady Haidee. I hope you haven't been on a fight with anyone else?" He said which sounded like a question.
I smiled, "I haven't, thankfully."
"How many dates now, Lady Haidee?"
"Um . . ." I muttered before shrugging, "I actually don't know. It's not like I count it."
He laughed, "I get your point. So since you're the last girl, I'm assuming you got the first kiss?"
My whole face turned hot and I unconsciously glanced at Tony who was as red at me, "No." I replied, "No, I did not."
He looked disappointed and turned to Tony, "Was the girl you kissed a girl who was eliminated?"
Tony shook his head, "No. If I did however, she would have stayed here."
"A ghost perhaps?" Sebastian asked.
Tony laughed, "No."
"So that means you never kissed someone?"
Tony winked, "That's a secret."
Sebastian sighed, "I guess we won't know who got the kiss."
I laughed awkwardly but they didn't notice. I got that kiss! I wanted to shout.
"Since everyone else told the story about the fights, I want you to tell me the story about how the engagement party and the Halloween ball went."
"That's a lot," I said, "The engagement party was amazing. The Selected and I performed a dance, Julianne, Claire and I sang a song for the couple, and I sang a duet with the Prince."
"Did you now?" Sebastian asked with a smirk, "How was the duet."
"Before I get to that, I would like to say that Julianne Evans and Claire Venice are great singers. I'd be a fan if they were stars." I said. Hopefully, Julianne's parents were listening and would allow her to pursue her dream.
"How was the duet?" He repeated.
"It was nice. He has a great voice, actually." I smiled, "A very nice experience."
"Were you the only one to sing with him?" He asked.
I shrugged, "In the party, yes, but in other dates or events, I don't know."
Sebastian looked at Tony, "Have you had a duet with another person?"
Tony paused to think, "Yesㅡwait I don't think so. Lady Julianne, did we sing a duet in the play?"
"No we did not." Julianne answered.
"Then no. I did not." Tony said.
Sebastian smirked, "I knew you were special. So, how was the Halloween ball?"
"It was splendid. We met the extended members of the royal family and their friends. They were quite nice."
"Who were nice?" Sebastian asked.
"Quite a lot. There's Grace and Abigail Singer, Aino and Aimo Koskinen, And . . ." I looked at Tony to ask for permission to mention their names. He nodded, "Earl and Twain." I replied.
"In just a day you became close with six people?" Sebastian asked.
"Oh, not only me, though. Claire, Christine, Harriet and Julianne also met them." I replied.
"What else happened?" He asked.
Tony and I fought, "Well, we danced and it was a great night."
"That's all?" He asked.
I nodded.
He sighed, "I wanted something juicy like the two of you kissing or fighting over jealousy."
I glanced at Tony and we almost laughed, "Oh no. Nothing like that at all." I lied with a smile.
"The ball was uneventful," Sebastian stated.
"Oh, trust me. It was pretty eventful." I said.
"Thank you for your time, Lady Haidee." He said and I curtsied before walking back to my seat.
I saw my friends' teasing smiles and rolled my eyes at them.
