                              Five's POV

I stared at the dark sky through the window in my bedroom, a glass of scotch in my hand. Y/n was already asleep, her body covered with the silly duvet on my bed that now smelled like her. Fuck, I could never forget the scent of her. The scent engraved deeply in my soul. I peeked at her, sipping my drink. She looked so beautiful when she was sleeping. So innocent. I wanted to sneak back into the bed and hold her body in my arms, but I couldn't. I get guilty and couldn't stop thinking about the conversation I'd have earlier with my brothers. Their voices rang in my ears, and I was trying to muffle it with the sharp flavor of the strong liquor. I'd expected they would be would furious after I proposed to Y/n against their will. Especially Diego, he demanded I follow the plan or make Y/n our ally in are twisted war against dad. I wanted neither, but he threatened he would tell Y/n the truth. The truth about our plan, the truth about my initial intentions. toward her, and I felt guilty for not confessing the truth yet. I knew I had to do it because I didn't want to continue building our relationship on a constant lie, yet I couldn't bring myself to tell her the truth. I was scared I would lose her and didn't want to let her go. She was like a drug to me, and I got addicted. I knew if I ever lost her, I wouldn't be able to fill the void after her.

My phone pinged, snapping me out of my thoughts. I peeked at Y/n to check if it woke her, but she only made a cute sound, stretching as she turned to the other side, still asleep. I walked over to my nightstand drawer and reached for the phone.

From: Wyatt

PURPLE

Sent Monday 1:39 AM

I took a deep breath before finishing the scotch. Purple was our code for completing a task that still needed my call. I figured my men probably caught the perp responsible for the shooting at the event, and I knew I had to leave now. I sat on the bed, caressing Y/n's hair.

"I'll be back soon, baby," I whispered, leaving a soft kiss on her forehead.

"Mm-hmm," she muttered, her eyes closed.

I wasn't sure if she heard me, but I hoped I'd get back before she woke up. I went to one of my closest where I kept my equipment and clothes for such occasions. I quickly changed into a black turtleneck and a bulletproof leather jacket before I grabbed my gun and left.

꧁-----------------------------------------------꧂

"Well, well, well," I said, slowly walking toward Ax, the leader of one of the gangs in New York, and Angeline, his partner in crime and lover. "What a pleasure to see you both." I smirked sarcastically, tilting my head to the side as I watched them.

Wyatt and my men under him locked Ax and Angelina in one of our buildings underneath. It was where we dealt with our enemies or simply executed them. They were both cuffed with their hands above their heads, tied to the ceiling. The place was all concrete and dark with a duel-head floodlight on a stand directed at the captives it's intense light blinding them.

Wyatt already questioned them  and established that Angelina was the one who shot Zachary. However, she refused to confess who had hired her and who her target was.

I sat by the steel table, throwing my gun on it. "Let's cut to the chase. I value my time. Tell me." I paused, circling the gun on the cold steel top. "Who hired you, and who are you after, and I may spare one of you."

"Angelina, don't say anything," Ax hissed, breathing heavily.

Although Ax was the leader of his gang, I always considered Angelina a more dangerous person then her lover. He might've been considered the head leading the gang, but she was the neck turning the head.

I took my weapon in my hand and cocked it "Speck."

"Fuck you!" Angelina shouted before spitting on the floor.

It was too far to reach me, but it was enough to test my patience. I scoffed, slowly leaving my seat as I approached her. I looked her in her outraged eyes as I pulled the trigger, shooting Ax in his knee. The place filled with the sound of the gunshot, followed by a groan of pain. "Speak, or I'll put the next bullet in his head," I said sternly.

"Angelina, don't," the red-haired man pleaded as he turned his greyish eyes to his love. "He will kill me anyway."

I moved closer, putting my gun under Ax's chin and pressing it to his throat, my eyes on Angelina, who was close to breaking. "Who was your target?"

"Y/n Hargreeves," she uttered, looking at me pleadingly.

I let out a deep sigh, rage flowing through my veins. I clenched my teeth angrily. "You were supposed to kill my woman?"

"No, only kidnap her."

To me, it didn't change anything. I was breathing heavily, fighting the fury growing inside me.

"Who sent you?" I rasped, pressing the gun barrel under Ax's chin.

Angelina's lips were trembling, and tears started dripping down her face as she watched her man shitting his pants. "Reginald Hargreeves and Ben Hargreeves."

My blood ran cold. I looked at her with my eyes wide open. Shocked. I was suspecting that Reginald, even my own brother, thinking it was their twisted way to tear us apart, but I didn't think of her fucking ex.

Without batting an eye, I pulled the trigger, taking Ax's last breath. His blood splashed on my face. She was supposed to take my woman away from me, so I took her man away from her. Ruthless? No. That was the price for double-crossing a Hargreeves. I had no conscience when someone messed with my family, or even worse, my woman.

Angelina kept screaming and threatening me, but it was all a blur. I already had a plan forming in my head regarding Ben and dad. I looked at Wyatt, who was waiting for my orders. "Get me the phone number for Ben Hargreeves. Now," I rasped, commanding.

"What about her?" He glanced at Angelina, writhing against the chain she was cuffed to.

"Leave her here. I'll deal with her later."

I WIPED THE BLOOD fro my face and removed the jacket covered with blood before throwing it into my trunk. I looked over at the buildings, where I just had just arrive. The place had brought so many memories. Some of them pleasant, some others painful. I sauntered toward the Academy's entrance and knocked. It was dawn and so peaceful I could hear the nothing but silence. I rang the bell and knocked repeatedly. I finally heard a movement, and the door finally opened.

"Number Five" Reginald his darted between mine. "About time you come to your senses."

"Aren't you happy to see me?" I asked, my tone low.

"Not surprised at all." He adjusted himself. " I knew you would make your way back to your home."

I scoffed, walking past her. I knew this place by heart, so I headed to the living room, where I sat on the cream couch, spreading my arm on the backrest.

Dad watched me, baffled before sitting down on the match couch across from me. "Considering that you haven't answered my calls or emails for the past weeks, I assume something had happened. Otherwise, you wouldn't be here in the middle of the night."

"Clever as always " I said sarcastically. The truth was I didn't want to see that man ever again and if it weren't for him meddling into my life back in 1963, for leaving us to die, almost leaving us hope less, my foot would never come through the door of this house. "You know me, dad. I don't like wasting my time, so I'll get straight to the point." I got up and walked closer to him. She crosses his arms, watching me anxiously.

"Well, what is it?" His eyes darted between mine with uncertainty.

"Why did you hire someone to kidnap my fiancée?" I tilted my head to the side.

He cleared his throat before responding. "I don't know what you are talking about."

"Don't try to fool me," I scoffed. " I know everything. My men caught Ax and his queen. He's dead, by the way." I took a few steps toward Dad as I spoke, and he didn't even move until I got close enough.

"Everything was fine," he attempted, looking into my eyes with regret. "Untill you and your family come along into my timeline."

"Come alone?" I tilted my head to the side, and whispered, "You left us to die there, and now you choose to pretend we never even existed, and adopted a new set of kids." I moved back. The images from the horrible childhood me and family had. He was sick, and we could put him in jail for that, but instead I chose to live it and let the karma do it's job.

He gave me a confused look, "You brought that yourself, You and your family are pathetic. I would nev—"

"I don't care," I rasped. "All I want to know is why you did this and whose idea it was. You or Ben?"

Reginald gaze dropped, and he made his way to the bar to pour himself a drink. "It was his idea." He looked into my eyes again while smiling is drink. "He contracted me a while ago and made a plan to bring her back home, and the academy's." Reginald stated, and made his way closer to way. "And he said you didn't have any feeling for the girl and so... I thought we could do you a favor."

"Oh, for fuck's sake, did you fall for that?" I rolled my eyes, anger flooding my system. How the fuck did he believe him? But then again, I didn't give a shit. I was furious that he tired to kidnap Y/n. God knew what else Ben was plotting in his twisted mind. "It was you," I let out a heavy breath as I realized it must've been Dad doing that Angelina managed to get inside the event. "You helped Angelina pass the security, right?"

"You are correct on that, boy"

"For fuck's sake," I shouted.

"Took you long enough, and I thought the big man would noticed quickly than you."

"You thought you could force Y/n to come back here again?" I scoffed, irritated. "You and Ben deserve each other."

"This chemistry between you and my daughter, won't last Five. Trust me on that." Reginald spoke.

"Stay away from from my woman and me," I replied, heading out of the academy. "This is a warning."

I blink in my car, checked my phone, and started the car engine. I got a text from Wyatt with the number for Ben about an hour ago. I was boiling inside, and that pretty boy was lucky he was over 2700 miles away. I started a new conversation and typed a message.

To: Ben

I know everything. You're lucky you're in LA, or you'd be on your way to the hospital with broken bones now. If you ever try to touch my fiancé again, you're a dead man.
Yours truly, F.H.

I threw my phone onto the passenger seat and let out a deep sigh. I was tired of all the shit that had been coming up—on the same hand, I determined like never before to fight for my relationship with Y/n. I put my foot down, leaving the sound of the tires squealing as I drove away, heading to the only person that gave my life meaning I was hoping I'd arrive before she woke up, leaving the darkness of this behind. Now my only concern was confessing to Y/n the truth.

Only two more chapters left until the "The Breakup" is finished. I'm so upset.
