Y/n's POV
I woke up snuggled next to Five. I exhaled, and deeply, and suddenly the feeling of anxiety rushed through me. I rub my eye nervously as the events from the pervious night flashed before my eyes.
You can't be a blood donor, Miss Hargreeves. You're pregnant.
The doctor's voice kept echoing in my ears.
It's still a very early stage. Did you know about it?
Of course, I didn't. It was a shock for me. I felt dizzy and overwhelmed with the news. I played the past few weeks I'd spent with Five in my mind again and again like a tape on repeat. We had spontaneous, and we weren't protective many times, and there were chances I might have forgotten to take the pill. Pregnancy wasn't something I planned, at least not so early in my life, and most definitely, not so early in my relationship with Five. I didn't even know if he wanted children or how he would react. I wanted to tell him the first thing adapter I left the doctor's office, but my family surprised me with their not-so-pleasant visit. And later... I freaked out. I wanted to wait a few days to make sure it was true. I needed a few days to get used to that thought and decide what I would do about it.
"Are you awake?" Five growled as he turned his head to me. His heavy lids were still half-closed .
"Yeah," I said softly, indulging in the warmth of his skin.
"You."
I didn't see his face, but I could feel a smirk curling up his mouth. "I was thinking about you half of the night. I couldn't fall asleep."
I propped my elbow to look at him in the eyes, frowning. "Why? What were you thinking about?"
Five pulled up so that he was in a sitting position now before reaching out to his nightstand drawer. He looked down at the small velvet box he held in his hand and opened it slowly. I looked at the stunning diamond ring before casting my eyes upward, and our gazes locked. "At first, I thought it was never gonna. I thought love didn't exist. Until I met you, Y/n. You've proved me wrong. You've proved everything I believed didn't exist exists." Five took the ring out of the box and grabbed my hand. I felt my heart fluttering like crazy and butterflies dancing in my belly. A broad, genuine smile painted on my face as I looked into the eyes of the love of my life. "Marry me, Y/n."
I shook my head yes, chuckling through tears of happiness. "I will marry you, Five."
A broad grin formed on Five's face, and he slowly slid the glimmering oval-shaped ring on my finger before he brought my hand to his lips and kissed it. "I want to spend my life with you," he whispered, resting his forehead on mine. "I love you, Y/n. I have fallen in love with you, and there's no turning back for me."
"There's no turning back for either of us." I slid my hand at the back of his head, weaving my fingers through his hair. "Not at this stage. You're mine, and I'm yours. Forever."
Five moved his hand to the back of my head, pulling me in for a kiss. He slid the other one on my waist, flipping my body so he was on top of me. In just a short moment, we were in a heated tangle, kissing hungrily, burning with untamed lust, drowning in wolf desire.
AFTER AN INSANELY lovely morning, Five and I visited Zachary at the hospital. We entered one of the VIP rooms for Hargreeves, where Five had placed as if he were one of the family members. That was one of the reasons why I fell in love with that man. Despite being a 36 year old man in his teenage body.
I sat on the chair beside Five and next to Zachary's bed. I didn't see want to interrupt their conversation. They recognize the shooter. He said it was a black-haired female with dark skin, hazel eyes, and a scar above her brow. As soon as Five heard the description, he assumed that it was a woman called Angelina, and Zachary confirmed. Apparently, she was a member of a gang, which I'd never heard of before, and they both suspected someone hired them because, as they stated, they wouldn't go after the Hargreeves alone. I felt lost and nervous. I had no idea who they were talking about but it all filled me with horror. Unwittingly, I started twisting the engagement ring Five had put on my finger just a few hours before. I didn't have a change to get used to it, and maybe that was why my thumb automatically rubbed the new place, or maybe it was my body's response to the anxiety. Most likely the latter. I hadn't realized I was doing that until I caught Zachary's eyes gazing at the ring. In an instant, I let the ring be, and for a short second, our eyes locked. A weird shiver ran down the length of my spine as I could see some kind of regret written on Zachary's face.
My gaze dropped, and I cleared my throat. "Excuse me. I'm going to get myself a bottle of water. Do you want something?" I said, switching my eyes between Five and Zachary.
"I'll go," Five states. "You stay here."
No, that's not what I want!
"It's okay, Five," I said, slightly embarrassed. "You have things to discuss, and I—"
"Babe." Five's husky voice cut me off. He stood up and moved closer toward me, cupping my cheek with his hand. I fleetingly glanced at Zachary, who looked away the second my gaze met his. " I don't let me woman walk around the hospital with no proper security a day after a shooting at one of our parties. I'll go. You stay ," he commanded, and I gave up. I knew Five was a stubborn man who had to have things his way. I nodded, and he gently kissed my cheek. "I'll be right back."
I followed Five with my gaze to the door. I felt uneasy being left alone in the room with Zachary because he wasn't just anyone. He wasn't just Five's bodyguard or friend. He was someone from my past, and it felt wrong because it kept that a secret from Five.
"Congratulations." Zachary eventually spoke, breaking in on the dreadful silence, his tone flat.
I turned to look at him. He sat on the hospital bed in a white, loose shirt and shorts. The jewelry from his piercings had been removed, probably because of the surgery. His dark-brown hair was a mess and his face held no trace of emotion. He didn't resemble the seventeen-year-old boy I used to know.
"Thank you," I replied softly.
"Are you happy?" He stared at me piercingly as if trying to see right through me.
I nodded as I whispered, "Yes. Yes, I am happy."
He signed deeply. "I regret I couldn't give you what he gave you." He intonated the sentence in a way that made me shiver. As if Five was the enemy that look his life away from him.
"Don't do this, Zachary." I shook my head, furrowing my brows, my tone firm.
"Do what, Y/n?"
"Don't ruin it. You're his friend."
Zachary took a deep breath. I walked toward the chair and sat, leaning toward him.
"Let's leave the past behind, Zachary. We were just kids."
I wasn't sure if those words hurt him, but his face fell, and so did his gaze. He looked down, nodding regretfully. It seemed like he wanted to say something to say something, but the door swung open, and Five walked in, holding two bottles of water.
"There you go." He fetched me one of the bottles, a genuine smile on his face, lighting up the gloomy atmosphere looming over the room. "And this one's for you, mate," Five said teasingly, handing the other bottle to Zachary.
"Thanks, boss."
"Today, I'm not your boss. I'm your friend." Five winked, and I couldn't fight a smile.
I admired the bond they had. Maybe that was why I didn't tell Five about Zachary. To me, Zachary was just a memory. Someone from my past. Someone neutral to me now. But I had a haunting impression that if I told Five we had history together, it could ruin their friendship. And that was last thing I'd want. Besides, I considered the relationship I had with him in the past as a completely closed chapter of my life, meaningless to my present or future.
Five turned to face me again, his husky voice snapping me out of my thoughts. "My family called me. They want us to come for dinner tonight." His gaze was serious as his eyes darted between mine.
"It's okay, Five. We"ll go," I stated. I was expecting this, knowing that Diego didn't approve of our relationship, and now we're engaged. Nonetheless, I was ready to face any obstacles. I was ready to fight the world by Five's side.
"Trouble?" Zachary questioned and Five turned to face him.
"Nothing I can't handle," Five said firmly, reaching for my hand. "Take care, Zachary. I'll see you soon."
꧁-----------------------------------------------꧂
We were sitting by the high-end wooden table in the Hargreeves residence. This time we ate in the bright, elegant dining room with its style being on the verge of modern and vintage with plenty of natural light and a charming fireplace. I squeezed Five's hand, and he smiled, soothing my nerves. The atmosphere was tense. I caught Diego sending me a sinister gaze several times, but it wasn't that that made me uneasy. It was racking my brain, wondering what his issue was. He was ten times worse than my father. Whenever I spoke, he would scoff or mock me. He looked at me as if I was his worst nightmare. I got it that the Hargreeves weren't too enthusiastic about me because I was the other Hargreeves, but it felt like it wasn't the case for Diego. There was something more than that. I knew it. Eventually, it floated to the surface.
"Well." Luther stern voice snapped me out of my thoughts. "I suppose we should congratulate you on your engagement."
"You've got to be shitting me," Diego snapped, drawing everyone's attention to him. "Are we seriously going to play a happy family now? With her? He looked at me, furrowing his brows, his eyes filled with hatred.
"Watch your watch," Five hissed, although keeping his composure.
"Or what?" Diego retorted.
"Diego," Allison started.
"Ok, let's all try to calm down—-" Viktor retorted before getting cut off by Diego.
"No, don't try to shut me up," he shouted. "Let's face the truth. If I brought the other Hargreeves home, you all would bury me alive."
"Other Hargreeves?" Five scoffed, clenching his fist. "Y/n is so much more than that. Don't define her by her last name."
"Oh, right. Because now it doesn't matter whose last name she is," Diego continued. His tone was a mix of sarcasm and towering rage. "Might I remind you that just a couple of weeks ago, you saw her as—"
Five blink across the the table grabbing Diego collar to his black shirt and slammed him into the nearest wall. "You better stop, Diego. I'm warning you," he vocalized. His voice was so dark and cold that it send chills down my body."
"Alright! Knock it off!" Luther breaking the two brothers apart.
Diego clenched his jaw, nodding while staring into Five's eyes. He took a deep breath before turning his gaze to his siblings, who watched the whole commotion with disdain on his face. "Even now, you let him do whatever the hell he wants," Diego hissed, his tone low. "He brings an enemy to the house, and you all do nothing. You let him cause because he knows everything. He saved us all before. The greatest heir to our family legacy.
"You know that's not true, Diego," Viktor rasped. "We're all equal. We are all the same blood."
"Is that so?" Diego replied mockingly before finishing his wine in one gulp and throwing the glass against the table, shattering it into pieces. "Because it doesn't seem like it," he added as he headed out of the dining room. The room fell awkwardly silent, and I nearly jumped when the load sound of the door banging echoed through the hallway. Through the big window with the view of the front yard, I saw Diego getting into his car and driving away.
I glanced at Allison, who was inhaling deeply, her eyes closed as if trying to fight back an argument. She seemed hurt and maybe a little ashamed but not surprised. I figured that it wasn't the first time her brother lashed out like that. I didn't know the reason for it, but it didn't take a genius to figure out that Diego was envious of his own family.
"Please forgive this disturbance, Y/n," Viktor spoke, his tone stern and calm as if nothing had happened. He was spectacular at keeping his composure regardless of the situation.
"If you excuse us, I'd like to talk to the boys now. In private," Luther added, turning his gaze to Five.
I couldn't bring to speck and just nodded my head.
"I'll be right back," Five whispered in my ear because he followed all his brothers.
Allison signed quietly. "Luckily, Claire wasn't here to watch this."
I reached my hand out to grab Allison's. I could feel the weight she was carrying of her shoulders as the mother and sister, but most importantly, as just a woman. "Everything will be okay, Allison," I said, instantly regretting my choice of words. I didn't know what to say, so I went with the cliché phrase I'd heard my whole life, which meant absolutely nothing.
"Y/n," she said softly, looking deeply into my eyes. "You are a very bright and charming woman. But I don't think you know what it means to be a part of this family."
I tilted my head to the side. "I don't think I follow." I slowly pulled back, resting against the cream and gold chair.
Allison cleared her throat, fixing her chic white shirt. "You see there's more to this family than meets the eye. And being the sister of its successor holds some responsibilities."
"You don't have to watch your words, Allison. I know everything about this family. Five is honest with me," I stated. Five knew this conversation was coming, and I was glad he had prepared me for it. I was satisfied I'd learned the dark secrets of the Hargreeves family from him.
"Good." Allison nodded, her voice soft. "I hope you know what you're doing."
"I do," I said, determined. At this point, there was no turning back for me. Not only did I fall in love with my family's enemy, but I was also carrying his child.
Heyyy, please don't be upset for Y/n carrying Five's child. But, trust me on me when I say it's for a good reason and will make more drama included. Also only THREE MORE CHAPTER's left until this story is completely finished. I'm so excited and scared... so be prepared on what's about to come.
Question of the Day...
