⇉ Chapter Seven

One thing I'd tell you that I've learnt from personal experience is that teaching a dumb arse is a pain in the arse. What is worse than teaching a dumb arse is a dumb arse pretending to be one and that's like the biggest pain shot.

I had it enough of trying to explain what a reaction was and why do chemicals react and why were the law of physics actually rules and not suggestions, I've also had it enough of a certain swimmer thinking that I was the one who invented all those chemical laws just because I was a high grade student.

My first goal for that day, it was like a resolution or something, I was hardy determined to get rid of that walking mistake known as Daniel. He hasn't given me any other choice and I wasn't one who was very patient either, so you can very much put up a two and another two together without me hanging it over your heads.

(25th September, Thursday)

Morning :

It wasn't very simple to sit still and watch people act stupid around you because it was rather annoying. It really was.

You know one of the worst classes are when they are free, like completely. Your teacher is at home, she's sick and she's probably having some lemon tea whilst your substitute teacher didn't make it to class because she fell down the stairs and fractured her ankle or something. The boys in class are playing basketball, very much risking your head, or you will lose it before you even tell them to stop doing that to which they will definitely not listen.

It was tiring and I contemplated on leaving class and pretending like I was about to complain their heads off to an authority. But then I figured, that I was Alaska Brown and I did not need anyone else to do me the honor. So, I walked up in front of the class and stood up on the horrible plastic chair that was used by the teachers, in the process of all this wondering how the chair's poor leg's didn't break off with all the weight they've put up on it.

Standing still on it, making sure it doesn't fall of with me, I spoke up, "Helluva day, kids. I am glad and as happy as you all are," everyone went quite and stared at me wide eyes, like I was the first person to ever speak the English language and for a second there, I think I know why they reacted like that. It was for the simple reason that I never really had a reason to address my fellow classmates. I continued, "that our teacher must have fallen ill and substitute got knocked out, but I would like to request you, especially the boys, to stop throwing your balls around or all I have them wrapped up in my hands and torn off. Have a beautiful day," I finished, getting off and walking back to my seat.

Just like you guessed, the staring of course did not stop. It never really did and now that I have spoken up. I don't really know when it will.

Flipping my (left open for the first time) wavy hair I smiled at everyone whose jaws were practically touching the floor. I know that I hated emotions, but one thing that I loved the most was reactions.. To literally anything and maybe that is why I enjoyed my Physics and Chemistry very much.

"Hello, Alaska," David greeted as he sat right in front of my desk, his legs in between the chairs head-rest and his arms on it, sitting the other way around.

"Hey, sweetheart," I smiled cheekily, making a kissy face and he blushed.

"Stop it," he murmured, waving his hand in front of my face which only encouraged me more.

After a few minutes he finally got me to stop by asking me out for a movie and I asked him, "So, it's like a date?"

"It's a date, but it's not a boyfriend and girlfriend kind of date."

"I don't get you," I said, scrunching my eyebrows and trying to read the look on his face. What was it that he was trying to stutter out?

"I want you to go out on a date with me, but I don't everything to seem... Umm," he muttered, rubbing the back of his head, his teeth biting into his lip. It almost felt like chocolate fudge, anytime that pouty lip would spill and I wanted it on mine. Getting my mind out of the gutter, I tilted my head to the side waiting for him to continue.

"To seem official."

"That's not a problem," I grinned, giving him a small nod.

"I'll pick you up at five?" He asked twinkly.

"Make that a seven, I need to tutor a dumb as today," his eyebrows hunkered down up in confusion, he left with a final smile. Running his hand through his hair, he tucked his hands into his black sweats and strolled off.

It was a torture to wait for that class to end, and I still haven't figured why our teacher or substitute teacher wasn't present, but I am more than just sure that didn't matter anymore.

The killer headache that I had did not help me at all, it felt like somebody was hammering rats into my head. I rubbed my temples furiously as I walked down the hallway to my locker. It was my last class and then I had to spend two hours of torture with Daniel on my back.

"Crap," I cursed as I turned to look up, only to find Mia standing there with her coffee spilled all over her shirt and of course my pants. I glared at her.

"Oops," she squeaked.

"Yeah, well, oops isn't going to fix the fact that I look like I peed myself," I snapped, still shooting daggers at her. She just frowned.

I sighed, "Just get to class, Mia. Stop looking all guilty and go tell Gwen I'll call her tonight to find out what's up with her, all right?"

Giving me a curt nod, she sauntered off as quickly as possible. Smart girl.

"Alaska?"

Great I muttered to myself as I heard him call out to me. I placed my books on my front to cover up the now longing stain and struggled into a lip thighted smile.

"What's up, David?"

"I was just going to ask you if you're still up for... Wow. I think you're umm.. your pants are wet," he mumbled, his cheeks turning red and his eyebrows shooting up.

"Oh, It's really not what you think," I said, clicking my tongue to the top of my mouth to stop myself from spitting out something stupid and then continued, "Mia spilled her drink on me, and well, yeah. I don't know what to do now."

"Oh."

"Yeah, Oh."

"Oh, Oh! I've got my basketball shorts in the guy's practise locker room. You could borrow them if you'd like?" He asked, biting his lip and running his hand through down his shirt, to fix it up from the crumpled mess that it was. Sometimes, it looked like he would grab it in his fists, smother it and then wear it.

"That would be nice, do you think you could get them to the girl's bathroom? I don't think I'd want to walk around school more with my pants wet," I said, already turning to the right, where the bathroom was.

"Yeah sure," he smiled and walked off.

To say that he took his time, was rather surprising because I didn't know that he was ever up for being late even for such a simple task.

I was sitting in the bathroom cubicle, playing subway surfers on my iPhone. It's not like I had anything better to do. Beating my previous highscore with 2578 points, I hoot loudly and hit my head against the door. Ouch.

"Alaska?" I heard a whisper, which sounded very much like David. Unlocking the door, I walked out and smiled at him. His head was hidden behind the door and his hand was the only part of his body that was inside the bathroom.

"Thank You," I murmered as I took hold of his very large and very long red, with golden stripes at the side shorts.

"I'll wait for you outside so that I can walk you to class in a bit," he said, his voice muffled through the door.

"Don't wait up, you'll be late."

"I'm already late."

I just pulled down my black ripped jeans and didn't even bother entering a cubicle since there was no one else around at least I hoped so, and quickly pulled David's shorts on.

Looking at myself in the I tried to think of an excuse of the scars that were all showing on my skin. It was not something anybody would just ignore. It was one thing to hear people spread rumors about you and a boy and it was another hearing people talk about the endless scars on your pale, slim body.

His shorts hung loosely on me and 'i tightened them up at the sides using two pins that I had used to attach my scarf to my jacket this morning and pinned them to my under shirt. I placed my wet jeans and jacket into a bag and pulled the long sleeves of my plain black shirt to my fingers and passing my thumb through the whole that I had made.

"I'm done," I said, my voice small and doubtful. David turned to look at me his eyes scanning my body and then smiled, "Well, you don't look that bad," he said and I thanked him, there was nothing more to be said.

He walked me to class later on, in silence, there was really not much to pass on between us. I thanked him for that too and entered class. I was happy that the teacher did not question me for my absence because there wasn't much that I could explain with how I was dressed or looked. Oh, how much I wished Mia was more careful right now.

Sulking everything up, I held my head high and sank to my seat at the back of the class, listening to how my teacher rambled about the law of science. It was all so finite, so limited that it was even scary to realize that so was our life.
