Chapter 40
The Brambilla's, The Beginning
After her doctor's appointment, he took her to lunch at one of her favourite restaurants. He also had a surprise for her in his pocket which he planned on giving it to her during their meal.
"I'm famished, but I don't know what I want. It all looks so good."
"The special looks good," he replied, feeling his pocket to make sure the ring was still there.
"Why do you keep checking your pocket?"
"I had put something in there and I'm just making sure it's still there."
After the waiter had come over and taken their order she looked over at him, curious as to what was in his pocket. "Are you going to tell me what you're hiding in there?"
"I was going to wait until after we ate, but since my beautiful wife is being so nosy I will give it to you now." He reached into his pocket and took out the small black velvet box and placed it in front of her.
"What is this?" she asked, looking at it.
He chuckled. "Every time I give you a gift you always ask me that and I always reply back with the same answer. Go on, open it and see for yourself."
"Oh Leone, it's absolutely beautiful and it matches my bracelet." She looked at him and smiled. "So this is why you wanted me to wear the bracelet?"
"That's right, and later I will be getting you the matching necklace and earrings."
"Don't you think you bought me enough jewelry already?"
"I told you from the beginning that you were a woman born to wear diamonds and I plan on buying you a lot of them." He placed the ring on the finger of her right hand. "It looks amazing on you."
Two weeks later they were sitting on the couch watching a movie when the Butler came in to announce that they had a visitor. Right behind him was Eddie.
She got to her feet and went over she put her arms around him and gave him a big hug. "Eddie, I'm so happy to see you. Why didn't you tell us you were coming?"
"I wanted to surprise you and to personally congratulate you on your pregnancy." He glanced over at Leone, keeping the secret that his being here was arranged.
"Now how long are you going to be staying this time before you disappear for months?"
"I plan on staying for a few months. Now how have you been feeling?"
"I've been great, happy," she replied.
Coffee and dessert were served and they all sat around and talked until she started feeling tired and excused herself to go to bed.
The next couple of months flew by. She was never alone, if Leone was out Eddie was there and vice versa. She managed to sneak out and go to the garden that she had asked Leone for. It was a place she liked going to, she would sit down on the bench with a book to read. She was only there not even a half an hour when Eddie appeared.
"There you are sweetheart, I was looking all over for you."
She slammed the book shut and glared at him. "Can I not have a few minutes to myself without either you or my husband hoovering over me."
This was the first time she had ever snapped at him and it shocked him. "I'm sorry, I was just making sure you were okay."
"Did my husband put you up to this?"
"Put me up to what?"
"I find it awfully funny that you showed up right after we found out I was pregnant. Did Leone ask you to come back to keep an eye on me? And don't you even dare think about lying to me."
He went and sat down beside her. "Yes, but he only wanted to make sure that you had one of us with you at all times. After what happened before he was just so worried about you. So was I."
"I'm okay, but he should have told me that he asked you to come home."
"Don't be too hard on him, he loves you so much."
"You both need to give me some space. But I do appreciate how much you both care about me."
After they talked for a while they went back inside and she went upstairs to rest. When Leone got home Eddie had to tell him that she knew the reason why he came home so soon.
"Oh crap, how mad is she?"
"Just a little, but I think she might be right. Maybe she could use a break from both of us. Let's give her a little bit of space. Just enough so that she doesn't think she's being suffocated."
"I'll go up and talk to her," he said, leaving Eddie to himself. Going upstairs to their bedroom he opened the door quietly and stepped in. He went over to the bed where she was asleep, and couldn't help smiling at her. Even to this day it amazed him how beautiful she was and that she was his.
She was just waking up and when she saw him sitting there she sat up and crossed her arms. "Oh my God, can I not have a nap without you watching me?"
He sat down on the bed, making sure there wasn't a hairbrush that she could throw at him before he spoke. "Eddie told me about the talk you two had and I'm just wondering how angry you are with me."
"Let's just say it was a good thing you weren't here when I found out. But I'm no longer mad and I do understand your concern. You should have told me yourself that you had asked him to come home."
"I should have, do you forgive me?"
"I will if you promise to stop treating me like a child who can't be left alone for five minutes. I'm really doing okay and I feel great."
"I can do that, so do you forgive me then?"
"On one condition."
"Anything, just name it."
Smiling at him she ran her fingertip over her bottom lip. "Take off your pants."
With a big smile on his face, he got off the bed and started removing his clothes. "Okay, now what?"
"Oh, I think you know."
Two hours later after they had made love he held her in his arms, rubbing his one hand over her belly. "There is one thing I haven't told Eddie."
"And what is that?"
"That we know we're having a boy."
She looked up at him and smiled. "Well it's good to know that you can keep at least one secret when I ask you to."
After that night she was glad that the two men gave her some space and time alone. Even though most days one of them would stay home they did both go out when Leone had business to take care of.
As the days ticked by and she was now in her 8th month of pregnancy she did feel a tiny bit nervous. She tried to keep busy with her drawing and taking walks out to the garden. This one particular day she was sitting on the bench, Leone had gone out and Eddie had just returned home when he found her in the garden.
He could see the worried look on her face and went and sat down next to her. "Sweetheart, what is wrong?"
"It's nothing," she said, looking down at the ground.
"Eleonora, I know you and I can tell when something is bothering you. Are you feeling okay, should I call Leone to come home?"
She finally looked up at him. "No, please don't call him. Nothing is wrong, I feel fine and I feel the baby moving. It's just that, this was around the time that I realized something was wrong with my first pregnancy. I guess I'm just feeling a little nervous. It's always in the back of my mind that the same thing can happen again."
"The way you are feeling and thinking is perfectly normal. But you have nothing to worry about, and you should tell Leone how you feeling."
"I don't want him to worry."
Eddie put his arm around her. "Your husband is one of the smartest man I know and I'm pretty sure he can sense that something is bothering you so he's probably already worrying about you. Tell him or I will."
"No you don't have to, I'll talk to him later tonight when we go to bed."
Later that night as he was taking a shower she sat at her vanity, brushing her hair. When he came out wearing nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist she couldn't help but drool.
A smile appeared on his face when he saw the way she was staring at him as her tongue swiped across her bottom lip. "If you like what you see then take a look at this," he said, removing the towel and letting it drop to the floor.
Her face turned a bright red. "You shouldn't tease a pregnant woman."
"So do you want a piece of this?" he asked, swaying his hips, making his member move back and forth.
"Please don't tease me, you know I'm not in any condition for sex." But boy did she ever want him and could feel her core throbbing and wetness pulling between her legs.
He picked up the towel and wrapped it around him. "We could still have sex as long as I'm careful."
As much as she wanted to she had to talk to him about how she was feeling. "We need to talk, I have something to tell you."
As soon as he heard her say that he became terrified, thinking that something was wrong with the baby. "Is something wrong with the baby? Oh God please tell me it's not and that you're both okay."
"No we're both fine, it's just that."
He went over and put his hands on her shoulders and looked into her eyes. "Please tell me what's going on."
"I'm at the same stage I was when I lost our daughter and I am terrified that it might happen again."
"Oh my love, how long have you felt this way?"
"A few days," she said, feeling guilty that she hadn't mentioned it to him before now.
He walked her over to the bed and had her sit on his lap. "I can understand, but the chances of that happening again is so slim. Worrying about it is not good for you or the baby. You also should have told me how you were feeling. Why don't you lay down and I'll go get the machine and we'll listen to the heartbeat together."
She went and laid down and waited for him to return from the closet. She lifted up her gown so that he could put some gel on her belly and then they listened to the heartbeat. A smile crossed her face when she heard how loud and strong it was.
"See, everything is okay and we are going to have a very healthy and beautiful baby boy." It warmed his heart every time he heard the heartbeat.
The next three weeks flew by and every night they would listen to the heartbeat. It was only a week away from her due date and she was now feeling much better and knew that everything was going to go perfectly. But the only thing was the closer she got to her due date the more he stayed close to her. He was so attentive, giving in to her every demand.
Leone and Eddie were in his office a few days later when she came to the door and walked in.
"Hey sweetheart, your husband said you were resting."
"I was." She then looked at Leone. "I've come to tell you that it's time to go to the hospital."
Leone jumped up from his chair and rushed over to her. "Is the baby coming?"
Nodding her head she placed her hand over her belly and smiled at him. "Yes, it's time. I've asked one of the maids to go upstairs and get my overnight bag."
Well needless to say he was over the moon, he couldn't stop smiling when he looked over at Eddie. "Get William to bring the car around."
They sat in the back seat while Eddie and William were in the front. When they reached the hospital and got inside she was taken in right away. After being examined the doctor told them that they would take her right to delivery.
After ten hours of Labor their son was born, six pounds and eleven ounces. When he was placed in her arms for a few minutes the proud parents stared down at their beautiful son.
"We did it, we have a beautiful and healthy son."
Even though she was drained of energy she still had to chuckle. "I find it so funny that when a woman delivers the baby the husband always says we did it. It wasn't you that went through hours of Labor and pushed a human being out of your body."
He smiled back at her. "I guess it's just something we men say. I love you so much and you have made me so very happy."
After they took her and the baby away to be cleaned up he went into the waiting room to let William and Eddie know that his son had been born.
"Well, are you going to tell us if it's a boy or girl?
He grinned at Eddie. "It's a beautiful boy, a very healthy baby. Look I'm going back to see them so give us a few minutes alone."
Twenty minutes later Eddie walked in and went right over to the bed. She was sitting up in bed holding the baby. He looked down at the sleeping infant and couldn't help but smile from ear to ear. "He's gorgeous. Have you picked a name for him yet?"
"We've named him Lazaro," she said smiling up at him.
"What a fitting name for him. He will grow up to be a strong and powerful boss." With a grin on his face, he looked over at Leone. "He looks so much like you, right down to that serious scowl on his face."
"Oh stop it, neither my son nor my husband has a scowl on their face. Would you like to hold your godson?"
After visiting for a while and noticing that she was exhausted he and William left the couple to be alone with their son.
Leone held the baby while she went to sleep, he didn't want to put him down. His heart was so full of love and his eyes teared up when he looked down at his son. He stayed by their side for two days before she was released from the hospital. It was now time to start a new chapter in their life.
