I didn't see Stephanie or her crew for the rest of school, so when the final bell rung and I could leave, I was overjoyed. I walked out the big doors of the school and headed straight towards my car.
Almost there...
Hey, Terra! Wait up." Kayla heaved. Did she run?
"Yeah, what's up?"
When she finally caught up to me, she held onto my shoulder and tried catch her breath. Was I walking THAT fast?
"Damn girl, you're fast. My car is in the shop and I wanted to know if I can have a ride home? She asked.
"You don't even have to ask, but let's get food as well."
We continued walking back to my car when Kayla decided to ask can she drive.
Hell no.
Now she's pouting. Big baby.
"Look, I'm sorry, but I'm not letting you drive my car." I sighed. She's a shît driver!
"Why not?! You're acting like I'm a shît driver or something!" She wailed.
My eyes widened. Uhhh...can she read my mind?
I kept quiet hoping, praying she wouldn't catch on.
Kayla gasped and looked at me with shock and anger.
Well shît.
"You DO think I'm a shît driver!"Kayla shrieked.
"I'm not wrong, Kay! It's true. You had gotten a total of five speeding tickets."
"So what?! Five in a year!" Kayla fumed.
"No, five in two days. I would know because I was with you. The police thought you were drunk and had you walk the line." I calmly replied.
"Whatever. It's just tickets. Not like I killed anyone."
"You killed a little toddler's cat."
"She didn't know,"
"She was right there with her mom when you drove up on the sidewalk."
"The damn cat was too close to the road!" She shot back.
"It was in the yard. That's why your car is in the shop now!" I retorted.
How she got her license is beyond me.
Kayla huffed and moved towards the passenger door trying to make her frustration be known. I just rolled my eyes and unlocked the doors and got in.
No one cares that she's in a pissy mood.
After starting the car, I pulled out of the parking lot and headed to, Bob's Diner. They have the best burgers.
We walked in and got a seat and waited for the waitress so we can order.
"So, what's been up with you today? You've been acting strange all day." Kayla asked with a worried expression.
Should I just tell her what I saw this morning? I mean, I could, but she might think I've gone off the deep end, or worse...I found her brother's weed stash and now I'm high. Which is worse?
Oh, whatever. I'm just going to tell her.
So, I told her everything I saw.
"Wow," Kayla started. She looked out the window deep in thought before turning back to me.
"What could it mean?"
"I don't know honestly. I thought maybe it was nothing."
Could it actually be nothing?
"Well, I think it's something. It's not everyday something like that happens. We should check the forest out." She replied.
Is this bîtch serious?
"Kayla, you actually want to go out into the forest and look around for something that is possibly a figment of my imagination?" I exclaimed.
She can't possibly be serious.
"Why not? This town never have anything exciting going on. If you say you saw something..you saw something. What? You scared?" She squinted her eyes at me daring me to object.
Kayla is completely insane. Once she gets an idea into her head, she won't stop until it's heard. Even if it can get her into trouble.
It wasn't that I was scared because I wasn't...well, maybe a little. It's just that that I don't need more things to stick me out from the rest. I already have to pretty much hide my identity from others.
Kayla doesn't have to worry about what others might think of her...
"No, I'm not scared I just find it pointless." I mumbled.
"You-" Kayla started right when loud voices interrupted her.
Turning around in my seat I look to the entrance to see three boys walking in. Two of them wee taking loudly while one was asking for a booth for them.
You couldn't miss them. They somehow stood out from others.
The loudest one has brown hair and chocolate-colored brown eyes to match. He was tall, probably standing at 6'2. He seemed carefree and upbeat, but could cause destruction if rubbed the wrong way.
The next loudest one had black hair and obsidian-black eyes to go with his hair. He was no shorter than the brown haired being 6'2 as well. The difference was more built and extremely intimidating.
I wouldn't mess with him.
Now, the last one, he was a bit different. He had light brown and stood at about 6'3 maybe 6'4. I couldn't see his eyes because he was turned away. He wasn't big like the black-haired, but he still has muscle.
There was something about them though. Something strange. They're definitely not from here. The boys had finally gotten a booth...right in front of us.
Greaatt...just great.
"Who are they?" Kayla questioned.
"I don't know. Maybe they just moved here." I mumbled. I was trying to see his eyes. He was looking down at something.
Him and the dark-haired boy was sitting facing towards me while the black-haired had his back towards me.
"Well, forget them for now. We still need to talk about what you saw in the forest and out plan." Kayla huffed, completely forgetting about the boys already.
The waitress came and we ordered our food.
"So, are we going into the forest or not? I think we should go." Kayla looked up to me from her phone.
"No, Kayla! We're not about to do that. What idiot goes out and into a forest in the middle of the night to go look for something?" I exclaimed. Kayla is trying to die.
"Who said anything about going at night? I say we miss school tomorrow and go. That way it's still light outside and you won't be afraid of the dark."
"Kayla! I'm not afraid-" I was cut off by the sound of laughing.
Kayla turned and looked back with a confused look. Her frustration from being interrupted was starting to show.
"What's so funny?" Kayla asked. She seemed kind of annoyed.
The black-haired boy turned in his seat and directly into Kay's eyes. It looked like he was looking into her soul.
Creepy.
"What's funny is two girls thinking that they're going to go into a forest and play scavenger hunt." He replied with a deep chuckle.
Sexy aśśhole.
"Excuse me?! I'll have you know we aren't thinking about going, we are going and it isn't a game, aśśhole. My friend here," Kayla pointed at me and before I could look away, big guy looked directly at me.
Damn you, Kayla.
He continued to analyze my face until Kayla continued talking.
"She claims she saw something in the forest so we're going to check it out. And who the hell told you to listen in on our conversation?" She fumed. Her face was turning red every time she said a word. She hates being assaulted. Strong Feminist right here.
Oh, God.
If his black eyes could get any blacker, they would.
He looked back to me. He really looked at me.
His stare was starting to get uncomfortable so I looked away.
He still continued to stare.
"If you know what's good for you, you'd stay away from the forest. Definitely when it's dark. He rasped before turning back around.
Kayla turned back and looked at me with an 'are you serious' look.
I just shrugged and look out the window.
How do you respond to that?
I heard Kayla sigh and type away on her phone, but what bothered me was the burning feeling that I was being watched.
I looked around the diner trying to see if anyone was staring at me, but I didn't. It was only when I faced the front of me did I find out who was staring at me.
It was him. The boy I couldn't see. He was staring at me deeply, shamelessly.
His gaze held me captive. I couldn't look away. Why was he staring at me? Was there something on my face?
Man, there must be something on my face.
We stayed in this silent stare-down until the waitress came with the food.
I decided to ignore the group of boys all together and focus on my best friend and her wacky ideas.
We talked, we laughed, and we ate, all the while feeling his gaze on me.
When we left the diner, I took Kayla home and went back to my house.
I got home and noticed that no cars were there so that meant she was still gone and Stephanie was probably at her friend's house.
I walked into the house and went upstairs to my room.
I sat at my desk and finished up any homework I had and then watched a little TV.
A little after eight, I took a shower and put on an oversized shirt and tied my hair into a messy bun.
After brushing my teeth, I hopped into bed and closed my eyes and thought about today.
What could he have possibly meant about staying away from the forest?
Dick.
I could feel sleep coming on, but right before I fell into slumber, something hit me.
Blue.....his eyes are blue.

END OF CHAPTER 3

*
So that's Chapter 3. I know it's not long, but I tried.
I'm most likely working on Chapter 4 right now.
Ummm...sorry again for the long wait, but a certain someone put my book in a reading list called, "Books That Don't Update Soon Enough"
I think that's what it's called or something close, but when I saw it in my notifications I laughed really hard and thought maybe that's a sign telling me to update this damn book.
I'll try my really hardest to update more frequently now that I know people actually pay attention to my book.
I mean, I kinda knew before, but not to the point where my book was moved to a reading list...that was funny though.
Okay, I'm done talking.
Bye for now!
