Chapter 12
Light streamed in through the window of the Gryffindor Girls' Dormitory. Seeing red like you usually do when the sun is directly in your eyes, you groaned and removed your pillow from under your head, only to smack it over you face. Satisfied with the sudden darkness, you felt yourself begin to drift off again...
Until a blast of cold air hit your feet.
Shivering, you brought your knees up into your chest so you were now in the fetal position.
"Hey!" you yelled into the pillow, the fabric muffling your cries.
"Wake up!" replied a feminine voice, laughing.
"It's too early for that," you muttered grumpily, refusing to move.
No reply.
Then the blinding light hit your face once again as the pillow was snatched away. You opened your eyes as glared at the beaming face of none other than Carol.
"What?" you snapped, knitting your eyebrows together as you closed your eyes once again. Although you couldn't see her, you knew that Carol was shaking her head at you.
"We have a lot to do today. Professor McGonagall asked me to help you get caught up with everything." Carol stated. You heard a repetitive tapping noise, so you assumed she was tapping her foor impatiently.
"Good for you." Was your reply as you turned over in hopes of blocking the light completely. "Unfortunately for you, I'm not really a morning person. At least not today."
"Yeah, no kidding." Carol deadpanned. She sighed heavily. "Look, are you getting up or not?"
"Lateeeerrrr," you moaned, "I'm tired. Just a few more minutes?"
Something soft hit your head, which you soon realized was your pillow.
"As if you didn't get enough sleep in the Hospital Wing," Carol snorted as warm wool covered your legs once again. "But fine, I won't bother you. I'll be in the Great Hall once you're ready."
You mumbled a muffled 'okay' into the bedsheets, and you heard her footsteps fade slowly, until there was nothing. Lifting up your head, you put your pillow back under you and smiled as you cozied up once again.

The next time you opened your eyes, you heard loud shrieks of glee (and occasional annoyance) outside the castle walls. Assuming the Weasley twins were up to their usual tricks, you blinked several times in a row, to blink the sleepiness away. Letting out a huge yawn resembling something like a lion's roar, which you were quite glad no one was around to see, you sat up and kicked your legs over the side of your bed. You cringed, your knees cracking as you stood. Making your way over to your trunk, you began to get ready to start the day - even if it was the afternoon.
Deciding not to deal with your terrible bed-head, you tied your hair into a ponytail as you walked down the stairs, wand and books tucked under your arm. You were surprised that they didn't fall, but glad nonetheless.
Not in the mood to rush, you slowly walked towards the Great Hall, your footsteps echoing throughout the empty hallways. The sound bounced off the stone walls and made its way back to you. It just amplified how lazy and lonely you felt.
You sighed, pulling the sleeves of your robe down further as a sudden chill seized your body. Shivering, you wrapped your arms across your body as you continued the eerily quiet walk to the place where food would hopefully be waiting for you.
Pushing the large oak doors open, you quickly caught sight of a single blonde sitting at one of the long tables. Like the hallways, the Great Hall was empty except for the girl who turned at the sound of your shoes clacking against the floor.
"It's about time." She said once you had reached her, cracking a small grin.
"What can I say? I need my sleep." You responded with a shrug, giving her a smile of your own.
Carol patted a space on the bench, closing the book she was previously reading. "Do you have a least favourite subject?"
"History of Magic," you replied instantly as you took a seat beside the young witch.
"Alright, we'll start with that, then, to get it over and done with." Carol said with a laugh, opening one of the many textbooks resting upon the wooden table. "Can't say I blame you, it is very boring."
"You're telling me." You mumbled, watching Carol begin to write on a piece of parchment.
"Alright. What year did the Gargoyle strike take place?"
"How am I supposed to know?!"
~
Many groans and head-thumps against the table later, Carol called for a break.
"Finally!" you yelled in exasperation. "I've been waiting for you to say that for like...8 years!"
Carol rolled her eyes, giggling. "Drama queen..." she teased.
"Well, this Drama Queen needs food." You moaned, patting your stomach sadly. "I'm starved! I didn't have breakfast!"
"Now who's fault is that?" You received an eyebrow raise from the blonde, to which you responded childishly with your tongue. Your (E/C) eyes lit up with excitement when Carol reached into the brown satchel she was carrying with her, revealing two apples, some granola bars, a croissant and a giant chocolate chip cookie.
"Unngghhh yooe da besht, Cawo." You tried to thank her as best you could with your mouth full of the delicious cookie.
"It's no trouble," Carol replied, watching you with clear amusement. "I figured you'd be hungry so I saved you some food from this morning."
"You're a God. Thank you sooo much!"
"Haha. Now, ready for a review?"
"...I take it back."
(Look, it's an update from the procrastinating author who was assumed to be dead! Just a little filler for now)
