Hogwarts

Danny pushed his cart to platforms nine and ten before looking around, it was some weird magic thing, he was doomed. Just then he heard a woman talking, "It's the same every year, packed with muggles of course, come on."

Danny recognized the word muggles, it's what Hagrid called Jack, Danny took a deep breath before following the woman and who he assumed were her kids. The woman then gestured for one of her kids to go and Danny noticed that they all had red hair. The kid, who looked like a teenager, ran toward the wall and went straight through it, Danny stared in curiosity.

The woman looked at her other kids, "Fred, you next."

One of the kids, who seemed to be the twin, spoke, "He's not Fred I am."

The first one spoke, "Honestly woman you call yourself our mother."

Danny wondered how the hell they were allowed to say that without even getting glared at. The woman sighed, "I'm sorry George."

The woman gestured for him to go and he got ready to run toward the wall and he looked at his mom, "I'm only joking, I am Fred." He then ran off and his twin was right behind him,Danny mentally sighed, it was now or never.

"Um, excuse me." He pushed his cart closer to the woman and she walked up next to him, "How do I get onto the platform?"

The woman laughed a little, "Not to worry dear, it's Ron's first time to Hogwarts as well." Danny looked at Ron and gave him a small nod before before turning back to the woman and listening to what she was saying. "Now all you have to do is walk straight at the wall between platforms nine and ten, best do it in a bit of a run if your nervous."

The girl at the woman's side spoke, "Good luck."

Danny gave a small nod to her and decided he'd make this a little fun, he got a head start before flipping onto his cart and riding it like it was a god damn surfboard. He went through the wall and when he was on the other side he flipped off of his cart again while making sure his owl wasn't jostled. He looked back at the wall, shrugged, and turned the corner to see the train right in front of him.

He checked the sign and saw that he was in the right place, thank god, and he quickly got on the train, he didn't want to miss the damn thing. Some time after the train left Danny heard someone talk, "Excuse me." Danny looked and saw the boy, Ron, from earlier, "Do you mind, everywhere else is full."

Danny shrugged, "Go ahead."

Ron smiled a little and sat across from him, "I'm Ron by the way, Ron Weasley."

"Name's Danny, Danny Phantom."

Ron's eyes widened, "So, so it's true, I mean, do you really have the, the."

Ron kept making hand gestures to try and explain what he meant and Danny raised an eyebrow, "The scar?" Ron nodded and Danny turned his head while moved his hood to show Ron said scar, truth be told it was one of the few things he liked about himself.

Ron's eyes widened again, "Wicked."

Then a woman pushing a cart stopped at their door, "Anything off the trolley dears?"

Ron held up what Danny thought might be sandwiches, "No thanks, I'm all set."

Danny looked at the woman, "A few of everything, why not?"

Danny took some money out of his pocket and Ron's eyes widened again, "Woah."

Danny raised an eyebrow at him but didn't say anything as she got his things and he paid her. Despite how Danny usually was he offered to let Ron eat it with him and the boy was more then happy to. Danny eventually picked up a box, "The hell?"

Ron looked at the box, "Bertie Botts every flavor beans, they mean every flavor, there's chocolate and peppermint. And there's also spinach, liver, and tripe, George swears he got a bogey one once."

Danny looked at the jelly beans before shrugging and tossing one into the air before catching it in his mouth. He hummed, "I think this one's pepper."

Ron looked at him like he was insane but Danny still ate it and picked up another box, "I honestly won't he surprised if this is an actual frog."

Ron looked at him, "It's just a spell, besides it's the card you want, each packs got a famous witch or wizard, I've got about five hundred myself."

Danny mentally sighed before he opened the small box and the frog jumped off the box and Danny caught it before it landed on the window. Danny tossed the frog to Ron, "You can have it." Ron gave him a slightly confused look and Danny took out the card from the box, "Dumbledore."

Ron spoke, "I've got about six of him."

Danny looked at the card again, "And he's gone, why am I not surprised?"

"Well you can't expect him to run around all day can you?"

Danny then noticed the rat on Ron's lap and his instincts immediately started going off like sirens but he didn't know why. He was usually fine with mice and rats so why was this one different, maybe he was more tense then he thought. Ron spoke, "This is Scabbers by the way, pathetic isn't he?"

"Maybe a little."

"Fred gave me a spell to turn him yellow, want to see?"

Danny shrugged, he sort of wished he had something else to do but he settles for tapping on his leg. Before Ron could even try a girl suddenly appeared at the door, "Has anyone seen a toad, a boy named Neville's lost one."

Ron looked confused, "Um, no."

The girl saw that Ron had his wand out, "Oh, are you doing magic, let's see then."

Ron then cleared his throat and said the weirdest string of words Danny had ever heard, there was a small puff of smoke but that was it. Ron looked at him and shrugged, Danny shrugged back and the girl spoke again, "Are you sure that's a real spell, well it's not very good is it. Of course I've only tried a few simple ones myself but they've all worked for me."

The girl then sat down across from him and he wondered why the hell the universe was doing this to him. The girl's eyes widened after a few seconds, "Holy cricket, you're Danny Phantom, I'm Hermione Granger." She looked at Ron, "And you are?"

Ron looked at her, "Ron Weasley."

She looked mildly grossed out when Ron talked while he was eating, "Pleasure." She looked at him again, "You two best change into your robes, I expect we'll be arriving soon."

Hermione then walked to the door before she looked at Ron again, "You've got dirt on your nose by the way, did you know, just there."

She pointed to a spot on her own nose before walking away and Ron rubbed the side of his nose to try and get the dirt off. Some time later, after the sun had set and it was dark out, the train finally stopped, Danny and Ron had already changed. As they started leaving the train he heard Hagrid shout, "First years, this way please, come on now first years don't be shy, come on now, hurry up!"

Danny felt uncomfortable without his jacket, even though he liked his scar he didn't like people staring at it. He refused to change out of his pants and boots though, he would fight to keep wearing them, along with his gloves. Danny walked over to Hagrid and the tall man smiled at him, "Hello Danny."

Danny smiled just a little, "Hey Hagrid."

Ron looked at Hagrid with wide eyes, "Woah."

Hagrid then shouted, "Alright, this way to the boats, come on then, follow me!"

Hagrid started walking away and the crowd of new students followed him, it would be hard to lose the man so it was easy to keep track of him. The kids then got into the boats that were waiting for them and they headed toward a large castle that Danny guessed was Hogwarts. Everyone stared at the castle and some even voiced their amazement but Danny stayed silent as he looked at the castle.

They eventually made it inside and were soon greeted by an older woman dressed in dark green with a witch hat on. Once most of the students gathered around her she spoke, "Welcome to Hogwarts. Now in a few moments you will pass through these doors and join your classmates but before you can take your seats you must be sorted into your houses."

"They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin, now while your here your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points, any rule breaking and you will lose points, at the end of the year the house with the most points is awarded the house cup."

While the woman was talking Danny noticed a toad at her feet and a boy shouted, "Trevor!" The boy then grabbed the toad and the woman looked a bit surprised, the boy looked at her, "Sorry."

The boy walked away and the woman continued, "The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily."

A boy suddenly spoke after she walked away, "It's true then, what they're saying on the train, Danny Phantom has come to Hogwarts."

People then started whispering his name and Danny looked at the boy who spoke, he was a little irritated now. The boy gestured to his friends, "This is Crabbe and Goyle, and I'm Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." Ron laughed a little and Malfoy looked at him, "Think my name is funny do you, no need to ask yours, red hair and a hand me down robe, you must he a Weasley."

Danny felt his anger flare up and he forced it down, it wouldn't do him any good to get mad right now. Malfoy looked at him, "You'll soon find that some wizarding families are better then others Phantom, you don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort, I can help you there."

Malfoy held out his hand and Danny looked at him, "I don't do handshakes, and I think I can make that call myself."

The woman from before came back and she tapped Malfoy on the back with a long rolled up paper. Malfoy looked at her before glaring at Danny and going back to his friends, Danny just brushed it off. The woman spoke, "We're ready for you now, follow me."

She lead them inside as the doors opened and Danny glanced at the floating candles, that was one thing he could do. What he couldn't do was make the ceiling look like it did outside and Hermione spoke. "It's not real, the ceiling, it's just bewitched to look like the night sky, I read about it in Hogwarts, a history."

Danny was getting ever so slightly annoyed with that, Jazz liked showing off how smart she was too, he hated it. The woman lead them to the front of the room where a hat sat on a stool and she looked at them before they walked up the few steps it would take to get to the hat. "Would you wait along here please?"

The other kids gathered around the front and she spoke, "Now, before we begin Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words."

Dumbledore stood up and spoke, "I have a few start of term notices I wish to announce, the first years please note that the dark forest is strictly forbidden to all students. Also our caretaker Mr. Filch has asked me to remind you that the third floor corridor on the right hand side is out of bounds to anyone who does not wish to die a most painful death."

Now that sounded like something Danny would want to see, plenty of things had tried to kill him before, especially after he became a halfa, so that would be interesting. Dumbledore then thanked them and sat back down and the woman spoke again, "When I call your name you will come forth, I shall place the sorting hat on your head, and you will be sorted into your houses."

The woman looked at the list, "Hermione Granger."

Hermione looked slightly nervous and she started talking to herself to try and calm herself down. Ron looked at him, "Mental that one, I'm tellin' you."

Danny just crossed his arms and waited to see what would happen, the hat talked to itself for a few seconds before putting Hermione in Gryffindor. The people at that table cheered, the woman then called up Draco Malfoy and he walked up before sitting down. The woman hadn't even placed the hat on his head before it put him in Slytherin and the table cheered.

Ron looked at him, "There wasn't a witch or wizard who went bad that wasn't in Slytherin." Danny doubted that, maybe most of them, maybe, but they couldn't have all come from Slytherin.

While people were being called up Danny felt like someone was watching him and he turned to see one of the teachers looking at him. For some reason his scar hurt when he looked in that direction which was slightly odd but he ignored it. Ron then got called up and he looked slightly nervous before walking over to her and sitting down.

The hat soon placed him in Gryffindor, there was cheering again, and Ron quickly made his way over to the table. The woman looked at the list again, "Danny Phantom."

The room quickly went quiet and Danny walked up with his hands in his pockets as everyone in the room stared at him. He sat down and when the hat was placed on his head it hummed, "How interesting, never seen anything like this before, difficult, very difficult." After the hat mumbled to itself for a bit it finally shouted, "Gryffindor!"

The table cheered louder then it had before and Danny gracefully got up and walked over to the table. After all of the students were sorted, which took some time, the woman sat down and tapped her glass with her spoon, "Your attention please."

Dumbledore stood up as the room went silent, "Let the feast begin."

Food then appeared on the table somehow and Danny wondered if there was something wrong with him because he wasn't surprised. Everyone started eating and Danny leaned closer to the boy next to him who happened to be Ron's brother Percy. Several of the people around him had introduced themselves while people were being sorted.

"Hey Percy, who's the guy talking to Professor Quirrell?"

Percy looked at said man, "Oh, that's Professor Snape, head of Slytherin house."

"And what does he teach?"

"Potions, but everyone knows it's the dark arts he fancies, he's been after Quirrell's job for years." Danny's breath fogged up when Ron suddenly yelled and a ghost's head popped up from the table.

The ghost smiled, "Hello!" The ghost looked at Ron, "How are you, welcome to Gryffindor." Danny's breath fogged up again as more ghosts came into the room and the ghost in the table looked at him. Danny put his finger to his lips, a silent way of asking the ghost to not tell anyone what he was, and the ghost smiled before nodding.

Percy looked at the ghost, "Hello Sir Nicholas, have a nice summer?"

Nicholas looked at him, "Dismal, once again my request to join the headless hunt has been denied, although I did receive some terrific news that brightened my day."

Percy looked confused but Nicholas floated out of the table before he could say anything and Ron spoke. "I know you, your nearly headless Nick."

Nicholas looked at Ron, "I prefer Sir Nicholas if you don't mind."

Danny couldn't help but smirk and Hermione spoke, "Nearly headless, how can you be nearly headless."

Danny had to force himself not to wince and he gave the ghost an apologetic look, Nicholas gave him a small smile. Nick looked at Hermione, "Like this."

He pulled his head to the side and Ron jumped and shouted, several of the students looked away. Danny nearly laughed at the ghosts antics, he had gotten used to things like this, ghosts would actually do things like this as a joke. Nick righted his head again and Percy spoke, "Sir Nicholas, you said you got some good news, what was that?"

Nick's mood immediately brightened, "Ah, you see I visited the zone this summer, a new prince was named and he's wonderful. He's a very nice lad, I don't think you'll find a single ghost that will say a word against him, I'm sure he'll do great things."

Danny wished he could disappear right then and Nick sent him a quick smile since they both knew that Danny was the prince. Hermione spoke again, "But why would ghosts need a prince?"

Nick didn't look amused, "Whether we need one or not doesn't matter, the prince is a very kind soul and deserves respect."

Ron spoke, "So who's the prince then?"

Nick gave them a knowing smile, "Perhaps you'll find out one day, but here's something you might hear often." Nick turned to the rest of the room and shouted, "Long live the prince!"

The other ghosts in the room shouted, "Long live the prince!"

Danny was blushing now and he buried his face in his hands as Nick laughed a little, at least they were keeping his identity a secret. He only went by Phantom in the ghost zone, as well as with a certain duo, and so far no one knew his real identity. When dinner was finally over all of the students left the dining hall and Percy looked at all of them, "Gryffindor follow me."

They stopped at a set of stairs and Percy spoke again, "This is the most direct path to the dormitories, oh, and keep an eye on the staircases, they like to change."

Several of the students looked up and it seemed like the stairs went up forever, several of the staircases were moving and Danny found it interesting. After a few seconds Percy had the students follow him and they started walking up the stairs to the dorms. As they walked all of the pictures they passed moved and Danny glanced at each of them and one of them even welcomed them to the school.

They stopped in front of a picture with a lady wearing a pink dress and she spoke, "Password?"

Percy said the password, which Danny thought was a bit odd, before the portrait slowly swung off the wall. Percy walked into the door behind the portrait and the students followed after him, he told them where their rooms were and they soon went up to their rooms. Everyone seemed tired and Danny's roommates fell asleep fairly quickly but Danny couldn't sleep.

He had insomnia, it was usually difficult for him to fall asleep so he chose to just stare out the window with his owl as he smoothed her feathers. She nuzzled his hand and made very pleased noises which made Danny smile, he mentally sighed before walking over to his bed. He grabbed something from under it and let his owl grab onto his arm before he teleported onto the roof of the school.

Danny opened the case he had grabbed and took out an instrument, a violin that he had gotten as a gift. He made sure it was tuned before he put the bow on the strings and started playing a song he composed. Whenever he couldn't sleep he teleported somewhere to play, it calmed him down and gave him a chance to come up with new songs.

His owl seemed to greatly enjoy his playing and he smiled, after he played a song or two he was suddenly in pain and he stopped playing. His owl looked worried and Danny put the violin down before teleporting into a bathroom and spitting blood into the sink. He could hear the cracking again and he had to force himself not to yell in pain as it slowly got worse.

It didn't last as long as last time but his pajamas were covered in blood, the amount of time it lasted was pretty much unpredictable. Danny eventually teleported back to his owl and she seemed very distressed when she saw the green blood on his clothes. Danny took her back to the room along with his violin and he changed his clothes, he hoped nobody would see the clothes before he could get the blood out of them.

Danny hid his clothes and his owl seemed to insist on using his headboard as a perch to sleep on. The halfa couldn't help but smile when he saw that and he got comfortable in his bed before closing his eyes to sleep.
