God Help the Outcast

I look behind me as I keep running, stupid guard is still chasing me. I look down to see my little baby reindeer Sven starting to get tried from running as I quickly him up and keep running. "Stop running!" The guard yells. "Stop chasing me! I didn't do anything!" I yell as I jump over a bench as I see Norte Dame in front of me. The only place I can go. "Get back here!" He yells as I reach church's door. I push it open as I walk in and close the door behind me. I place my head on the door as I lock it and try to catch my breath.

"That was close." I whisper to myself as I feel someone grab my shoulder and turn me around making Sven get out of my arms. "What are you doing in here gypsy?" A man about my age with shaggy blonde hair and brown eyes ask. I look at his uniform to see he was a guard. I push his hand back, "Can't a girl come into a church? You know, to pray?" I ask as I walk away from him, trying to find a weapon. I hear the man chuckle behind me. "Well, gypsies don't believe in God do they? I mean don't you believe in like... bring people back from the dead?" He ask making me roll my eyes.

"It's call reincarnation, and it's not bring them back from the dead, it's when they souls go into a new body. To start a new life." I say as I see a stand with candles on it not lite. "Ah I see, so why are you in here?" I hear the man say as he steps closer to me. "I think you already know." I say as I grab the stand and turn to have the stand hit his sword. He brings his face closer to mine, "Oh yeah, I know." I glare at him as I push back and take another swing. Every swing I took, he would block.

"You know... In some countries, this would be... A dance." The guard says out of breath. "Really? Well, I guess I'll have to find a new partner then, someone who isn't trying to take me to the Judge!" I yell taking another swing but he moved his sword to the side hooking his sword with the stand pulling me in. The man looks me up and down taking a good look at me. "You fight very well for a woman." He says. I smile, "Funny I was going to say the same thing to do you." I say as I kick him back, take my stand back and push it into his chest making him fall back.

I point the stand at his throat and Sven went and sat on his chest holding him down. "Is that a reindeer?" The guard ask. "That's not important, what's important that you leave me alone. Stay away from me." I hiss as I take my stand back. I hear Sven huff at him, "I think your reindeer likes me." The guard says as Sven bites his nose, "Ouch! Damn!" The guard hisses making me smile, "He doesn't like men. Come on Sven, let's go." I say as Sven jumps off the guards chest giving him another huff before he starts to follow me back to the door. Before I could even grab the door handle, I feel the guard grab my arm, turn me around and push my back to the door. I could tell he was upset, but to the point he was pissed, maybe guilty was the feeling I could read from his eyes which make no scene to me. "You know I can't do that. You stole, and you're a gypsy, it's going to be worse for you. Now you can come quietly or I can take you by force. Which is it?" The guard ask.

"I'm not going with you. I didn't steal anything! You are just saying that because I'm a gypsy!" I yell. I keep my eyes locked on his, no way in hell was I going to show him fear, that's what he wanted. "You're feisty, I really like that. I'm Leo, Leo Nevil." "Nevil? You're the Judge son! Oh it makes all the scene! You are a no good, just like..." I start to yell when I hear footsteps coming near us. I look behind Leo to see a priest. "What is going on here?" He ask as Leo let's go of me.

"I'm support to take her in, she... She a criminal." I hear Leo say just making me more pissed. The priest steps forward and looks at Leo. "Leo, you know the rules. She's in the church, the church will protect her. As long as she's in this church, she is safe. As long as she's in this church, you can't touch her." The priest says. Leo looked at him in silents as he finally turns to me, "Fine. You're safe for now." He says as he pushes me aside and grabs the door hand. "But..." He turns his head to me, "We both know gypsies don't like to be locked up in one place for too long."

I feel my eyes widen as he closes the door behind him. I turn back to the priest. "Umm... I don't know what to say." I say making the priest laugh, "You could say thank you." "Oh... Umm, thank you, father?" I say as a question only making him laugh more. "I'll take it, now come, I'll show you where you can sleep tonight." The priest says as he starts to walk away. "Oh, I'm not stay here. I have to leave." I say as I go back to the door. "I wouldn't if I were you." I hear behind me. "Why not?"

"If I know Leo Nevil, which I do, he has this place surrounded with other guard." I could feel my heart drop hearing him say that. What Leo said was true, gypsy don't like to stay in one place for long. I sigh as I turn back to the priest, a fake smile on my face. "I guess I'll stay here until I could figure something out." I say. "Well we have spare rooms upstairs, and you can go where ever you wanted to go but I must ask, don't go up the bell tower."

I raise an eyebrow, "What's up in the bell tower?" I ask my curiosity killing me now. But the priest wouldn't answer me as he gave me a small smile, "Enjoy your night." He says as he walks away for me leaving me alone with a tons of statue all staring at me. I take a deep breath and start to walk around the church to see people sitting, some had their heads down, others cupped their hands together, praying.

I look up to see a statue of what I believe is their God. I walk up closer to it, "I don't know if you can hear me, or if you even care." I say quietly before I do a chuckle, "I don't know if you would even listen to a gypsy's prayer." I wrap my arms around me not looking at the statue, "I know I'm just an outcast, I shouldn't speak to you." I say as I finally look up at the statue again, "Still I see your face and wonder... Were you once an outcast too?" I ask as I turn my back to the statue and start to walk away.

"God help the outcast, hungry from birth, show them the mercy, they don't find on Earth." I say as I start to cup my hands. "Please help my people... We look to you still, please help the outcast, or nobody will." I whisper as I start to hear people behind me, their prays. "I ask for wealth." I hear one man say. "I ask for fame, for glory to shine on my name." Another man says as he un cups his hands and starts to leave the church. I look next to me to see an young lady maybe a few years older then me, her holding her small child in her arms, "I ask for love, I ask for God and his angels to bless me and my child." The young mother says as I see a tear slide down her face as she holds her child closer to her.

I look back to see that the church is almost empty now, "I ask for nothing, I can get by." I start to think about my sister, my friends, everyone that need more help. "I know so many less lucky than I, please help my people, the poor and downtrod." I say as I walk up to the status again, "I thought we all were, children of God." I ask my voice raising with a tear falling form my face. "God help the outcast, children of God." I pray again as I notice that I'm alone.

I don't know if everyone went to their rooms, or if they left the church, all I know is that I'm alone, that was until I hear a noise behind me. I quickly turn,

"Whose there?"

Crap... She heard me. I had to l knock over that stand. I normal don't come downstairs but when I saw this girl run in the church, I couldn't stop myself from seeing what was happening. First I just saw her fight with Leo and it was amazing. I don't know how a girl, a gypsy, a beautiful gypsy with long snow white hair and light blue eyes. It was hard not to watch her as she fought with Leo, and form what I could tell, he was having fun with her, did he like her?

After Leo left, I knew she was going to be trapped in here which should of been my cue to leave but... I stayed as she said her pray for her people. Her long blue skirt with a long slit on the side showing her legs and on top was a blue belly shirt showing her belly making her more beautiful again. I didn't even notice that I was walking towards her until I ran right into that stand knocking it over making her turn towards me. I quickly hide behind a pole.

"Whose there?" I hear her ask making me close my eyes, please forget you heard anything. "I saw you, you can come out. I promise I won't hurt you." I hear her say making me open my eyes, I won't come out. I hear her sigh, "If you don't come out, I'll just have to come and drag you out." I hear her say. She wouldn't dare... Would she? "Okay, I'm coming." I hear her say as I hear footsteps moving closer to me. "Okay, okay I'm coming out." I say as I take a breath and step out from behind my hiding place.

I keep my head down as I look at her bare feet with an ankle bracelet around her right ankle. "Why did you hide from me?" She ask but I don't answer, I'm going to just scare her away. "You're not looking at me either... Is it because I'm a gypsy?" She ask making me shot my head up at her, "No! That's not it at all!" I say making her smile. "Well that made you look at me." She says and I wish I could slap myself.

"You tricked me." I say making her giggle, "I did not, I just wanted to ask why you weren't looking at me. So why weren't you looking at me?" She ask. I keep my mouth shut, a girl like her, would not want to hear me talk. "You really don't say much do you? Hmm..." She says as she places her finger on her mouth then I see her snap her fingers, "I know." She says as she steps closer to me, "What to see a magic trick?" I raise an eyebrow as she raises her hand.

I watch closely as she makes a small snowflake in her hand. My eyes widen, "How..." I ask but put makes the snowflake disappear, "That's my secret." She says with a wink making my cheeks go warm. "What?" She ask a smile dancing on her face. "I.... I bet I know how you did it." I say I don't know why I was trusting this girl so fast, I don't even know her name. "Oh really, then why don't you show me." She says crossing her arms and giving me a wicked smile, half of me felt like she was flirting with me, but there was no way she was, she was just being nice. She was being nice until she see my 'trick'.

I start to take off one of my gloves as I hold my hand up and make a small snow bunny. I start to make it bounce around the girl's head making a smile on her face. "Oh my..." She looks back at me as the bunny goes back into my hand and disappears. "You're just like me." She says as I slide my glove back on my hand. "No... I'm not." I say. "What do you mean you're not? We both know that wasn't a magic trick, you can make ice and snow like I can. It's a gift." She says but I shake my head.

"It might be a gift to you, you're.... an angel. I'm a monster." I say not meaning to call her an angel but it just slipped. "You think you're a monster?" She ask making me nod. She steps closer to me making me step back. "Why are you moving so close? You should stay away from me." She stops after I say that but she won't stop staring at me. "Let me see your hand." She says making me raises an eyebrow, "What?" I ask making her roll her eyes, "I said." As she grabs my hand and pulls it close. She slowly takes off my gloves, "Let me see your hand." She says little ore harsh in it.

I can feel my cheeks start to get warm again feeling her hand holding mine as she looks at my palm. "Hmm..." She says as she starts to trace my palm. "What? What do you see?" I ask scared of what she'll see. "Well, you see this line here?" She ask as point one line on my hand, I nod. "Well this line is your life line, means you'll have a long and happy life." I give her a weak smile, "What else do you see?" I ask as she keeps looking at my palm.

"Well I see your heart line and it's very long which means you have a big heart. But you know what I don't see." She ask. "Wh-what?" I ask making her look up and smile. "A monster line. Which means, you're not a monster." the girls says making me smile, "I'm Jack." I say as she intertwines her fingers with mine, "I'm Elsa." "Elsa... It's a beautiful name." I say seeing some red going into her cheeks before she takes her hand back and lightly hits my shoulder, "You're a flirt Jack, but I kind of like it." She says making me smile.

I look up the stairs behind her, where my home was. "Hey, I... I over heard what you and the priest were talking about and I think I know how to get you out of here without Leo knowing it." I say making her eyes widen, "Really?" I nod as I step close to her to feel something hit my leg. I look down to see a small baby reindeer. "Sven, finally coming out of hiding huh?" Elsa ask as she picks up the reindeer.

"You have a baby reindeer?" I ask making Elsa nod, "I do. His my little man." she says as I see Sven stare at me. I slowly reach out my hand and start to pet his head. "Wow, Sven normally doesn't like strangers. I feel like I need to keep you around Jack." She says making my heart beat faster. "So, how can I get out of here?" She ask breaking me from my thoughts. I stop petting Sven as I step past her, "Follow me." I say as I start to walk. "Where are we going?" Elsa ask as she follows.

"To the bell tower, it's my home."
