• Chapter Twenty Eight •
"Ready babe?" I ask, interlocking Luke and I's fingers and swinging our arms lightly back and forth.
"Yeah, but why are we going to the diner, I can afford somewhere fancier." He says, he pulls away for a brief moment to get in the car but then reconnects our hands once we are both buckled up. I pull out of the driveway with ease and then begin down the road.
"Because I'm craving that bacon burger again." I say casually, I couldn't meet his eye as I said it. I'm a terrible liar. I rub my stomach a little, realizing that I haven't eaten all day except at breakfast. So I actually do really want that burger, but that's not the reason that we are going there.
"Oh god, Paisley are you pregnant?" Luke asks in fear, looking at my hand on my stomach and then to my face.
"What- noooooo." I say nervously in shock. That didn't sound believable at all. But im not pregnant, I haven't had sex since grade ten when I first lost my virginity. So unless I've been growing a baby in my stomach for two years and not gained any weight at all... I don't think I'm pregnant.
"Oh my god, you're pregnant. I'm not the father. Holy shît Paisley! Oh god, oh.... It doesn't matter, I'll take care of the baby anyways. I'll care for her like she's my own. Paisley why are you pregnant?! Why did you cheat on me?" He rambles, he's talking extremely fast and nervously pulling at his hair.
"Luke! Stop. I'm not pregnant." I yell, laughing a little. He visibly relaxes and sighs. "I haven't had sex in over two years. And if I was pregnant, it would be yours." I add. He smiles. I stop the car at the diner and look at him.
"Why did you assume that it was a girl?" I ask curiously. Luke was just too cute sometimes, I actually think he would be a great father, especially to a little girl. He'd always take her for walks and put her in little converses and keep her away from all the boys and he'd be so protective and I really shouldn't be thinking of this. I'm eighteen.
"I've always wanted a little girl." He says shyly. I 'awe' and hug him over the console. He's honestly the cutest thing in the world. I pull away and we walk inside together. "I love you Lukey." I say, "Love you too princess." He responds.
I spot two boys in the back corner, both have blonde hair. I'm guessing that those are his brothers. We walk to the booth next to them and I'm surprised Luke hasn't realized it was them. They don't seem to realize it is us yet either.
I secretly pull out my phone as we sit down and text Jack.
Paisley: hey, I'm sitting here with Luke. Look behind you.
I send him the message and wait for a reply. I hear a ring tone from the other side of the booth and then a head comes from behind Luke.
I smile at the man in front of me, he looks just like Luke only slightly older and has more facial hair. Then, they both get up and appear at the foot of the booth.
"Hi Luke." Jack says. Luke looks up and his jaw drops.
"Hi Paisley." Jack then says, holding out his hand for me to shake. I shake his and Ben's and then look at Luke. He's looking back at me, with a look of.... Thankfulness?
Luke begins to tear up as he looks at the men in from of him again, so does jack. I almost do as well as I watch the exchange. I'm glad Luke isn't mad about this, I was kind of nervous that he would be.
"I missed you little brother." Jack says, Luke stands up and wraps him in a hug. Then the water works come.

"We're so sorry Luke. For everything." Ben says, hugging Luke tightly. After the whole exchange earlier, we all sat down and talked about our lives so far. I didn't really speak much, I mainly listened and supported Luke's answers.
"I just have to ask something though." Luke suddenly interrupts, his expression going from happy to serious in 0.1 seconds. "Why did you leave in the first place?" He asks, scooching closer to me and gripping my hand lightly. I knew he was going to ask this, I just hope the other boys had a more logical explanation than what Luke explained before.
"Well... Luke, you know we love you dearly." Jack begins, running his fingers up and down his face lightly. "There is some things that you don't... Know about the crash." Ben adds. We pay for the bill quickly and then walk out of the restaurant, we had agreed on going for a walk. It is silent again until the cool night air hits our faces.
"When mom and dad were in the car accident... You were in it too." Jack says, stopping in his tracks to wipe away a tear.
"What?" Luke asks, shocked. Matching my expression perfectly.
"You were in the accident too. But right after the accident you went into a coma, then when you woke up, you had forgotten everything about it." Jack says. I feel Luke tremble against my hands.
Luke bursts into tears and I comfort him by letting him cry onto my shoulder. I hate when he cries, it's so heartbreaking. I've only seen him cry about three times, I know he doesn't mean too, he's just a sensitive boy. I love him for that.
"It's okay baby, just cry." I whisper, taking him to sit on a park bench, Jack and Ben waiting patiently on the sidewalk. He hugs me tighter than he ever has before and sobs quietly.
"I'm starting... to remember.. it Paisley." He sobs. Jack and Ben come and sit beside me and jack looks at me over Luke's shoulder, he's looking somewhat guilty. I give him a small smile and continue stroking Luke's head.
"We didn't leave you on purpose buddy. We wanted you to come with us to America, but you were still in a coma when we had to leave. Then we found out that you had gotten amnesia and didn't remember anything. We begged for Aunty to let us fly back but she wouldn't let us. We tried contacting you to bring you over there but we couldn't find you anywhere." Ben explains, suddenly everything makes sense. They didn't leave him on purpose.
Luke's sobs increase dramatically and it gets to the point where I think he's going to puke if it continues.
"Jack, Ben, it was really nice meeting you, we should do this again soon. But I'm going to take Luke home." I say, standing up, Luke still clutching onto me like a child. My poor baby. I hate that he feels this way and I can't do anything about it.
"Okay, I'm sorry Luke. We love you buddy." Jack says, patting his back and then leaving with Ben.
Once they are out of view, I pull Luke's head out of the crook of my neck and wipe away his tears. I rest my hands on his face and take in his features, he's so handsome. Even after crying for fifteen minutes straight.
"Come on babe, you're okay." I say, giving him a longing kiss and walking with him to the car. The roles are reversed as I open the car door for him and reach over to buckle him up. He's obviously tired after tonight's events because after all the sniffles are over he yawns. Then begins to hiccup and sniffle again.
I close the door and walk over to the other side, then I start the car and turn off the music that came blaring through the speakers.
I pull out of the parking lot and begin our journey back to my place, I'm not leaving him by himself after all this.
Once we are going at a steady speed I rest my hand on his leg and rub up and down in a soothing manner, not a sexual manner you weirdo.
"You're okay babe. I love you." I say, glancing over at him briefly. His head is resting against the window and his eyes are closed, the only movements that are made from him are when he slightly jolts upwards from the hiccups. I think he's sleeping.
But even though he was crying, I know he was relieved of some of the pressure and heartache of his past.

Never fear, the better Hemmings is here.
I'm joking, I love my Lukey.
But now that that is cleared up..... We can party.
