Part 9
" Are you really going?" Jihyo asked as she looked at Yunhee fixing her hair.
" Yeah" Yunhee said. " Sorry I couldn't bring you along, he only brought one ticket.
" it's okay, i don't like arts" Jihyo plopped herself on Yunhee's bed. " You need to come home early so that you'll have time to pack"
" Relax, Jihyo. I'm only going there for a day" Yunhee said. She told Jihyo yesterday night that she planned to go to her daycare centre tomorrow. She was shocked by the sudden information but agreed.
" I bet you're not going to come after meeting your crush"
" I won't be like that" Yunhee said, slipping her handbag to her shoulders. She was ready to go.
" Don't you ever tell Hoseok and Yoongi about this. They should never know I went to their hometown, okay" she basically shouted at Jihyo. She showed a okay sign and closed her eyes, ready to fall asleep.
Yunhee chuckled and went outside.
~~~
Yunhee : I'm here
Alex : Great, go to the cashier and tell them your name is nugget.
Yunhee : ???
You seriously used that name?
Alex : I don't know what else to call you
Yunhee : You're enbelivable
Alex : Thanks.
Remember I'm using the name 'V' for my paintings.
Yunhee : Sure
Yunhee took a deep breath and went to the counter. A man was sitting there, his nose buried into his newspaper. There were two boxes beside him, filled with ramens.
" Uhmm... Hello?" she called. The man looked up and she could faint by his handsomeness. He had round eyes, sharp jaws and plump lips that made his face look etheral.
" Ticket, please " he said lazily as he stood up and Yunhee shamelessly checked him out. He had wide shoulders, like really wide shoulders and a build body. Thank goodness Jihyo wasn't here, or she'll shamelessly flirt with him.
" I uhmm don't have tickets" she said timidly.
" Sorry, miss. You can't enter without tickets" he said, folding his arms.
" Well" here it goes. " i'm nugget"
She swear she saw the man almost bursting into laughter before putting a a serious face again.
" Oh, so you're that girl" he said, looking at her closely. " You really do look like her" he said.
" Should I be concerned?" Yunhee asked.
" No" he said. " I don't let people in without anything in return. I would like to know your name"
Yunhee looked at him, feeling uncomfortable.
" Hey, don't look at me like that! It's for safety purpose" the man almost shouted.
" Fine" Yunhee said. " I'll tell you my name, but promise me you won't tell Alex"
" You mean him? Ok"
" Yunhee, that's my name"
" Okay..." he said, smirking and rubbing his hands together. " But that's not what I want" Yunhee scrunched her nose in disgust and tried to walk away but the man held.
" Hold up, you can't enter without giving me something in return!"
" You know what, it's okay. I don't want to enter!" she pushed him and tried to back off. The man didn't let her go, instead he grabbed her arm and pulled her towards the counter.
" Hey, let me go, you creepy man!!" she shouted. He chuckled.
" Come on, it's not like I'm asking for something bad. It's just a small help" he let go of her arm and reached for the box of ramens beside him. " Here you go"
" Huh?"
" A gift from Mr Alex" he shoved two packets into her open bag and pushed her inside. " Have fun, Yunhee!"
The moment she went inside, the warn air hit her face. She gasped as she saw the the arts displayed in the showcase. The arts grabbed her heart and she forgot the ramen packets in her bag.
She walked around a bit, looking at the displays and searching for Alex's paintings. She walked to the end, mesmerized making her stumble on something. She turned around to find a painting that was enough to make her gasp.
It was a painting of a boy wearing a red jacket, reaching an apple from a tree. His mouth was wide open, as if he wants to eat it. There were hands behind him, pushing him closer to the apple and one of the apple was wrapped around his jaw, forcing it open. The boy had a sour look on his face, as if he doesn't want to eat the apple.
Yunhee looked at every part of the painting, trying to see if there was something more. She then found a hand, a small hand tugging him down. She knew it was a girl by the hair that flowed into the frame. That one hand was the only one preventing the boy from eating the apple. There were six more hands at the bottom of the painting, trying to reach for the boy.
She looked at the painting closer and her eyes caught sight of the artist's name. Subtly, she stepped closer and looked at it, trying to read it.
The Boy In Red Jacket
V
Yunhee : That was a nice painting
Alex : You're already in the bus?
Yunhee : Yeah, and I saw all of your paintings yesterday.
Alex : Which one did you like the most? Sorry I didn't reply to your messages yesterday. I was busy.
Yunhee : The boy in red jacket.
But why red jacket though
Alex : Red jacket symbolize innocence
That's why, I had no intention of making fun of your crush
Yunhee : No, I didn't ask because I was angry, I was just curious.
So what does it mean?
Alex : That's up to you to find, nugget
So tell me. You're going to meet your friends today, how are you feeling?
Yunhee : To be honest, scared.
i'm scared I won't be able to meet my friends.
Alex : Relax, maybe not everyone will be there, but some would right?
Yunhee : Yeah, you're right. Atleast one would stay.
Alex : I think it's time for us to stop the conversation. You need to get some rest.
Bye, nugget
Yunhee : Bye, French Fries
Alex : (~ ̄▽ ̄)~
Yunhee smiled looking at his response for the nickname she gave him. It was six am right now and she was comfortably seated in the bus. She was finally going to the daycare centre where she spent the most memorable moments in her life. It would take her four hours and a half to arrive at Busan and she needs to walk for another few minutes to finally arrive at her aunt's town. Her aunt was no longer there, she moved to another residence two years ago.
Yunhee let out a heavy sigh. What would happen when she arrived there? Will she meet them, especially the boy in the red jacket? What would she do if she did? She felt sleepy thinking about them, and before she realized, she was asleep with her head resting in the window.
~~~
A soft pat on her cheek woke Yunhee up. She saw an old woman sitting beside her, her warm hands resting on her shoulder.
" Your destination is here, dear" she said softly.
" Thank you for waking me up, halmeoni" she smiled and stood up. She bowed to her before exiting the bus. Yunhee shivered when her foot finally landed on the peaceful road of Busan. It was colder her comparing to Seoul. She took a deep breath and slowly let it out when she finally realized she was there, at the town where there was nothing expect sweet fond memories.
She quickly took her steps towards the small neighborhood she was always longing to go. Yunhee didn't even stop to eat, although her stomach was practically begging her to fill her up. Her mind was only full of one thing, she wanted to meet her friends, and that's all.
