A Stain, a Narwhal and a Cactus

No Accounting For Taste
From the Arctic there came a narwhal
Who was driven to answer the call
So while craving adventure
It assumed a debenture
To finance a vacation trawl
The distance it swam was impressive
And the tusk that it bore looked impressive
But when it landed ashore
It cried, 'Zut alors!'
Its swimming had been quite excessive
He wasn't pleased at all with the land
Appearing to be all made of sand
And the only occupant found
Was tall, prickly and round
And was not particularly grand
'I say,' the narwhal did exclaim
At the figure its long tusk did aim
'I'm looking for food
And don't wish to be rude
But I think you are one in the same.'
Surprised by the unfriendly greeting
The cactus sad it wasn't good eating
And so it resisted
Still the narwhal insisted
As its threat it continued repeating
The cactus kept up its refrain
You won't like me it tried to explain
But in spite of its plea
It ate and swam out to sea
Leaving nothing on the sand but a stain
**************************
In the box for the next one in line
I leave a geometric design
And just for fun
A half eaten bun
And a roadside commemorative shrine
