Chapter One
She ran. The streets were abandoned and slick with rain water causing her to slip as she went.
"Canna! Come back!"
The girl ignored the man and continued on. The man began to emerge from the mist, his obvious muscles seemed to be the only thing the girl could see.
"Canna-!" The girl interrupted him.
"I know you killed her!" She shouted.
"What?" The man stopped, his fists clenching.
Canna let out a shriek as she slipped and fell onto the cobbled road. There was blood where she lay and she let out whimpers of pain.
"Come home. I'll help you." The man held out his hand to her.
"No! You killed her!" Canna screamed, slapping the hand away.
The man grimaced before scowling at her.
"Come with me before you regret it." He said in a low voice.
"No!" Canna screamed again.
The man didn't hesitate to grab Canna's wrist as he lifted her up, causing her to scream in pain and fear. As the man put a hand to her mouth, house lights began to flicker on.
"What's going on out here?!" A man in a night shirt shouted from his open window.
"My daughter slipped and fell. I'm just trying help her up." The man shouted back.
"He's not my dad! He killed my Mum!" Canna shouted.
A fat man ran out of another house, holding a gun in his hands.
"Let go of the girl." He said sternly.
The man holding Canna immediately unleashed her, glaring at her as the man with the gun got closer.
"Give me your name sir."
"I don't have to ans-"
"Your name, sir!"
"Alonso Nesbitt."
"Alonso Nesbitt, I am Officer Do'nut and the police are coming to ask you a few questions about the death of your wife."
Canna stared in disbelief as the fat, man easily held her captor at gunpoint.
"You! Little black girl! What's your name?" Officer Do'nut shouted, not moving the gun from Alonso.
"Canna. Canna Oversea." Canna replied.
"Is this man your father?" Officer Do'nut questioned.
"No. My father is Xavier Oversea. My parents were divorced a couple months ago and my mother recently began dating this man!" Canna replied, pointing at Alonso who gave her a threatening scowl.
It wasn't long before police cars came barreling onto the road, splashing water on the three. Canna stared at the nearest police officer to her and watched as the man said something into a walkie talkie.
"Hello little girl, my name is Officer Violet and I need you to come with me into my car." A female officer explained, holding Canna's hand gently.
Canna nodded her head in agreement, looking over her shoulder at Alonso while being dragged across the slippery road. Her shoes had no hope in gripping the slippery cobblestone as Officer Violet's grip grew tighter around her wrist. She was quickly flung into a police car and hand cuffs were snapped on her already sore wrists.
"Where are we going?" She questioned.
"Where no one will find you."
