Chapter 4: It's Only the Fourth Chapter Why is There a Beach Chapter?

(Your POV)
"Shota, don't you have friends or something you can attend the beach with instead of me?"

"My parents were both busy with meetings, so I was kind of forced to come here with you and your girlfriend."

"SHE'S NOT MY GIRLFRIEND!"

"But you two live with each other!"

"Correction, we only live with each other."

Shota and I were relaxing on the beach, underneath an umbrella. I was given a day off by my boss, aka Shota's father, to escort the kid to the beach. Luckily, I wasn't alone with this kid, Kobayashi, Tohru, Kanna, Kanna's friend from school who's name I don't care about, and Lucoa joined us. Fafnir and Takiya wanted to stay in and play video games, so that's what they did. Bad news though, Lucoa came. I'm honestly concerned as to whether or not we can possibly find a swimsuit that even fits her physique. Plus her chest size...I swear they have their own gravitational pull. I was most stressed for Shota's innocence.

"Hey (Y/N), Shota." Kobayashi walked up behind me wearing a swimsuit, luckily, she was quite possibly the only person here with a normal body. "The others are still changing."

"Please tell me Lucoa has something modest." I wasn't there when Lucoa got the swimsuit, so it could be anything at this point.

"Not sure what she got, she said you'll like it though." Kobayashi informed me before taking a seat next to me. "Let me guess, worried she's going to pull something stupid? Why not use that magic book or something?"

"I left it at home." I answered flatly as I applied sunblock to my arms. "Hey Shota, have you put on sunblock yet? I don't wish for you to get a burn."

"Oh, thank you." Shota thanked me as I handed him the sunblock. "I'll be sure to save some for you and your girlfriend."

"For the last time, Shota," I took a breath in and mentally screamed. "Lucoa. Is. Not. My. Girlfriend."

"I bet you wish she was though." Kobayashi smirked, and I shot her a glare in response. "Watch out Shota, the Ice King is angry."

"Kobayashi!" Tohru tackled the red haired girl into a hug, causing Kobayashi's head to rest in Tohru's chest. "So what do you want to do? Do you want to go swimming? Maybe smash a watermelon? Oh! If you're hungry, you can have my tail!"

"Ocean!" Kanna emerged from behind Tohru, excitedly holding a plastic red shovel and a plastic blue bucket.

"Hey Kanna, let's go build sandcastles over there!" Kanna's brown haired friend pointed at a spot in front of us, and the two girls went to go build sandcastles.

"Stay where we can see you two!" I shouted at the two like a concerned parent. While I took out a book from my bag to start reading. Not Minerva mind you, just a copy of The Tempest by William Shakespeare.

"Oh hey, (Y/N) is like a dad, just like you said!" Tohru smiled, and you felt as though a blood vessel was about to burst from your head.

"Shut it." I said to the two girls before two orbs pressed themselves against my back. "Oh hey Luco-AH?!"

I turned my head around to look at Lucoa, only to see she was wearing a black, revealing swimsuit. The swimsuit itself was literally just some black straps that only covered the important bits, everything else was on full display. I sighed and closed my book with a thunderous thud.

"Lucoa, what on Earth are you wearing?" I tried keeping my cool, but my face was most likely crimson red and I was sweating profusely.

"A swimsuit, do you like it?" I don't think Lucoa was intentionally trying to seduce me, I think she was one of those 'touchy feely' people who have no sense of personal space. A kind of person I'm weak against.

"I think it's much too small for you." I felt Lucoa rest her head on my shoulder, looking at my book to see what I was reading. "We should go find you a swimsuit that actually fits before you're arrested for being an exhibitionist."

"An exhi-what?" Lucoa tilted her head before I tossed her a towel. Lucoa grabbed the towel by the edges and examined the towel. Wait, how was she examining it, her eyes were closed. "Pfft, (Y/N), what kind of towel is this?"

"What's wrong with it?" I asked as I turned around to see Lucoa showing off my towel, which was a picture of Plato's face photoshopped onto Dwayne Johnson's body. "I see nothing wrong."

"Why!" Lucoa then started laughing at my towel, and I grabbed it from her hands and wrapped it around her. "Why is Plato so buff?"

"He's rumored to have been a pro wrestler back in his day, so don't question it." I informed the girl before standing up and holding out my hand. "Come on, I'll pay."

"Huh? I thought you would have liked this swimsuit?" Lucoa asked, and I adjusted my glasses while I looked away.

"I do, I just don't want anyone else looking at you like that." I avoided eye contact with the green haired girl, who smiled upon hearing my response.

"So you did like it~!" Lucoa smiled while examining my face, smiling even wider as she noticed my blushing face.

"S-Shut up!" I helped Lucoa up from the sand and began walking to the swimsuit shop nearby, and Lucoa followed me, still covering herself in the towel. "Kobayashi, I'm trusting you to watch Shota, Kanna, and her friend. Tohru, help Kobayashi, if you hinder her, I will use my book to ensure she never eats your tail."

"Y-Yes sir!"

Lucoa and I began walking through the small town that sat beside the beach, but as we walked through the town, I noticed how Lucoa was getting stares from almost every guy on the street. I decided to walk alongside the woman, so people would assume we were dating, or at least piece together that we were acquainted with one another. As we walked side by side with one another, I felt something soft envelop my hand closest to Lucoa. I looked at the hand to see Lucoa had intertwined her fingers with my own. I looked at the woman, who smiled.

"Come on, if you just walk next to me, people won't know how close we are." Lucoa giggled, and I felt my face get warm. Lucoa then leaned close to my ear. "I know what you're trying to do, trying to make sure no one flirts with me, and thank you for that."

"O-Of course, I'm sure such a beautiful woman such as yourself gets hit on so many times it gets annoying." Shit! I accidentally called Lucoa beautiful! Now she's gonna tease me again isn't she!?

"You really think so?" Now it was Lucoa's turn to have her face turn red? Well, I guess there's a first time for everything. "Thank you, (Y/N), you're quite the catch yourself."

"S-Shush." I was now red faced as we finally reached the swimsuit shop. "Finally, we're here. Now let's hurry up and buy something so we don't leave Kobayashi alone with the kids and Tohru for too long."

"Okay~!"

(Timeskip, brought to you by (Y/N) glaring at anyone who stared at Lucoa)

"So...given how this is Lucoa, we couldn't find anything G-rated."

"Well, better than that other swimsuit."

I was now back at the beach, sitting next to Kobayashi while reading the Tempest. I made sure to keep an eye on the kiddos, with the two girls playing in the water with Tohru and Shota building himself a sand castle to try and compete with the two girls. Lucoa was lying on a beach towel with her chest rising and falling and a hat over her face. I think she was asleep. Her new swimsuit was slightly more appropriate, just an orange bikini. I suggested that she buy a one piece, but she couldn't find one her size. Still, the bikini covered more skin than the first one, so I guess I'll let it slide for now.

"Hey (Y/N), I've always wondered something." Kobayashi turned her head towards me. "I notice you often compliment Lucoa a lot, have you ever considered dating her?"

"Yeah, I have, but I don't think I'll ask her out." I answered, not looking up from my book.

"If you like her, why not take a shot?" Kobayashi tilted her head in confusion, not that I blame her.

"Just because I like her doesn't make it a valid reason to ask someone out." I sighed before closing my book. "Besides, I don't really see myself as relationship material."

"Because you're cold and shut off from everyone around you." Kobayashi pointed out, and while painfully accurate, it wasn't the sole reason.

"N-No, the main reason is because I can't express my feelings properly." I put my face in my hands. "I'm so used to just being...apathetic, that whenever I feel anything, I get defensive and hide my face away from people."

"So when Lucoa interacts with you, what emotion do you honestly feel?" Kobayashi asked, and I thought for a couple of moments before giving my honest answer.

"I honestly feel...happy that someone like her spends time with someone like me." I removed my hands from my face. "Sure sometimes I wonder if she's even real, but she's outgoing, brave, and tends not to care much about what other people think about her."

"So let's say hypothetically that if you asked Lucoa out, and she said yes, what would be your first reaction?" Kobayashi asked me, and I lifted the hat on Lucoa's face to see if she was actually asleep. She looks like she was asleep, which is good enough for me. I slipped the hat back on Lucoa's face.

"I'd honestly be pretty happy." I sighed whilst looking at the ocean. "I'm not sure if I'd be a good boyfriend or not, but I'll try my best to make her happy."

"What about yourself?" Kobayashi asked a confusing question.

"Huh?" I tilted my head.

"If she said yes, and she cares about you, are you going to take care of yourself?" Kobayashi stared at me, is she a mind reader? "Knowing you, you'll overwork yourself and burn out, maybe getting an injury, and making her worry about you."

"You thought way too much about this..."

"Knowing you, it's not too far off."

Moments later, Lucoa woke up. Lucoa raised herself so she was sitting before stretching her arms upwards and letting out a surprisingly cute yawn. Lucoa then got up from her beach towel and stretched her hand out towards me.

"Hey, come on, I want to go play in the ocean for a bit." Lucoa grabbed onto my hand and pulled me up from my spot. "Come on!"

"Why do I have to come with you?" I asked the girl before setting my book down to stand up.

"You don't want a bunch of guys hitting on me do you?" Lucoa asked innocently, and she was right, I was concerned with her.

"Fine, I'll go with yoOOOUUU!" Before I could finish my sentence, Lucoa ran towards the water until we were chest deep in the water. "You could have at least let me take off my glasses first!"

"Yeah, but then it wouldn't have been any fun when I did this."

Lucoa confused you for a moment before Lucoa suddenly pushed you with a devilish smile, causing you to trip on a nearby rock and fall back first into the ocean. This part of the ocean appeared to be deeper than the rest because I fell straight into the ocean and opened my eyes. The salt stung my eyes, but I needed to find my glasses which appeared to have floated away from my face. Then I noticed someone jumped in after me with a big splash. The floating green hair and horns were a dead give away. I could feel my glasses place themselves on my face thanks to Lucoa. I swam to the surface of the water with Lucoa so our heads could come from the top of the water.

"What the hell was that?!" I shouted at Lucoa, who was laughing the entire time, a hearty and full hearted laugh that was loud enough to reach the sky.

"I-I'm so sorry, I just couldn't help it!" Lucoa got out between laughter, and despite my tone, I wasn't entirely angry. "Hey, how about this, I'll buy you an ice cream or something as an apology."

"It's fine, I didn't lose my glasses, so I guess it's all okay." I poured while looking towards the beach.

Then I saw Kanna swallow a crab whole.

(A/N: Okay, sorry about dropping this series for a while. I'm not sure what happened, but I'll try to update more consistently nowadays. Honestly I was thinking about discontinuing it but then I decided to update it just cuz. Besides, I kind of like the seductive beauty x tsundere bookworm trope, mainly because it's funny as hell to me for some reason.
