TBoT 3D Map Project
Hello, my dear TBoT readers!
You've probably been wondering; "What happened, GreenScholar!? Why did you suddenly fall off the face of the Earth, with no book updates since Christmas!?"
Do I have a story for you... ;-)
I fell in love, you see.
6 months ago, I met a man unlike anyone I'd ever met before. Someone so kind, so smart, so hard-working, cultured (and handsome!) that he turned my whole world upside-down. We are now happily dating, and full of all kinds of exciting plans for our future.
About 3 months into our relationship, I showed him TBoT. He took Volume 1 home with him, read it cover to cover, and is now working his way through the rest of the series. A couple weeks before my birthday in March though, he surprised me with an idea.
He intended to build me a map. A 3D printed, fully detailed map of the world of Goran.
First, he commissioned a digital arts and graphics designer, to build the 3D blueprint for the map.
Then, he put his printer to work, going through countless trouble-shooting sessions and spools of filament.
Carefully printing out piece by piece...
...Until the world I had dreamed up as a teenager came to life before our very eyes.
Every day, he would come home to work on the map...
...And then the painting began.
Every time he sent me an update, I wanted to squeal and burst into tears of joy simultaneously.
To see this place, a world which until now had existed only in my imagination and in my writing, come to life...
...Has been a treasure and a gift which I will never forget.
The map isn't finished yet, far from it in fact! I still have so many castles and buildings to paint, and my boyfriend considers this coat the 'base layer', with many further details to be added. We have textures such as trees, sand, and grass, courtesy of our local hobby shop, which will all need to be glued on once the painting is complete.
Every time I look at the map, which is currently sitting on a table in my living room, I feel a rush of such love and pride. I dreamed up this world, and then my boyfriend brought it to life. I only half-jokingly tell him that I intend to display the finished model in the middle of our family's dining room table someday. He however, thinks it should go right in the front entrance, to greet visitors as they walk through the door. ^_^*
I apologize for the extended delay, and cannot confirm for certain when there might be future story updates for TBoT. I so appreciate each and every one of you who have come along on this storybook journey with me, and hope one day to finish the journey for us all.
Blessings, and best wishes.
~ GreenScholar
