ok so my brothers and i were looking through pennies this morning. yesterday we were trying to find the shiniest penny for my sister to take to japan. anyways we decided to make a contest this morning to find the oldest penny. i won by finding a 1954 wheat penny. my brothers found 1959 pennies soon after. we looked up how much they were worth and the 1959s were worth $28 and the 1954 was worth $18. we concluded that it didn't matter anyways but it was fun!
we had lots of pennies to look through because my mom throws her loose pennies(and an occasional dime or nickle or quarter) into a jar(actually my sister found a whole roll of dimes lol). so she has a large vase of pennies in her room and also a half-filled small teapot. thats where we got the pennies and my mom didn't care if we kept a couple so i kept the 1954, 1966, and the two 1964 pennies.
when we were little, mom would bring out the vase and dump some onto a cookie sheet and let us count them. that was when we had just mastered our numbers tho so we were pretty bad at it and always very inaccurate about how much money was really there lols.
i still remember how we marveled at the rusted green pennies we would find and then we would soak them in vinegar to shine em up. that was my childhood! we also like to count my dads quarters he has in the basement. he wouldn't let us keep those tho especially the half dollar coins or the dollar coins we would sometimes find in the jar.
we still have tons of pennies and quarters laying around in jars. tbh we could probably pay off all the bills with just pennies and quarters lols!
but yeah so i hope you enjoyed my little uh story? for the day! so yeah bye~!
