In Which I Emerge From Hibernation to Talk About Stuff.
It's been a long time.
Well, I started college; that's going well. I'm actually ahead on assignments, which has never happened before. You'd think then, that'd leave me a lot of time to write.
In theory, yes, you'd be correct. But my spare time has been devoted to walking and watching this.

WAIT NO, SORRY. That was a mistake. I guess it is related though.
I meant to show this.

You could argue it's a waste of time (it's not), but this show is so much better than any of the stuff that's on TV today. (And with my mental state these days...I need something positive in my life.)
I can boil down my love of this series so far to three reasons:
1. Positive view of the future. With all the dystopian/futurist shows out there spreading doom and gloom about the future of the world, I appreciate SOMEONE out there understanding that we can be hopeful about the future. *sigh*
2. Philosophical themes. This is the Omnibus student in me coming out, but I love how most of the episode deal with hard, hard choices, with moral implications. It usually isn't a perfect ending.
3. Characters. Sure, the acting's a bit rough at times. But the characters themselves are fantastic and I actually care about them and their futures...unlike in those STUPID Abrams movies. Also I think I might be suffering from Spock-mania. That is all.
Also, if it weren't for Star Trek, we wouldn't have Galaxy Quest, my favorite parody ever made.

Anyhow, I'm working up the nerve to open my book file up again and read through the damage, so maybe I'll have something next week. Who knows? It's 2020. What a year.
