A Few Thoughts on Hysteria...

Boy...this has been some week.

Last Monday I thought this was going to be a normal week, albeit with precautions taken at medical facilities and nursing homes. Sure, of course. Toilet paper was sold out everywhere too, but we have a stash, so no need to resort to the black market.

With the number of cases in my state being low, it wasn't recommended that we cancel events, so I went along my merry way and suffered through the final week of third quarter with exam studying. Fun stuff.

Friday, the governor shut down all the schools in my state  for two weeks and the county I reside in is going trigger happy with cancellations. Everything's being shut down, without warning. Today I found out all the libraries in my area are being closed for two weeks.

TOO FAR, I SAY. TOO FAR.

Every single company has been sending emails with "their response to COVID-19." Colleges are moving to virtual learning (which is a great way to learn, if you ask me), but what about food and lodging? Are students out thousands of dollars now because you shut down schools out of fear?

Have we all gone crazy?

Sure, this is an introvert's dream world. You're encouraged to stay at home. No. Social. Contact. I mean, who could ask for anything more?

But sooner, rather than later, people will grow stir crazy. Yes, even the introverts. Parents who aren't used to having their kids home will probably wish school was back in session. Homeschooling parents will be the experts needed to guide other parents through these trying times. 😂

It's going to be an interesting couple of weeks, but we'll get through it.

My parents and I have had some interesting discussions lately, with this pandemic. Dad believes the nation has gone a bit too far with the restrictions and quarantining everyone (hence why our church will still be holding services tomorrow.) It's coming, yes. It will come, no matter how many precautions we take. Yes, we should still be wise and seek protect those who are more vulnerable.

But there's no need to turn everyone's lives upside down because of ONE VIRUS.

Thankfully though, this isn't the end of the world, folks. It's just one crazy experience that we'll be able to tell our kids someday, Lord willing.

So grab that pile of books/movies/TV shows you've been wanting to work your way through and use this time wisely. It'll be over soon...hopefully soon.

(If anyone wants a list of books/movies/TV shows to try, since now is the time, pm me.)

As for me, school is still in session. Perks of being schooled online... 😎
