Finally, they've started the earliest stages of the casting call! This is great news, and there are a few things I wanted to mention, which are:

Percy's Age

One of the biggest complaints about the movies was Percy's age. I mean, come on, this guy

is way older than this:

So you know most of the fandom was happy when they saw that Rick was saying that they're looking for an actor who can "play twelve"  It's a breath of fresh air that we can finally get a good representation of Percy Jackson's character.

Percy's Ethnicity

Some time ago, there was a bit of a controversy about Hermione, and her ethnicity. Most of you have probably seen J.K Rowling's tweet:

Which got a lot of back-lash, because she kind of did  specify it.

Why I bring this up is because Rick said the casting was open to all races (which I have no problem with, to be honest I don't really care, as long as he has sea-green eyes and black, or at least dark-brown hair.)

A similar thing could happen if, say, there was a black Percy. However, I feel like there's a bit more diversity in the Riordan Fandom + Books, so it'd be better accepted. The only thing I remember about Percy is that he had a Mediterranean complex (described by Frank in The Son of Neptune.  This guy practically never described himself.)

But honestly, it doesn't matter, plenty of people have a white Percy, or other ethnicity Percy's (which, being honest, are not as common)

So that's definitely something to look at, if you're interested.
