Succubi have the power to turn guys into slaves with their beauty. They are also illusionists and a powerful succubus could kill someone with their illusions. Some succubi are said to act in a seductive way. I'm not really sure where legends of them first originated. As well as having the power to control men, succubi are said to chose a "mate of fate" whom they obsess over and try to control. According to the legends, it is hard for the succubus to give up on her "mate".  There is a male version of this demon called an incubus.
