WHEN DOES GIRLHOOD ROT !

When do the pearls about her neck lose there luster, when does the soft lace of her dress grow tattered and riddled with filth — when does she grow out of what once made her a child?

Dorothea Bardot was honey wrapped up in pearls and satins. Expensive baroque scarves tied about her head, protecting the hair that never looked a strand out of place. French perfumes and manicures hung on her skin, luxurious oils and lotions lathered along her skin (to keep you youthful, her mother would tut).

Poor Dorothea, why do such beautiful girls reap such sorrows?

Crystals tears glittered down ruby cherub cheeks, her eyes shining like emeralds as they glaze over in agony.

After all,  beautiful girls look the prettiest when they cry!

Paul Lahote was quite possibly the only person who knew the true extent of her woes. The neglecting mother, the spiteful father, her absent brother and do no wrong sister. After all, Paul Lahote knew a thing or two about rageful fathers and absent mothers.

To everyone else, they were the perfect couple. He was a star quarterback, she was the perfect girl next door — both straight out of a 1950s romantic flick where everything is nicely tied up with a bow as our two protagonists ride off into the sunset.

So how did it all go wrong?

Literally so excited for this!! Me, honeyrots and amxliewrites have been chatting up on discord for these two fics and I think y'all are in for a treat! I highly recommend y'all also go and check out her version of The Book Club! It's for Sam and I'm already ready for them (but also read mine *wink wink*)

EDIT: so this is the revamp! There are some major changes in terms of character and (partial) storylines, but i will be keeping a very large portion of the old version alive in this one! As much as i love Davina, something wasn't clicking. The dialogue felt rushed and I just couldn't find it in myself to flesh everything out — with Dotty I feel like I can. I really hope you all enjoy what I have in store, and that you all love Dotty (and Paul) as much as I do!
