Matilda Simons was jovial. She couldn't believe that her husband Peter Simons had gifted a cute, brown bear- Matilda's favorite animal, as her birthday gift. She jumped up and down like a kid in a candy store. Peter's heart melted at her excitement. "Am I dreaming?" asked Matilda, with a huge grin on her face. Peter chuckled and said, "No dear, it is true". They bought the bear and decided to name him Barney.

As soon as they bought the bear home, Matilda was running frantically for building a shelter for Barney. Somehow, Peter managed to calm down Matilda and told her to clean up Barney, while he builds the shelter. Little did Matilda know, the shelter was already made and was at their garden. After the clean-up, she took Barney outside. Peter, who was getting the shelter's final touches done, saw them and waved for them to come over.

They both went, and what Matilda saw surprised her. "I didn't know that you made this so fast..." asked Matilda, while pointing to the adorable house. "I had some of my friends' make this earlier, while we were out" said Peter, while giving her a grin and a one-sided shrug.

At first, the couple knew that Barney was uncomfortable. They tried their best to make him feel at home- fed him lots of food, played with him, took him to the garden...

A few weeks later, they succeeded in making him happy.

Months after, the two of them decided to have a day together with Barney at their home. Matilda was cooking, and Peter was teaching Barney some tricks. Suddenly, Barney became violent and started howling like a mad wolf.

He threw things around the room, pushed down the shelves, and started running here and there. Peter, who was witnessing the entire sequence, called out to his wife. "What is it Peter?" asked Matilda, who came running from the kitchen. He pointed to the mess made by their beloved bear. She gasps. She couldn't believe this with her own eyes. She turned to Peter, who was also shocked, and asked "What happened?"

"I don't know. One second we were having some fun and the next you see..." he trailed off, while pointing to the disaster. Matilda shook her head and sighed. "I believe it's better we return Barney back to his real home. I don't really think he was comfortable as we thought he is". Peter nodded, and agreed to her.

The next day, they were at the zoo with Barney in Matilda's side. As much as it hurt them both to leave Barney, the pair felt that the decision taken was right. The zoo keeper took the bear into its real nature; while Matilda shed few tears and shuffled closer to Peter, who had a pained expression on his face. After standing there for few moments, they returned back home.

Soon, they realized a thing. There will always be a special bond of love between humans and animals. Animals have feelings and reciprocate to love with warmth and affection. Humans may neglect wild animals, but animals also have their faith on us.
