TBC: Chapter Twenty Three

Dr. Nicca James Alfarone

Arriving in Moscow, Russia seemed like the fastest yet slowest trip I had ever taken. "That was quick." I muttered, pulling my luggage along with me down the gate exit. "Heh. That's because you were sleep the whole way here, ya bloody twat." Jose rolled his eyes as he came to stand next to me, a look of confusion on his face. "What the hell does that sign say?" He tilted his head. "I wouldn't know. I'm not Russian. That's what I had Mikhail for." We stood in the middle of the airport, staring up at the big, black sign plastered on the ceiling with an arrow pointing to the left. "Oh, god. We didn't think this through." Jose sighed.

"It says Навес, or carport in English." We turned our head to see Kaiden approaching us with a soft smile on his face and his duffel bag around his body. "You guys are totally useless." He rolled his eyes and Jose folded his arms. "I forgot you came along." He snorted, chuckling under his breath. "How?" Kaiden raised a brow at Jose. "I was sitting right next to you." Jose turned red and ignored him, wheeling around to face me. "Can we go before I murder this figglio di puttana?!" I smirked in response as we began walking left to exit the airport. We had everything we need to get around Moscow except for Mikhail's location and transportation.

I was a little anxious. It was this feeling in the pit of my stomach, like something was happening. It felt as if something was burning through the tissues of my stomach and I had a pounding headache like someone was hitting me in the skull with a 10 ton hammer. It was a little weird and unbecoming because I performed a check up on myself and I was declared fine except for the occasional bout of stupidity, so why was I feeling like this? Why did I feel like I had died ten times over and came back to life?

"The pain you're feeling," I snapped my head up to face Kaiden, who had a serious look on his face. "Is most likely the pain Mikhail is experiencing or what he is about to experience." He admitted, closing his eyes. "What do you mean?" I puzzled, staring at him with a quizzical expression. His confession did nothing but scare me and all it did was push me further to the edge. I needed to find Mikhail. "I'll tell you, just not here." He sniffed the air, his eyes turning black. "I smell rogues." He motioned for us to continue walking out to the car lot, his hand on the small of Jose's back. "How are we supposed to get around?" Jose sputtered, folding his arms. "Easy." Kaiden smirked, his eye color fading into its original. "I ordered for a car to pick us up."

I stared in disbelief at Kaiden West. In the short time that I had known him, he managed to become one of Mikhail's good friends, which meant that he knew things that I didn't. He was also a werewolf, though I didn't know of his status. We exited the airport and saw that there were many lines full of cars, some new, some old. There were far more Russians signs out here in the crisp, cool weather. I shivered a bit involuntary, noticing that it wasn't me that was cold. I was used to cold weather so why was I shivering? I furrowed my eyebrows as I watched Kaiden walk up to one of the attendants with a list of cars attached with names.

"Я ищу человека, которого зовут Александр Петров." He spoke in clear, crisp Russian and Jose and I looked at each other like we were the inferior beings. "Aleksandr Petrov?" The female attendant responded and Kaiden nodded. "Это черный BMV прямо там." She pointed to a black BMV to our right and we gave her thanks, bidding our farewell. We dragged our belongings over to the car and a tall man with red hair and green eyes stepped out, his face void of all emotions. "I take it, you are Aleksandr Petrov?" I asked and he nodded, a small smile on his face. "It is very nice to meet you in person, Alpha." He bowed to me and my eyes widened. "Oh no, I'm not some sort of...." My voice trailed off as he looked at me skeptically. "You are mated to my Alpha Mikhail Baranov, correct?" My eyes widened in response and I clutched the mark on my neck unconsciously.

"Ah, you are." Aleksandr opened the trunk for us, placing our bags inside. "It's good timing, must I say." He snorted, reaching a hand and I grabbed his, shaking it firmly. "We must go. It is urgent." He opened the doors for us and we got in, making sure we were safe before he drove off from the airport.

"I can smell fear on you, Aleksandr." Kaiden wiggled his nose around as I gaped at the beautiful structure of downtown Moscow. Everything was so tall and there were many ancient buildings that I wanted to explore. "What's there to be afraid of?" Jose asked and Aleksandr sighed from the driver seat. "Yesterday, a few moments after Mikhail had landed back in the pack, we had a rogue invasion." He sighed, wincing in pain. "We didn't think that there would be that many rogues but needless to say, the Blazing Rage is no more." Kaiden listened intently and so did I. "Everyone who made it out safely is now in a safe home on the outskirts of Moscow, where we are headed."

"Does anyone have any idea why they would suddenly attack?" Kaiden inquired and Aleksandr shook his head. "No," He fixed the rearview mirror so that he was looking me deep in the eye. "But the former Alpha Savastian seems to think it has something to do with Mikhail's newfound mate." He didn't say it like he was wary of me, more like he was confused. "Focus on the road, Aleksandr. We don't need you getting more hurt than you already are." I muttered, biting my lip. That didn't sit right with me, that I could be the cause of this. Furthermore, I needed more information to determine something. I leaned my head on the window and closed my eyes.

After many hours of driving, I felt someone tapping on me. "Oi, Nicca! Wake your lazy arse up! We're here." I felt Jose slapping me awake as I sat up straight, furrowing my eyebrows. "Come on." He gave me a hand out of the car as I came to face many tall trees hidden beyond the thick mist and fog. "Where are we? This looks creepy." I spat out, noticing the tall house hidden beyond the trees. "We are in a safe area surrounded by wolfsbane coated in liquid mistletoe to keep out unwanted wolves." Aleksandr explained. "This is the former home of the Blazing Rage pack." He motioned for us to follow him and so we did, walking along the black trail of rocks that led to the front door of the house.

"They're expecting you, Nicca."

I narrowed my eyes as we entered the warm house, the atmosphere friendly and pleasant. It reminded of the inside of a castle with its long chandelier hanging from the ceiling, marble flooring with tan colored walls and many types of furniture. It was beautiful. "Who's expecting me?" I questioned and before Aleksandr could reply, a voice spoke. "Well, it's very nice to be welcomed by our next Luna." I turned my head to see a very beautiful lady walking down the grand staircase, her long, decadent brown hair with her green eyes and tanned skin. She was beautiful. "Hi, I'm Nicca." I smiled softly as she came to me, her eyes twinkling. "I'm Svetlana Baranov, the former Luna." She smiled as she took my hand. "It's so great to finally meet the man who caught my son's eye." I chuckled, noticing a tall man with salt and pepper hair with brown eyes behind her. "This is the former Alpha, Savastian Baranov." I nodded him and he stared grimly.

"Don't take him personally. He's a little upset." Svetlana's long dress pooled around her as she motioned for us to follow her into the sitting area. "What's he so upset for?" Jose asked and I stared at him like he was an idiot. "I know you guys just got attacked, excuse my insensitivity, but now that Mikhail is back, can't you fix it?" He shrugged as we took a seat on a sofa. Savastian let out a sigh of frustration before he spoke. The atmosphere was dark and deadly with each word that he spoke. "Have you heard of the prophecies of the moon?" I didn't but Kaiden nodded in response. "Something like chosen werewolves?"He asked and Savastian nodded in response.

"Many, many years ago when the first werewolf was created, the Moon Goddess was looking for a way to bestow all of her power into three wolves so when she died, she was still living within them. She was a powerful woman and all supernatural feared her." Savastian explained, a far look on his face. "She had certain qualities of these wolves you see, so she couldn't just pick anyone. She only found two wolves but she was looking for another. She only found you, a human." He raised his eyebrow skeptically. "It must be because you are of royal descent or you're a non-shifted wolf." I sighed. "It's the former. I'm the heir to the Alfarone family of Arondale." I muttered quietly. As far as I knew, they weren't my enemies. "WHAT?!" Jose screeched madly, whacking me in the arm. "That's explains everything." He sighed.

"I can smell royalty on you, Nicca. That means if I can, you know damn well the rogues and all of the enemies can." Savastian spat out, his Russian accent clouding his words. "What are these prophecies anyhow?"

"There's the Chosen Luna, The Chosen Alpha and the Chosen Warrior." Savastian stated. "In this case Nicca, you are the Chosen Luna." He confessed and my eyes widened in confusion. "W-What does that mean?" I questioned. "It means that you found your mate through a long and unusual process but you hold all of the power." Svetlana began. "It doesn't necessarily mean that you are a wolf yourself, but you have the ability to create, command and control one. You are essential in every rogue war. For years, mankind has been looking to find and eradicate something like you because you have the power to kill and entire nation at will. You have dormant powers that will take time to rise but it shouldn't be long. It's probably why so many people were after you." She said casually and my eyes widened as the man of question never appeared.

"Wait, where is Mikhail?!" I got tired of them beating around the bush. My heart was beating in anticipation and I wanted nothing more than for my lover to appear. "I'm sorry Nicca, to say this to you since you came all this way just to see him." Svetlana closed her eyes, a tear escaping and I knew the worst had already happen. My chest tightened and my eyes began to fill with tears, my fists clenched into balls. I found it hard to breathe, the pain coming together all at once as I panted. I just wanted Mikhail here and in my arms. I wanted my love here, telling me that everything was going to be okay. I wanted his lips on mine, to be reminded of that night. I wanted to look him deep in his beautiful eyes, those cold eyes, just to be sure that he was real and here with me but I couldn't. My heart felt like it was crushed beneath someone's foot as I held my breath.

"He was taken by the rogues."
