TBC: Chapter Nineteen

Dr. Nicca James Alfarone

"Where am I?" blinked my eyes open, a bit surprised when they didn't hurt. I was more surprised with the fact that I could actually open them fully. I was still in a bit of a haze as I looked around, the remnants of the blue walls and familiar photos and the clothes all over the floor made me realize that I was in my room, in my bed. "Huh?" I asked breathlessly, reaching a hand up to rub my head. "What happened?" I whispered, trying to run my mind through the events that took prior to this. Was I dead?

"Hey. Sit up." I turned my head slightly to see Jose sitting next to me, a small smile on his face. I did as he told, wondering why it was so easy for me to sit up. My back was nearly paralyzed and my arms were bleeding and they were numb as if I didn't have any. But as I looked at my tanned arms and legs, there was a shocking revelation on the fact that there was no blood and no evidence that I had been kidnapped. "Huh?" I sputtered, flipping away the blankets as I stared at my leg, appalled. "I had to have been having a nightmare that seemed real because I truly remember touching my bone that was splinting apart in my shin!" I gasped in horror. Was I imagining things? Was this magic? What was happening? I ran my fingers along my leg, feeling my blood running through the veins. Just moments ago, there was blood running down the side of my leg as my flesh was open and exposed to the dangers of the air. My bone was sticking out, breaking apart with every move I made. I reached my fingers up to my face, feeling no marks or anything at all. "No. No. No." I shook my head. "I did not imagine that." I started shuddering in confusion as Jose smiled as gently as he could. "That's because you didn't imagine it." He grabbed my hand, a serious look in his eyes like he was about to tell me something life changing.

"What do you mean?" I narrowed my eyes at him, wondering if he was making me seem like I was the crazy one here. "Then where is the blood? The bandages? Why don't I see anything of that?!" I was on the verge of panicking. Was I seeing things? "That's because Mikhail took your pain." Jose said like that wasn't the most unheard thing he ever said. "What?!" I curled my lip up in absurdity, wanting him to stop filling my head with all of these conspiracies. "Jose, Mikhail isn't a doctor so explain to me how he would be able to make me look like this." I rubbed my head, the onset of a headache coming as he stared at me. "Well, as a wolf, he has the ability to take others pain and heal them by touching them." He explained casually and I nodded, dumbfounded. I was going along with his words but I didn't believe a thing he said. "There's a way he does it but I'm not sure." I nodded, going along with his game. "And you know this how?" I was tired and I was sure that I was hallucinating. No one could wake up from being brutally beaten without at least one wound but here I sat in my bed, nice and comfortable, no open or closed wounds on sight.

"He's shown me his wolf. Don't you remember last night? He's this big, red wolf with big eyes?" He offered and I was taken back. So I hadn't imagined that. I had actually lived through that and the thing standing in front of me all that time, that atrocity! On the automatic panic I felt remembering that, my body began to shake. "T-that fucking monster was Mikhail?!" I spattered angrily, clenching the sheets that had pooled around me. I shook my head, not understanding the words he was saying. "Jose, there's nothing I hate more than being lied to." I said, sighing at the fact that there was irony in my statement. "There's no way in hell that Mikhail Baranov could be that damned demon beast!" I sputtered and I watched as Jose's face contorted into one of anger. "How the hell would you know anyway!?" I set my lips into a stern line, glaring at him. There was no way that Mikhail was something that should have been a myth.

If he was, he would have told me. He would have told me before anything else. I knew everything about him, from his favorite color to the mole that sat on the crease of his back when he sat just about 90 degrees. Why wouldn't he tell me something like this?

"Because Nicca, he told me, ya bloody wanker." Jose spat. "I have known for a long time and I tried to tell you but I knew it was no good because you would just act like this." Jose shook his head, folding his arms. "Act like that?" I tilted my head, trying to understand what he was getting at. "Nicca, you're my best friend but right now, you're acting like a total dick and that the whole world revolves around you." He stood. "Accept the fact that Mikhail is the same guy you saw as that wolf last night. I don't see why that's a problem." He rolled his eyes at me and I swung my legs over the side of the bed. "You knew?!" I hissed venomously, trying to shy away from the fact that he was right. "But he's that thing!" I couldn't find any words to describe what Mikhail looked like last night. "That thing saved your life." Jose cut in, his eyes staring daggers into my skin. "You're not afraid he could kill you?!" I demanded to know but he shook his head. "No. If he wanted to, he would've done so already."

I was still trying to wrap my head around this. "That fucking thing is the wolf that's hidden in Mikhail. What type of sorcery is this shit?" I mumbled, unable to put the connection again. This was unheard of. "Wow, Jose. Stop playing a sick joke on me. It's not fucking funny and I don't want to imagine Mikhail as something as dangerous as that." I sighed in the moment, not meaning my words. I was a little hurt by the fact that if it were true, why wouldn't he tell me? Why would he want me to find out in the heat of the moment when I know myself that I wouldn't react the way most people would want me to? I can be insensitive and judging by the look of fury that Jose was sending my way, I was in the wrong. "Fine Nicca, don't believe me." He threw his hands up in the air, walking towards the door. "It's not my problem, accidenti!" He huffed, rolling his eyes once again. "But hear this. Since Mikhail is an Alpha wolf, that means he can hear everything up to a 15 mile radius." Jose gritted his teeth, digging his nails into the door. "And he just heard everything you said just now." He curled up his lip at me, shaking his head as he walked out of the door, pausing for a second. "Don't let your fear of the unknown be your downfall, Nicca. You'll never truly be happy." He finished before leaving and I was left there with pondering thoughts.

I knew he was right so who was I kidding? Who was I trying to prove myself to? I was wrong and I shouldn't have said those things about Mikhail because even if he was this wolf thing, I didn't care and I knew it. So as I stood, walking towards my door,  I had a goal in mind. I was still upset about the fact that he didn't tell me from the start. I know it's not my place to ask of such things but is it too much to know?

I marched down the hall, determination in my step as I had a fierce look on my face, prepared to rip Mikhail a new one. "MIKHAIL!" I yelled, slamming open the door to his room. "Yes sir?" He hit me with that polite tone as I spotted him putting folded clothes into a luggage case. "W-What are you doing?" My anger was still there but it was slowly subsiding. He had a large bandage on his left arm and I knew it hurt by the winces he made. From that second, I knew that that was the same arm he used to detangle the steel ropes that detonated. His hair was tousled as if he had been running his hands through it and his body was rigid as if he was made of stone. His fists were clenched and he looked mad.

"I'm going back home to Russia." He stated in a solemn tone but I knew he felt more than that. He was leaving? Why? Was it because of what I said? "Why?" I whispered, my anger fading away into sadness. "I'm not needed anymore, Mr. Alfarone." He closed up his luggage case before turning to me, a look of anger and pain of his face as his lips were set in a stern line. "My job here is done." His eyes were flickering through many colors and it hit me. While I had been kidnapped, he was the one person that endured everything to save me. "Thank you for helping me." I rubbed the back of my neck sheepishly, watching him clench his jaw. "It was my job and I completed it." He cut out in a dark tone, clenching his hands into fists as he stared at me with a cold expression. He was hurt by the things I said in a fit of rage and confusion. "Mikhail, I'm sorry." I mumbled, dropping my hands to the side. "I didn't mean what I said about you being a wolf." I whispered, hoping he would understand. "I don't care." His voice cracked as he said these words but I was truly sorry. He was a wolf and while I didn't understand how such a thing came to be, I had no right to judge him, seeing as I made worst decisions in choices of people myself. "Mikhail..." I croaked, not wanting him to leave at all. I didn't mean anything. "Leave!" He exploded, pointing towards the door as fur began to sprout like sideburns on his cheek.

I had recalled the words Mikhail's brother Nikolai whispered to me through his last dying breath. "My brother may be an Alpha, but he's not a cocky person. He's not the type to go after something he wants." I had no idea what he meant by that but it was intriguing to find out.

"You know what?!" I stomped my foot in a heated rage, ignoring his cold smirk as he snorted. Yes, it was my fault that we were in this predicament but I wanted him to forgive me. I didn't mean anything I said. At that moment, I probably was terrified of seeing something like that for the first time but knowing that it was Mikhail, was reassuring. "Screw you!" I threw out, folding my arms as he raised an eyebrow. Not understanding why I felt the need to act like a little kid in this situation. He told me to leave and yet, I was still standing here. "Ah, no can do." He retorted, a grin on his lips and he lifted his head up, his eyes staring down at me.

It was this moment ladies and gentlemen, that my body began to fill with the utmost burning desire, the most sinful urge to have Mikhail buried deep in me. My wrist began to pulsate, the tattoo turning a bright red. My body began to heat up, sweat dripping from my forehead as my cock throbbed within my shorts. I was in need of Mikhail and I wanted him with a fierce hunger. The room began a bright white, the only thing I could see was Mikhail and the only thing I could smell was spices, the scent of trees mixed with the slightest hint of cinnamon and sugar. I licked my lips hungry as he turned to face me, a predatory look on his face. His fangs elongated from his mouth, his eyes turning red as he chuckled darkly, running a hand through his hair and it was the sexiest thing I saw. He cracked his lips into a sinful smirked, his voice darker and deeper than I had ever had and so, that's when I knew at that very moment, the beast had been released.

"Found you, mate."
