Chapter Two
"Mind if I join you?" Misu asked Asuna. She had been walking around trying to find a nice place to eat her dinner, when she saw Asuna eating her bread alone.
Asuna nodded and allowed Misu to sit beside her. They ate a few bites of their bread in silence when they heard a voice, "Those are pretty tasty, aren't they?"
Misu looked towards the voice, startled. As she turned around she saw that it was Kirito standing behind her and Asuna. "Mind if I sit?" Kirito asked.
Asuna turned away as a yes while Misu nodded her head. Kirito sat down on the other side of Asuna, making Asuna in the middle. Asuna slid over some from Kirito, making her closer to Misu now.
"Why are you sitting this close to me? Do you want to get away from him that bad?" Misu asked jokingly.
Kirito looked at Misu in shock. "What?" Misu asked. "Never heard a joke before, or did you just assume I was the silent but deadly type under this hood?" Misu laughed from under her cloak hood.
Kirito just looked away. "They say that the silent are the ones who are planning everyone's death." Misu said. "But sometimes the silent are just the ones who don't know what to say."
Silence enveloped the three as they sat on the bench with their bread. "Do you really think it's good?" Asuna asked after a few moments.
"Of course." Kirito said after realizing she meant the bread. "Ever since I've come to this town, I've been eating one daily. I do change it up a little though."
"Change it up?" Asuna asked him.
Kirito pulled out a ceramic jar and placed down beside him. "Try putting some on the bread." He looked over at Misu. "You as well."
Asuna tapped the jar, a blue glow was at the tip of her finger. She brought the glow to her bread and spread it on. A creamy substance appeared on the bread.
"Cream?" Asuna asked. Misu took some and spread it on her bread, after Kirito took some the jar dissipated into pixels.
Misu brought the bread to her mouth an took a bite. "This. Is. Amazing." Asuna had already devoured her bread while Misu wanted to savor the taste of the cream. "Mmm! It tastes so good. Where did you get it?" Misu asked Kirito.
"It's a reward for a quest called "The Heifer Strikes Back," one village behind us." Kirito answered after finishing a bite of bread and cream.
"I saw that one, but I decided not to do it. I regret that now." Misu told him as she took the lest bite of her taster bread and cream.
"If you want to do it, I can tell you the trick." Kirito offered.
Misu and Asuna shook their heads, "I didn't come to this town to eat good food." Misu nodded her head gravely in agreement.
"Then why did you?" Kirito asked.
"So I can still be me." Asuna said. "I'd rather stay myself until the very last moment than lock myself inside an inn back in the first town, and slowly rot away. Even if I'm defeated by a monster and die, I don't want to lose to this game...to this world. No matter what."
"What about you?" Kirito looked over at Misu. Misu looked straight ahead, "I lost myself a month ago, the joke I just made was the first one in a month. I want to get beat this game for revenge." Misu didn't say anything else, she didn't need to. Everyone wanted revenge for the game that was taking their life away, but they didn't know the real reason Misu wanted revenge.
"I wouldn't want a party member dying on me...so at the very least, don't die tomorrow." Kirito told Misu and Asuna.
"Wasn't planning on it." Misu told him.
The three sat there in silence until Asuna got up to go back to her inn while Misu followed suit a moment after.
"Let's go over the plan again." Kirito, Misu, and Asuna were walking in a forest towards the boss tower behind the rest of the parties that were going to defeat the boss.
"As the left over team, our target is the Arion Konold Sentinels, the boss's entourage." Kirito reviewed the plan.
"I know." Asuna said.
Kirito went on, "I'll use the sword to knock their poleaxes up. The second I do, switch and jump In, Asuna."
"Switch?" Asuna asked from under her hood. Kirito and Misu looked over at her. "Don't tell me... Is this the first time you've ever been in a party?"
Asuna replied, "Yes."
Kirito stopped while Misu said, "Not meaning to be rude, but I've never been in a party before either, but I still know what switching is." Kirito looked at Misu weirdly. "What? There is this thing called the internet." Misu told Kirito from under her blue hood as they continued walking towards the test of the parties.
Once they got to the top of the tower to the boss door Diabel stood in front of everyone with his sword planted in the some in front of him, "Listen up, everyone. I have only one thing to say." He clenched his fist. "Let's win!"
With a determined look on his face, Diabel turned around and opened the door. The people were fully confident, they knew they would win the fight, they knew they would get out of the game they were stuck in. But what they didn't know was that two people had a certain secret that neither knew the other had, and no one suspected them either.
After Diabel opened the boos door, it was dark and quite, like a cloudy summer night with no moon out.
They looked through the long corridor towards a throne where a red beast with horns sat as it had an axe lying against throne beside him.
As Diabel stepped into the corridor, lights went on and the beast jumped at them onto the floor.
The red beast was tall with a diamond shape on his stomach, a tail, and little armor due to the size and mass of the boss. ILLfang held his giant axe in his right hand and a shield in his left with a clever on his back.
Above ILLfang's head was a name tag that read 'ILLfang the Kobold Lord' and a red icon above the nameplate.
Little demons in armor appeared holding a spike ball on a stick that didn't look lethal, but it definitely was. Long ears were pointing out of hole on either side of the helmets on the minions' heads. Above them read 'Kobold Minion' and they also had a red icon above them.
And with that, the players attacked the boss and his minions with their plan while the from one attacked with their programmed strategy.
