Part 9: the Sunset
"They're coming. Go!" Maud rested her ear on the door, listening as the sound of footsteps grew louder.
"Let me out! Now!" Ezra yelled at the top of his lungs, then made a series of sounds you would hear when listening to someone struggle against restraints.
"Help! He's going to rip his hands off! Please!" Maud yelped. "There's blood. Everywhere!" She gasped in complete horror.
The door swung open and the two lunged at three unsuspecting storm troopers who opened it. Once the path was clear, Maud reached down to grab a blaster off one of the bucket-heads.
"You should take one too," She said. Ezra shook his head, he didn't need one.
"Alright then, let's go," they took off down the hall.

"We're taking the Phantom," announced Sabine as she thew her and Zeb's bags into the small transport. Zeb folded his arms.
"We should take a jet. We're going to be gone for a few days and Kanan and Hera might need it when we are," he suggested. Sabine gave him a look that made him decide not to argue and he climbed in.
Only a few moments after they departed, they got a video call from Hera. Zeb and Sabine looked at each other then answered it.
Hey guys, It would be nice to know where you're planning on taking my ship at four o'clock in the morning. Also, get back here. Now. I can't believe you guys think it's okay to just take off without-
Zeb cut her off.
"Hera, let us explain," Sabine shook her head at him, but he continued. "We're going to find Ezra,"
"What do you mean find him? Where is he?" Zeb sighed.
"It's hard to explain, but he went back to Lothal. To finish the mission," Hera still didn't seem to understand, but Zeb had explained it the best he could. Also, he didn't even fully understand himself.
"We told him, the in-tell was false. What has gotten into him lately? I'm starting to get worried," Hera closed her eyes. She had obviously been stressed to her limit lately with the fleet and all the pointless operations she had been ordered to task her crew with.
"Hera, don't worry. Sabine thinks he went with that Cloud City girl. So whatever the kid's doing, he's not doing it alone," The twi'lek paled. Realizing the mistake he made with his word choice, Zeb continued.
"Trust us, we'll be back in a matter of days," Hera groaned and pinched the rim of her nose.
"Be careful. I mean it. And you," she pointed to Sabine. "Don't blow anything up. Anything," the two chuckled, but they knew not to take Hera's words lightly.

"Maud! The TIEs are this way!" Ezra yelled over the sound of the alarms. They had been making quite a ruckus during their escape attempt and the empire didn't seem too thrilled about it.
"We aren't taking one of those fuzz-copters. Our ship is in the landing dock. Let's go!" Maud didn't stop for Ezra's opinion and kept running. Ezra rolled his eyes and hurried after her.
Their path was soon blocked by a squad of troopers.
"Stop right there you rebel scum!" the leader commanded.
When Maud started to slow down Ezra yelled at her not to stop. She trusted him, though she had no idea what he had in mind.
When the storm troopers were right ahead, Ezra closed his eyes and remembered seeing his home burn down right in front of him. In one swift movement of his arms, he had every single one of them pinned against the ceiling.
"Stun them, Maud! Now!" he commanded.
Maud hesitated for a moment. Only a moment. But in that split second, she wondered; what would happen to her if she didn't do as he said?
He could kill her in a heartbeat. Then again, this was only her first reaction to seeing Ezra use the force for the first time and it is only natural for all of one's logical thoughts to be overcome by fear when seeing four grown men being lifted into the air by a fifteen year old's mind. When the second past she shot them all.
"I said stun them. You didn't have to go lethal," Ezra said between breaths as they continued to make their way towards the hanger bay. Maud was still speechless.
When they found their fighter, the two wasted no time strapping in and preparing for take-off.
There was a surprisingly low amount of storm troopers guarding the dock which meant that they expected them to steal a TIE instead of going after their own ship. Ezra was glad he had listened to Maud.
As the jet began to exit the Star-fighter, Ezra glanced nervously down at his partner. Maud didn't look angry, afraid, or confused. She just looked tired. He figured he owed her an explanation.
"I'm a jedi," that was the best one he could come up with.
She didn't react right away. Then she nodded and did something Ezra never thought she was capable of; she laid her head down on his shoulder and fell asleep.
It was her turn to give him an explanation, but Ezra figured it could wait until they got to Lothal. It could always wait another day.
I'm not ready for this show to end. I've done the math. There's no way that this fanfic is going to be done by the time the show is over. What is the fandom going to be like when there's no more getting together and crying over the long hiatus or how we think the next episode is going to go? Yeah, there will still be a fandom, but it'll be so different. And in a weird way, I feel like my life will be a little different, too. I've been watching this show since it's beginning 4 years ago. Since I was in 5th grade! I know we all feel this way to some extent.
Comment your formal goodbyes down below and remember, this is not goodbye.
The last half of the last season starts tomorrow. Brace yourselves.
ALSO THIS STORY JUST REACHED 1000 READS THANK YOU SO MUCH HAPPY SUNDAY
