Part 8: the Painter

Howdy! Welcome back to another episode of two angsty teens, one fighter jet!

"Maud, we have a problem," almost immediately after the small ship dropped out of hyperspace, a voice echoed around the young pilots' heads.

Attention shuttle SN-S3T (I don't know), this sector is off limits to anyone without authorization. Transmit your clearance codes.

"How did we forget that the entire planet is in lock-down?!"  Maud asked.  The two had reconnected with each other a bit over the long fly over to the planet, but after they left hyperspace to find a fleet of Star Destroyers blocking their path, it was straight back to arguing.

"Ezra, say something!"

"Like what?"

"Anything! Just say it now!"  The comander's voice returned, this time more aggressive.

Transmit your authorization now or you will be taken into custody.

Ezra cleared his voice audibly.

"Sorry about that sir, we just got back from a job in the outer rim. Com's still a bit fogged. Requesting clearance," he said in a lower, non-pubescent voice.

"No one is permitted to exit or enter this sector under orders of the Emperor,"  the voice responded.

"Maybe we should contact your friends?"  offered Maud.

"No! We said we wouldn't get them involved!" snapped Ezra.

"What was that, scum?" They  both immediately went into panic mode.

"Uh.. Nothing Sir. The com is acting up again. About the Emperor's orders-" but he never had time to finish. The ship lurched forward and began moving towards the main destroyer. Then Maud stepped in.

"A tractor beam really isn't necessary! We could just leave, or-"

"Be quiet!" Shouted the comander over the com system.

Maud grabbed Ezra's hand.

"Zeb, are you sure he didn't tell Kanan or Hera?" asked Sabine, for the second time.

"Yeah Sabine. I'm positive. If the kid didn't tell you, then he didn't tell anyone," replied Zeb. Sabine groaned then sat down on her bed with her elbows on her knees.

She stared up at the painting she had started just hours before. She had gotten the first rays of sun peeking over a meadow were she would eventually add a few small animals.

The artist had already modeled out were a few of the creatures would be. A small, brown-furred rabbit racing through the tall grass, not even attempting to hide. The rabbit was running from something, Sabine knew this. Though she didn't know what she was running from. Maybe a fox.

And watching them, perched on a large rock, a giant songbird. Its wings beautiful shades of orange and violet, but the rim of its beak curved into a wicked smile.

Sabine didn't know how the mirral happened. It didn't look anything like her other work. She started painting because she was upset, but unlike other times, she didn't plan it out before she started. It was like some strange wind had moved her arm for her as she worked.

Sabine sat up straight. Something in the meadow caught her eye. The line that separated the green of the grass from the red of the sun. The darkness in between. She stood up so quickly that she had to grab the bed frame for balance.

"Zeb, pack everything you need for a week vacation in an impoverished planet. And be quiet. They find out and it's over," then she was out the door.

"Hello officers," attempted Ezra, lamely. They were surrounded by storm troopers and an overly-pleased commander.

"Ezra Bridger, how nice it feels to finally meet you. I must say, I always imagined you would put up more of a fight,"

"What color underwear did you always imagine me wearing?" he replied, swiftly. Maud giggled, the commander turned to face her.

"I don't believe we've met. What is your name, young lady?" Maud seemed to think for a moment, then responded.

"I love what you've done with your hair! How do you get it to come out of your nostrils like that?" Then she and Ezra were both trying to suppress laughs. The commander, however, was not amused.

"Lock them up! And make sure this one," he pointed to Ezra. "Cannot escape."

Seconds after the door slid shut, Ezra's hands were free of the cuffs that binded him to the wall and he was pacing around the small prison cell that him and Maud were placed in.

"Ezra, its over. I'm sorry I pressured you into coming back. We need to find a way to contact the rebellion," Shi confessed, hopelessly.

"No, it's not over. Your forgetting, I'm part of the rebellion now. Which means I can get us out of this," he corrected. Maud raised an eyebrow.

"And in the meantime?" she questioned.

"In the meantime, we discus how we're going to stop Shire. And you are going to tell me exactly why he's looking for me,"

I know it's short, but AREN'T YOU PROUD OF ME?! Second update in two months! ....... Now that I say it, it doesn't sound that great.... BUT STILL. My Wattpad New Year's resolution is to finish this story, which means new chapters every month (you're welcome). Also, I'm not saying I ship it, but is Zebine a thing? And if so, why have I never heard about it? Be sure to comment!

please talk to me.
