18. Guilty Conscience

The full moon shone in the night sky while clouds hung near it, blocking most of its light which caused a spooky darkness to settle on the ground.

Inside his royal chamber sat King Edward with a gloomy expression on his face.

"Darling," The Queen called out, "Are you ok?"

The King shook his head and sighed as the Queen sat next to him and rested her head on his shoulder.

"Are you thinking about him again?" She whispered and asked as the King slowly nodded.

"Bella, I cant get him out of my head. Its like a nightmare which always terrorizes me no matter what I do."

Queen Bella took her husband's hand in hers as she gently patted it, "It was not your fault Edward. You just did what you were told to do and your father gave that order thinking about the safety of his people. It was no ones fault, destiny just took a drastic turn and there is nothing that can be done about it."

King Edward looked at his wife, his eyes watery due to the tears that fell from them, "I was young, I was stupid. Foolishness took over me and I did not even think twice before doing what I did. Now, after all those years, my people are suffering because of my deed."

"Edward, don't say that. I know how confused you must have been in choosing between your father or your friend and due to this you acted in haste but blaming and belittling yourself wont help. Why not instead go and have a talk with him? Explain him everything and maybe that will solve these problems and enmity."

King Edward scoffed as he rubbed his face and looked out of the window, "Go and talk to The Dark Lord himself? Go and talk to Damien? Do you think he would listen to me? I know him better than anyone else. Damien is an adamant and stubborn person, once he makes a decision he does not back away from it."

Slowly the King's voice started to quiver as tears once again formed in his eyes, "I should have given him a chance to explain. I shouldn't have just hurt him like that. And now, Bella, I can say that he wont stop till he gets revenge because sadly, it is the actions that a person see's, not the true intentions of the heart."

The next day...

Grunting, Aera placed a heavy book with the label Powerful Magic Spells (Use With Care) written on it on the wooden table.

"Whew, that was heavy." She exclaimed as she panted for breath.

Taehyung immediately shifted his gaze from the tools which were kept on the table to the book as he went to its index page and ran a hand through its contents.

"Spell for growing hair - Nope, not that one.

Spell for making you tall - Nah, I am tall enough thank you.

Spell to make you sneeze - Why would you want to do that!?

Levicorpus (levitates opponent upside down) - Ooh, interesting...but not the one we are looking for."

And like that Taehyung kept reading out the spells and commenting on them as Aera impatiently tapped her foot on the marble floor. "Couldn't they just make a spell that would make someone read fast?" She thought, a bit annoyed.

"Aha! Spell to find a person!" And with that Taehyung flipped the pages and stopped at the page number 69.

Aera's eyes went through the materials which would be needed:

1. Root of a rose plant

2. Gel of an aloe vera leaf

3. Spider web

4. One dandelion flower

5. A needle

6. An object which holds memories and is related to the person you want to find.

And given below this were the instructions of how to make the spell.

Rolling up her sleeves, Aera looked at the two pages which were filled with ink, "Alright then, lets get to work."

Placing all the materials side by side along with Jimin's locket, the Prince stood infront of the huge cauldron while Aera stood next to him, the spell book in her hands.

"Ok, so first we have to add five cups of water."

Hearing the first instruction, the Prince took a mug and filled it with water. Then walking towards the cauldron, he tipped the water inside.

This continued for four more times after which he finally kept the mug down and looked at Aera, "What next?"

Peering down on the huge book, Area read out, "Boil the water for five minutes and then put the root of a rose plant accompanied by the aloe vera gel and spider web."

And that is what followed next as the three ingredients were put in and mixed well till a brownish color made its way in the spell and the smell of wet mud rose in the air.

Taehyung gave a thumbs up to Aera as she then looked at the last few instructions left, "Put the needle and the dandelion flower inside the boiling cauldron which would then turn the spell to a pinkish-purple color. Then blow twice on the object of the person you want to find and put it in the spell. As soon as you finish doing so read the following words given below."

Here, Area stopped as she looked at the words given below, "Heck, these are confusing to read." She mumbled as the Prince nodded and took the book from her.

His eyes went through the words as he then placed the book down and put the needle along with the dandelion flower and the locket inside the boiling cauldron.

A pinkish-purple color, just as said in the book, formed in the spell as the Prince then closed his eyes and slowly mumbled the words under his breath.

Area looked at him and the cauldron in awe as a purple flame slowly rose in air and started dancing around the lab.

As the Prince continued to recite the words, the purple flame rounded up and came close to form a ball in the middle of which was a hole.

The hole slowly started forming an image.

At first it was vivid and blurry but slowly became clearer and clearer as Aera could make out that there was a river beside which someone sat.

His hands covered his face, while weeping noises could be heard.

He sat on a patch surrounded with flowers while the water touched his bare feet. Aera looked at this image with wide eyes and a thumping heart. It was a bit hard to figure out who exactly this person was as the picture kept glitching, the reason being that the Prince was slowly loosing his concentration.

Aera looked at the boy as her gaze then landed on his small pinky finger causing tears to swell up in her eyes. "Jimin..." Her voice quivered as she tried her best to hold her emotions and not let them spill.

Slowly, the image started fading away as the needle which was dropped in the cauldron earlier rose up in the air and positioned itself between the circle formed by the purple flame.

The dandelion flower followed the needle's steps as it floated in air.

The needle slowly turned around and after a few minutes stopped, its sharp end facing the north direction. The seeds of the dandelion flower now came loose and started forming a line which pointed out of the window.

Now, once again a picture started forming between the purple flame.

At first it was hazy but soon the colors came together and a house like shape was formed.

"Wizard Alf's hut?" Aera whispered in confusion as on further looking at the picture she noticed that the house was right near the woods which contained the flowing river...the same river near which Jimin was shown sitting.

Suddenly the purple flame vanished in thin air as the Prince opened his eyes, his breath heavy.

"Damn!" He heaved, "It was really hard focusing." Wiping away the small beads of sweat that had formed on his forehead he looked at Aera's direction noticing how her eyes were wide while her cheeks were flushed. "So...what did you see?"

Aera just rubbed her eyes and shook her head as she looked out of the window, the direction where the dandelion seeds and the needle was pointing at.

"You were right. Jimin, he is here and he's alive."

Wearing a hoody over her head after letting her hair loose, she stepped out of the castle, quiet as a mouse. It was a dead dark night, quite similar to the night before which held a similar dark and mysterious vibe to it.

The dry leaves crunched as she walked over them and headed towards the place which she could not stop thinking about

Yes, you are right. She was sneaking out of the castle, all alone, without informing anyone about it.

Maybe it wasn't the best thing to do and neither was it safe to be going around at midnight all alone but that was the least concern for her as she continued to walk ahead.

Slowly, she approached the house she was looking for and walked by it, towards the woods behind. The sound of gushing water echoed in the woods as a cricket's chirping caused her ears to stand up and be on alert.

Finally she reached the river she was looking for as she slowly bent down and touched its wet mud with her bare fingers, the hoody completely covering the front view of her face.

"This is it, this is the place." A whisper left her lips as she got up and looked around.

Her eyes soon settled on a bush a few meters away and to her surprise she noticed someone standing behind it.

The face was not clear but judging by the body structure she could roughly guess that it was a boy of her age.

"Hello? Anyone there?" She called out as the boy continued standing still, as if he was frozen on the spot.

He noticed the girl starting to walk towards him as his heart raced while he backed away. The girl who stood a few paces away from him looked familiar as he suddenly stopped moving.

One step at a time, he retraced his steps and walked ahead from the bush towards the girl, his face still shadowed by the darkness of night.

"Who are you?" He heard the girl call out once again as a memory triggered in his mind.

"Jimin, what if one day we were forced to separate paths and never meet again?"

"Why do you think that would happen buttercups?"

"I don't know, I just hope that never happens to us."

The six year old turned to his side and gave a warm smile "Even if it does happen, I would come back to you. Pinky promise!"

Aera looked at this boy who was slowly approaching her as her heart beat fastened. But suddenly, the boy stopped once again and then after a few seconds turned around and quickly ran away.

"Huh, why did he run away? Do I look scary?"

With a disappointed sigh, she turned around about to walk away when a sudden and quick movement behind her caused Aera to look at her side.

Her eyes wandered around but then with a shrug she walked away, not knowing that the thing that had just ran behind her was a wild beast who was about to attack her but was killed instead by the same boy she had seen hiding behind the bush.
