11. Wolves

It was 5:30 of the morning as the sun rose from the horizon and the birds sang their lovely songs.

Taehyung was out, standing in the gardens of the castle as he fed Falkor some food.

"Eat up boy!" He encouraged as he gave a pat at the dragon's head to which the dragon lovingly rubbed its head against his hand.

A chuckle escaped his lips, as Falkor gulped down the food.

Taehyung kept down the huge basket of food infront of the dragon and turned his attention to his surrounding area as his lips tugged up to form small hopeful smile. "I am going to save her. I don't know how, but I know that I am going to do so." He thought as he eyed the doves who were flying in the bright blue sky.

"Good morning Prince!" A gardener, who was watering the flowers greeted as Taehyung greeted back, "Good morning."

The two had a small exchange of words after which the gardener once again got back to work.

Taehyung looked at Falkor with a smile as he saw his dragon have its breakfast. But suddenly, something seemed to have been picked up by Falkor as it looked up with its big eyes.

"What's the matter Falkor?" Taehyung asked as he rubbed his dragons head, and soon enough, his question got its answer as a loud howl came from afar causing both of them to jump up with surprise.

Taehyung turned around as he tried to locate from where the howl may have come from. It did not take long for him to figure it out as another louder howl followed which seemed to come from the woods.

Why were the wolves, who were normaly known to be a calm and relaxed species in the lands of Azmaar, suddenly howling so loudly?

"There surely is something wrong or something that has agitated and provoked them." Muttered Taehyung with furrowed eyebrows as he turned to his dragon, who too seemed to be worried.

"Looks like we have a new adventure coming up, Falkor." Taehyung said as he patted the dragon's head to which Falkor moved its head, indicating that he understood the words said by the Prince.

Climbing up the dragon's back, Taehyung held the reins attached to it, as he made Falkor stand up. "Common boy, let's go!"

The dragon took a leap in the air as it flapped its huge blue wings. Soaring up in the sky, they headed towards the place from where the howls continued to be heard.

The clock had struck six of the morning when the sound of bolts of the door being unlocked echoed against the walls of the room Aera was kept in. A creaking sound was heard as the door was opened and in came a guard with a long rope in his hand.

Aera, who had woken up due to the sudden noise, sat straight on the bed with wide eyes. Seeing the guard enter the room, she immediately got up and walked away from him.

The guard walked towards her and harshly held her hands.

"What are you doing?" Aera asked with a shaky voice as her body started trembling due to fear.

The guard tightly tied her hands with the rope as he then looked at her with a blank expression, "The king wants to see you."

///

King Edward stood infront of Aera, with his sceptre, as usual held in hand. The huge window of the throne room was open, allowing a gentle breeze to enter.

Aera's hands were tied tightly while she was made to wear a green pendant on her neck, which was supposed to weaken the magic inside her as long as she wore it.

"I ask you once again Aera, who are you and where are you from?"

Her chest heaved up and then fell down, as Aera tried to control her nervousness and clear her mind so that she could think properly.

"I come from a small family your highness." She replied, very well knowing that this was a lie, but what else could she do? If she would tell her true identity and say that she came from the muggle world God knows what might happen next.

"You are lying." The king replied in a calm manner as he looked at Aera with a sharp gaze.

Aera's gaze once again made its way to the ground, as she bit her lower lip.

Silence fell as the king looked at Aera with confusion and curiosity. The happenings of yesterday night flashed by his mind as he remembered the golden glow that had shone from this girl.

It was something really unusual as he had never seen this kind of magic before. The kind of magic that would make its master give a golden aura. It was unique, just like that of his son.

Whenever his mind would wander to think about this, a vivid memory would be remembered. A memory in which he could see someone else give the same bright golden glow. But not once did he succeed in remembering who this person might have been.

Giving a small sigh, the king's expression softened as he noticed how nervous and scared Aera was.

"Tell me the truth," He softly said to which Aera looked at him with her dark brown eyes. "If you do then I will let you free. I promise."

Hearing the sudden softness in the king's voice, Aera's tense frame calmed down as she took a deep breath. "I come from a place far away from kingdom Azmaar, from a place where magic and its fantasies are believed by few."

The king furrowed his eyebrows as he heard the reply Aera gave. "Then why are you here?"

Aera fell silent as she tried to think of a reply. Her minded started clouding up again, preventing her form being able to think straight. "Taehyung, where are you?" The same thought kept echoing in her heart.

The clock ticked as minutes passed by, causing the king's patience to slowly start declining. "If you do not wish to tell me then I am sorry to say that I have no other option but to banish you from my lands." He said.

Pause...

Silence...

"I am letting you free as I do not wish to punish the innocent without any solid reason, but, as I have said it comes with a price." And with that the king raised his hand and called out two guards, instructing them to show Aera the way out.

Aera looked at the king with pleading eyes, but said nothing because she knew that now she wont be given a second chance to explain herself.

The two guards stood next to her as one of them held her arm and took her out of castle.

They headed towards the gardens, and passed by a huge shed as Aera turned around to see if Falkor might be in. A sigh escaped her lips as she saw the empty shed.

Before going, she wished to say a goodbye to Falkor. Since the past few days she had taken a liking to the magnificent beast.

They neared the huge entry gate of the castle as the guards standing near the entrance opened it.

"You may go now. You are free." One of the guards said as he let Aera loose and took a few steps behind.

Aera gave a nod as she once again looked back, a small part of herself hoping to see the Prince one last time. But there was no one...just her, the guards and the cold wind which whispered with the leaves of the trees.

Aera took a few steps ahead and stopped as she let her eyes wander about the outline of the village that lay infront of her.

And a few meters away from the village, at the corner, was where the woods were situated. The place where the Forbidden Door was situated.

Taking a deep breath and letting go of the heavy feeling in her heart, Aera walked ahead and out of the castle gate as she heard the noise of it being closed.

Silence reigned as Aera rubbed the side of her arms.

What now? Where would she go and to whom would she go to?

"The woods." The answer immediately came as Aera agreed to it and let her feet carry towards them.

Now, standing in the woods, infront of the Forbidden Door, Aera wiped away her tears with the back of her hand.

These few days were wild, from stumbling upon the magical world to seeing a dragon from her very own eyes. She made some friends too such as: Ginger, the fairy and Taehyung, the great Prince himself. She knew that even if the time she spent with them was very less, still, she would miss them terribly.

Keeping her hand on the old but firm wood of the Forbidden Door she whispered to it, "Its me again, Aera, and I have come back to you once again. Please open yourself so that I can return to the other realm."

A light wind blew as a creaking sound was heard.

The door in response to it's guardian's wish, flung open as Aera was once again met with the scenery of the woods which faced the muggle realm. She was about to step ahead and walk back to the world where she had come from when her ears picked up the noise of leaves being crunched and the heavy breathing of an animal come from behind.

It was as if the Forbidden Door too had sensed danger as it immediately shut itself close.

Aera's breath hitched, while her eyes widened as she slowly turned around.

Right infront of her, right infront of her very own eyes stood a huge wolf with dark red eyes. Her figure started trembling as the wolf twitched its nostrils and made low growling sounds.

Putting a hand over her mouth to stifle a scream, she slowly backed away from the wolf, taking care to not do anything sudden.

The wolf slightly tilted its head as it took dangerous steps, walking closer and closer to her.

As she was backing away, she tripped on a fallen log of wood. Her back hit the grass, an action which seemed to have increased the interest of the wolf in her.

The wolf snapped in sharp teeth as it suddenly growled loudly, ready to attack its next prey.

Aera struggled to get up but could not as her leg was stuck between some twigs and fallen branches.

Seeing the wolf getting ready to attack her, she closed her eyes, her heart beating fast due to the fear that invaded her.

She was ready for her end but then a loud crash was heard as the wolf groaned loudly.

Her eyes shot open and relief quickly replaced the fear in a blink of an eye. "Falkor!" She exclaimed as she saw the blue dragon attack the wolf with all its might.

The wolf attacked back but Falkor was quick enough to dodge the attack, resulting the huge wolf to crash against a tree.

A blue glow slowly started forming around the dragon, as it raised its wings and its eyes sparkled. The dragon seemed to have closed his eyes for a few seconds after which it suddenly opened them and moved its wings at an unimaginable speed.

A loud noise was heard when Falkor moved his wings as a burst of air hit the wolf, causing it to once again crash against a tree and fall down, dead.

Aera was just about to heave a sigh of relief when she felt a hand on her shoulder.

Immediately turning around, her eyes widened as she saw a stranger standing behind her. A shout for help was about to escape her lips when the stranger suddenly spoke, "Hey! Its ok, I am not here to harm you."

With that the person bent down and picked up the log of wood without any difficulty. Throwing it aside he looked back at Aera and helped her stand up.

"Well, its unusual to see such a pretty lady all alone in the woods." He mumbled as Aera raised an eyebrow, causing him to fall silent.

"Who are you?" She asked as the man looked at her with his dazzling eyes. Giving a smile, he held out his hand as a friendly gesture. "Hello stranger, I am Jungkook."

Aera looked at this man who stood near her with his hand brought ahead, waiting for her to shake it. "Jungkook." She thought as could not help but let her eyes capture the well built physique of this man which in contrast was totally opposite to his cute bunny like smile.

"Oh, thank you Jungkook..." She said as she shook his hand.

"Jungkook, did you find Falkor?"

Aera spun around as she heard the familiar voice of a person. "Taehyung," His name escaped her lips.

This new person who had saved her, Jungkook, immediately looked ahead as he heard his friends voice. "Hyung!" He called out, still wearing his bunny smile as he waved at the Prince.

Taehyung, who was still a few meters away, stopped at his tracks as he saw the person standing near his friend. "Aera?" He muttered with confusion as his eyes wandered around to see Falkor standing beside them. "Is she the reason why Falkor suddenly ran away?"

Approaching Aera and Jungkook, Taehyung stopped running as he wiped away the sweat on his forehead.

Aera looked at the Prince with amazement, not able to stop herself from admiring his beautiful features. "Even after running such a long distance how does the Prince afford to look so stunning?" Aera thought as she looked away.

"Aera, what are you doing here?" Taehyung asked as Jungkook stepped in to reply, "Well, I found this beautiful young lady trapped with a heavy log of wood fallen on her leg and it turns out that the reason why your dragon ran away was because he wanted to save her from a wolf."

A red colour flew into her cheeks as she heard the way Jungkook had described her. "Beautiful young lady?"

The prince furrowed his eyebrows as he heard his friends response. Looking at Aera who he noticed had quite a visible shade of red on her cheeks, he walked towards her. "Aera, why are you here? Is everything fine? Did dad say something to you?"

Looking up at Taehyung, Aera replied with a low voice. "Well, the king banished me from his kingdom and so I-" But before she could complete her sentence she heard another voice say out loud.

"You both know each other!? Taehyung, this is quite surprising for a person like you who tends to keep his distance from girls. Well I guess this is what we call progress!" Jungkook butted in as he threw a wink towards the Prince's direction.

"Oh ph-lease! Let's not talk about that right now." Taehyung responded with an eye roll as he shook his head. Then, bringing his attention back to Aera he said with a firm tone, "I am going to take you back to the castle with me. How could he just banish you like that? I need to settle some things with father."

Holding Aera's hand he headed towards Falkor as he called out to his friend, "Common, let's go Jungkook!"

With a small smirk lingering on his face as he saw how protectively his friend held Aera's hand, Jungkook walked towards them but then stopped at his tracks when he heard a low growl.

This was heard by the other three too, as Falkor suddenly jumped up from his relaxed position and growled back.

A pack of wolves, each having the same strange dark red eyes, started surrounding the four as they gnashed their teeth.

"My dear friend and his soon to be girlfriend, I think we might have to do a little more fighting." Jungkook shouted out as he cracked his knuckles and looked eye to eye with a wolf who stared back at him with equal ferocity.

"Soon to be girlfriend!?" Both, Aera and Taehyung shrieked as Jungkook just shrugged his shoulders and with a determined look on his face, sped towards the wolves.
