09. Throne Room

Seriously! I am in love with Alec's voice! His song 'If I Killed Someone For You' never fails to give me goosebumps and bring tears to my eyes. The lyrics and story of this song is just so sad yet beautiful! Anyways, let's get back to the story...

Being dragged along the endless corridors of the huge castle, Aera struggled as the two guards tightly held her arms.

"LEAVE ME!" She shouted once again as she harshly moved her elbows and for once, succeeded in getting out of their grip.

Seeing this chance, she was about to make a dash but the guards were quick to react and once again held her captive as one of them glared with anger. "Stupid girl, stop trying to escape! You enter the castle of the kingdom Azmaar without permission and expect to be treated like a guest?" He spat as Aera glared back at him.

"I did not enter the castle on my own! I am telling you, the prince brought me here as he found me injured in the woods." She protested.

"Telling stories now are we?" The second guard mumbled as they now started approaching a huge door which was made of dark brown wood and stood tall and firm.

"Where are you taking me?" Aera asked with confusion.

The guards did not reply as one of them then softly knocked on the door and after getting permission, opened it.

A gasp left Aera's mouth as she looked inside this huge, royal looking room.

There was a huge window on the left side, having a square shape at the bottom and then forming a triangle at the top as the sides of it's frame turned and met each other, forming a point.

There were chests of gold kept on a table nearby while numerous guards stood straight with a long spear in their hand.

A red carpet lay on the ground as Aera's eyes followed it and finally reached the end of it, a place where an elevated platform like structure was formed.

On it, were two thrones kept next to each other as Aera's eyes widened with surprise and awe. "The throne room." She whispered as her eyes then fell on the king and queen.

The king majestic while the queen having a certain grace and wisdom reflecting on her face.

"Your highnesses." The two guards bowed with respect as the king held his head high with dignity.

"Tell me guard, why this sudden interruption? And who is this girl you have brought along with you?" The king asked as his eyes fell on Aera.

Goosebumps formed on Aera's arms as she realized that the king now had his attention on her. His featured were sharp and defined, resembling that to Taehyung who had clearly gotten his looks from his dad.

Her eyes then went to the queen who too had her eyes on Aera. Aera looked at her with admiration as the queen's posture and way of sitting reflected her grace and elegance.

"Your highness, this girl was found wandering around in the gardens of the castle. We asked her who she was and she claims to be some friend of the prince." The guard replied with respect.

The king looked at Aera with an expression she found hard to decipher.

"What's your name young girl?" He asked as Aera could feel chills run down her spine. She was starting to feel really nervous and scared.

"Aera." She whispered as she finally looked down, unable to keep the eye contact.

The king got up from his throne as he held his sceptre in hand. "You do not seem to belong from kingdom Azmaar. You are an outsider. Isn't it?" The king said to which Aera immediately looked up with surprise. How did he figure that out?

Before she could say anything, the king brought his hand up, as a gesture to make her fall silent.

"And you do not seem to belong to royalty of any sort. Doesn't that make you an intruder?"

Aera's eyes widened as she heard the words said by the king. Her head shook in denial as she spoke out to defend herself, "Your highness, I am not an intruder," She said. "I had been injured by a dragon in the woods and Prince Taehyung had found me. So he brought me here so that I could recover."

The king gave a look to Aera which showed that he did not believe a word she said. "The prince is not allowed to bring unknown people inside the walls of the castle. Why do you think he would disobey this order of mine and bring you here? You clearly are lying and liars have no place in my kingdom." He said with a strong and ordering tone in his voice which caused fear and uncertainty to fill in her heart.

"But, I am saying truth!" She desperately said as the king gave no heed to her words.

"Guards!" He commanded. "Throw her out, far away from my sight."

Four guards started approaching her as they held her arms tightly and started taking her with them.

"No! Leave me!" Aera demanded now with annoyance building inside her. "Get away!" She said as she pushed one of the guards aside, the guard in response hitting her at her side which caused a stinging pain to rush through her.

Tears of anger formed in her eyes as she felt violated and hurt. Her body trembled because of this anger as she could feel a gush of energy starting to form inside her.

The guards slowly started backing away, their eyes widening with shock.

Aera's heart beat fast as she closed her eyes tightly and formed fists with her hands.

A golden aura started surrounding her as she could feel her hands starting to burn with a certain powerful energy.

With her hands still formed into fists, Aera opened her eyes as the queen gasped with shock.

"Edward..." The queen whispered as she got up from her throne and held the king's arm. "What is she doing?"

Her fists started glowing with a golden colour as Aera continued closing them tightly, a small voice inside her angered self telling that if she might open them then it may cause something bad to happen.

"Guards stop her!" The king commanded as the guards once again started approaching her. One guard neared her as he was about to attack when Aera turned around and finally opening her right fist, threw a golden spark of light at him which caused the guard to be temporarily blinded, leading him to fall down on the ground.

The other guards drew out their swords, the sound of clanking metal echoing against the walls of the throne room. "Capture her!" One of them said as they were about to attack her while on the other hand Aera, in panic, was about to throw a burst of energy at them when a loud voice shouted out.

"STOP!"

Silence took over the room as the guard's stopped at their tracks and the king looked ahead with surprise. "Taehyung?"

Hearing his name, the burst of energy that Aera was about to shoot to protect her, vanished away in thin air and her heart once again felt light while her mind cleared, enabling her to take over her emotions and actions.

Her heart calmed down but at the same time her energy had been drastically lowered causing her to fall on her knees with exhaustion. "What just happened?"

"Don't harm her!" Taehyung fumed with anger as he entered the throne room and walked towards the king, his father.

"Father, she is not an intruder," Taehyung said with a hard tone in his voice. "I brought her here because Falkor had injured her and I could not just leave her alone."

Those words echoed in Aera's mind as she looked up to see the Prince have his eyes set on her. His face showed worry and a bit of guilt too.

A small smile made its way on her face as she gave him a gesture of gratitude.

The king looked at his son and then at Aera with doubt.

Taehyung turned around as he then headed towards Aera and held out his hand for her. "Up you go." He whispered softly as Aera took his hand and with his help, stood up.

"Taehyung, get away from her." A demanding and furious voice said to which Taehyung looked away and towards the king.

"Father! Why are you being like this?" He said with disbelief as the king looked at Aera with anger.

"She is not normal. Did you not see what just happened? If not stopped, she would have killed the soldiers with whatever she was going to do." He replied as with his signal, one of guards separated the prince from Aera and brought him forward towards the king.

"She just wanted to protect herself as the guards were going to attack her, what else did you expect her to do?" Taehyung replied as he tried to persuade his father, but his words were given no heed.

"Take her and lock her up in one of the rooms, make sure she has no way to escape. She is not any normal person, she can do magic. So make sure to put a spell on the door too."

The king commanded as the guards took Aera by her arms. Giving one last desperate look to Taehyung who had a similar expression on his face, the guards took her away.
