"Yes, yes, mom! I know, I know but I have to go now. I already reached Oceania."

"Yeah okay. Love ya! Take care both of you!"

"Bye!"

I hung up my one-hour call with my parents and proceeded towards my job building. I smoothened my outfit and cleared my throat, shaking off the nervousness I was feeling.

I cannot believe it! I got accepted here! I work here, with many famous researchers and also a few of my own role models.

Professor Rain is one of them.

And also Antonio.

When he used to be our substitute teacher, I hate to say plus admit, I really looked forward to his classes.

He always had this twinkle in his eyes whenever he taught us about marine life and would always have a smile on his face. The twinkle is not the same as when he looks at me though, so I can say that he loves marine biology more than me.

Who's complaining?

Not me.

"Hello, I received an email informing me that I got accepted here. What am I supposed to do?" I asked the bored lady in front of the reception desk. She looked up from her book with a pen in her, which immediately fell when she saw me.

I blush slightly as she keeps on looking at me without saying anything.

I know I know I am very handsome. Nothing can beat my looks.

"Oh? Jin?" I heard someone call from behind me. I turn around to see Antonio with Professor Rain, who is giving Antonio a weird look. 

"Jin? Call him Mr. Kim, he's my student Ant." Professor Rain huffs before walking towards me, all the while Antonio looks at me intently.

I mean, I am only wearing a white v-neck shirt tucked into a pair of light blue jeans and finishing off with my pair of favourite white vans. A silver chain necklace, bracelet and earrings adorn my neck, wrist and ear; my dark brown hair parted on one side and a small touch of lip balm to my already pink full lips.

"Let me show you around Mr. Kim but properly this time." Professor Rain smiles at me before ushering me to the mechanics' room.

"Here we make machines which will be dropped into the oceans and used to track down animals or even observe marine life at very deep waters. We have a new recruit here," He says as he points at various machines, they have built before finally taking me to introduce the engineers here.

"Where's the new recruit, Alina?" I hear Professor Rain ask a tall blonde woman with striking blue eyes. 

"Oh maybe...I don't know, wait let me check-" She is about to walk away but Professor Rain grabs her arm and pulls her in front of me. 

"No, first meet our youngest and newest biology researcher, Mr. SeokJin Kim and Mr. Kim this is Alina Smith, the head of this department."

I give her a small hello and bow and she returns one back shyly. I hear shuffles from behind me before something touches my back slightly. I heard Antonio say "Alright, Alina, why don't you get the new recruit?" I see her eyes narrow to slits at us before she gives me the stink eye. I shook my head, not wanting her to believe that I got in because of him.

"Oh! There he is!" Alina suddenly says, breaking the tension and pointing behind us. I turned around only to come face to face with a very familiar face.

"Miguel?!" I shriek as I see him standing there, grinning slightly. 

"Oh, you know each other?" I hear Rain and Alina ask. 

"Yes, he's my friend and..." I slightly glance at Antonio to see that he was shocked by Miguel's presence too. But Miguel seems unfazed by his father and immediately runs towards me and pulls me into a hug.

"Surprise!" He chuckles in my ear, making me snap out of my shock. 

"But why-how-" 

"I can make machines remember?" I nod my head, waiting for him to explain further but before he can do so, it clicks in my mind.

He's eligible to make these types of machines too!

"You idiot!" I laugh and hug him again. I am very happy and relieved to work with my best friends.

"Well as you guys already know each other and I know him 'cause I actually accepted him in, let's move forward with our detailed tour!" I look at Professor Rain, shocked.

So that's why we got accepted.

For once, in my life, I do not regret being a teacher's pet.

After the short tour with Rain, Antonio, Miguel and Kengi (who joined later), we all part ways to our respective departments.

I walk to my department to help the biologists with the recent animal deaths happening when I see someone leaning beside the door. "Oh Mr. Handsome, I knew it was you," I hear the familiar green-headed girl say.

"Miss Green, nice to meet you again." I give her a small smile before making my way towards the door. 

"You do know Mr. Luis likes you, like a lot! I saw the way he was glaring off anyone who was looking at you for too long." I roll my eyes at her words and turn towards her.

"Miss Green, even though, it is not your business, I don't want others to misunderstand this situation. There is nothing going on between us two and for God's sake, he's my senior! Even the more reason to not date him. Moreover, I don't like him, he knows that. I'm straight, I'm into girls, not guys and definitely not pushy guys like him, so if you will please excuse me and mind your own business." I tell her off, as nicely as I can before opening the door and slamming it shut on her face.

I groan, massaging my face.

Why? Why me?!

                                5 pm~

"So do you like it?" My brother ask after we are done touring the apartment. I left early today and met my brother for lunch before heading to my new home. 

"It's nice and home-y."

The walls of the apartment are cream color and the furniture is dark wood, so it complemented nicely with everything. The kitchen is big, with a counter and stools. My room has both yellow and white lights, so it was really pretty. Black marble adorns my bathroom with a fairly big shower, sink and toilet. There is an extra room, for storage purposes mostly but you can still live in it. A living room with nice sofas and, of course, a TV.

The rent is also very comfortable.

Everything is set and ready to be in use.

"Glad you like it, I'll be heading out now. I'm leaving tomorrow so don't forget to bid me off," He says, glaring at me for a few moments, I flash him a sheepish smile, before leaving.

Yes, he has become better at speaking English. He has always been a fast learner and a better student than me but alas, his heart stayed in the military when he went there for the first time. So he continued being a military officer and I could not be more proud. Because of his position, he even is allowed his own possession of guns, which he hid in various places in the US (because his family is here) and other places. He even taught me how to shoot and all, even though I think I will never need it, but learned it for his sake.

After a quick shower and having my dinner, I settle on my bed and go through my emails. Even though it was my first day of work, I already have a lot of things that I have to take a look at.

At least I got to be home!

I sigh as I read an email from one of my colleagues saying something about travelling to another state to collect the dead animal there. I switch off my phone and lay back on my comfy bed. Before I know it, I am out in a minute with only one thought in my mind.
