I groaned as the morning light hit my face. I cursed at it while pulling the covers over my head.

"Jin ge-" 

"Ughh mother! Don't yell, I'm up!" I yelled back and immediately regretted it.

My head felt as if a thousand nails were being hammered into it really fast.

I walked into my bathroom and did my morning routine like a zombie.

I swear I am never drinking again...on a weekday.

With a towel wrapped around my waist, I walked out of the shower and went into my closet to look for something nice to wear.

I look handsome in anything I wear so. My eyes suddenly caught sight of a brown shirt at the back. I stared at it, feeling very weird vibes coming from it.

I am never wearing that!

I took out black ripped jeans and a loose white shirt. I fixed my necklace and clipped some nice earrings before applying lip balm to my already pink lips.

A soft knock sounded on my door before it opened and my mom poked her head in "Breakfast is ready," she whispered and left.

Ladies and gentlemen, that's my mother for you. An amazing woman.

I grabbed my coat not even bothering to grab it neatly and rushed downstairs and ate my breakfast. "Have this soup, you'll feel better..." Father pushed a bowl of green liquid toward me and I looked at it in disgust. "Now now now Jinnie don't you make that face. It's your punishment for getting drunk on a weekday, now eat up..." I groaned and brought the bowl to my lips and drank the contents in one go.

Huh, it did not taste that bad.

"I can see that you liked it Jin," Father smirked as he inflated his chest with pride. "I'm good at cooking, I'm good looking, I'm good at be-" 

"Dad! I don't need to know that!" I shouted at him with a horrified look on my face.

"Yeah yeah, so I'm such a perfect and flawless man where will you find such a man?" Father smirked as he grinned at Mother who was looking at him with a bored look.

"I'm the one who is perfect and flawless...you are old!" I said as I sipped my coffee.

Mother's eyes lit up as she cooed and agreed with me. Father stared at me and huffed "Guess you took after me..." 

"No, I did not. I would still look handsome and flawless at the age of 40." I gave Father a smug smile and he got off his chair ready to strangle me.

I laughed as I ran away from my seat and into the living room. Father and I rounded a sofa as I tried to avoid him and he tried to catch me and even, dare I say, kill me.

"Quit acting like kids." Mother sighed as she took the TV remote and sat on the sofa we were circling around. She turned it on and immediately tuned in to the news channel. Father got distracted and I took this opportunity to rush to the kitchen and collected my things before rushing to the front door.

I was just about to leave when suddenly something said by the news channel caught my attention.

"Today a mysterious skin and bones of a sea animal washed up on the beach. From the looks of the skin, it looks like a dolphin but we are still yet to discover. The research centre in Oceania has already been informed and they will be arriving soon..."

"They are here!" Someone screamed in the background and the reporter and cameraman rushed to the researchers who have already reached the scene. With gloved hands, they collected the skin and bones and tried to get past the reporters.

"What do you think it is?!"

"Does the fin mean it's a dolphin?!" Questions were thrown at them but they ignored them all and pushed passed the reporters and ran to the waiting van.

Then the news changed to a woman talking about the weather forecast.

"Wow, that's interesting..." Mother mumbled as she kept on changing.

I did get a glimpse of the bones but they were too big to be a dolphin's so I don't think...

If only I had a picture I could have told what it was and could have done my research on it.

                   One week later~

It's as if God heard my prayers, and our professor gave us, 10 students, photos of that dead sea animal.

"I have a close friend in Oceania so I got you guys a little gift. Hope you guys like it!" Our professor clapped his hands excitedly while chuckling slightly.

Everyone gave him a bored look while I looked at him with gratefulness and admiration.

I rushed out of my class as soon as it finished and was about to run out of the university gates, as I was finished for the day when I suddenly heard someone call my name.

"Jin!" I turned around and was met with Miguel's panting form. "Wha-why the hell are you running so f-fast?!" My eyes lit up soon as he said those words and I whipped out the carefully folded photo from my pocket and showed it to him.

"This...our professor gave it to us today!" Miguel frowned as he looked at the picture. 

"Is it not that dead animal that washed up at the beach one week ago?" I nodded my head excitedly. "Eh...then what's the use of getting excited? The researchers must have already found what it is-" 

"But still have yet to tell the media! If I research about it and tell my professor what it is before they disclose the animal's identity, then I might have a chance in Oceania!" I explained excitedly.

"Always the ambitious man..." Miguel commented with a smile. 

"That's really good!" I flinched as another voice shouted from Miguel's back, making me literally jump on Miguel.

Professor Rain walked towards us and patted my back "Such an ambitious man! I like this type of student! Good job, keep up the spirits! I'll see you next week then." Professor smiled at me before walking away.

"Also! I have a little surprise for you guys next week so be prepared with your report Mr. Kim!" I heard Professor Rain yell back and I nodded my head with wide eyes.

Both Miguel and I made eye contact before both of us burst out laughing.

                  The same day, 8 pm~

After dinner and a quick shower, I sat down on my desk, wearing pajamas, and took out the picture and my notebook. I scanned the photo and wrote down my notes.

After one hour I was finally done, I read my notes one last time.

Day 1

✴️ Skin and bones of a sea animal washed up to the shore of M. Street Beach.

✴️The skin looked a bit rotten, so it must have washed up the last night of that day.

✴️The skin had a fin on it (which was hard to identify from the picture, I saw it in the news)

〰️ So is it a shark or a dolphin? The question still stands...

✴️ The animal's bones were a bit too big for it to be a dolphin.

〰️ So it might be a shark, but which one?

"The Great White Shark most probably" I muttered as I closed my notes. It might seem less but I had to do a lot of research to be able to write them down.

I yawned and fell face-first on my bed, and draped the duvet over my head.

I fell asleep in an instant.
