Chapter 1
Run.
Run.
RUN.
That was all I thought while sprinting through the park's forest in the dead of night, tears of fear blinking in my eyes & the bone-chilling wind blowing in my ears. As I stumbled & panted toward the light of the city, my refuge, my gate to safety, but my dark chocolate eyes didn't see the root sticking out of the damp Earth. I tripped & fell to the ground, & felt a jolt of pain swiftly rise out from my ankle & I cried out in pain.
I crawled inch by inch closer to the glow of the busy streets. They were still about half a mile away, but I pushed through the throbbing pain in my ankle. Suddenly, I heard a THUMP behind me. I froze in my tracks, eyes widening, & a chill ran through my bones. And not because of the wind. I slowly turn around to see the pale-faced, grey & red eyed, 6 foot tall figure of my father. But instead of a human, he was a vampire. Ready to strike.
Fear jittered across my skeleton as I pulled a wooden cross out of my backpack. I had specially crafted it myself with the top bit pointed like a sword. I had been told that if you stab a vampire with a pointed cross, it won't kill them; it will free them from the pointy-teeth bonds. I wanted to free my father, who never made a single big mistake in his life that I haven't and/or won't forgive. I want to forgive him.
With a pointed, bloody smile, Suyodhana lurched forward, & before I knew it, I pierced him with the cross stake. He howled in pain, but not before being able to graze my neck with his nail-like teeth. It stung like getting a tattoo, but 10 times worse. I cried out, & saw my father fall to the ground, eyes blank. My face paled, & I had realized what I had done. I had killed my father. I had been tricked.
No, no, NO!" I thought as I sobbed into the lifeless form of Suyodhana, my dear father. "Your time is over, dad! I'm so sorry!" I said in between sobs & gasps of pain. Suddenly, a hot wind trailed behind me, & I felt it on the hair on the back of my neck. I jerked around, ready to fight, but I saw a floating figure with lavender skin, eyes as red as blood, & long white hair framing her pointy mouth. Her mouth didn't move, but I heard her speaking. She had a voice that sounded like a rock slide (don't ask). "You have committed the crime of killing your catcher; you must be cursed."
My heart dropped. What did she mean by my "catcher"? "C-cursed"?!" I stuttered, frightened. "1 vampire for another." At this point, I was so confused that I forgot that I could run away & be fine, but just then, my world blacked out.
I woke up in a dark, medieval-style room. There weren't any light sources, but I could see clear as day. I look at my surroundings, & I see a portrait of a family, all with pale skin & red eyes. Besides that, the only other things I see are a pass-me-down framed mirror that is covered in dust, obviously not used for a long time, & a big, wide open, wooden box. My heart skipped a few beats. No, it's a COFFIN. Panickingly, I swiped off a streak of dust from the mirror on the wall. I stare down at myself & see the white skin, feel my pointy teeth. I was a vampire.
(A/N: Ideas? Also, here's a clue to guess who I am! Clue: Somewhere Over the Rainbow.)
