Chapter 11: A Temporary Close.

"We are damned flesh, which feeds upon the blood of mortal men. Sometimes that blood is of the innocent. We are cursed and reviled, with hell itself turning its nose at us in disgust. But we are still born of mothers and fathers. We once enjoyed the fruits of mortal life and worked day to day towards all which might outlive us.

That desire, that divine purpose, burns within us as brightly in undeath as it did in life. I challenge you all, my sisters and brothers, to take hold of our gift and curse. Use your power to build this world anew. Join my crusade, and shape this world into the paradise we could not find in life."

Address to the London Primogen council, by Prince Miranda Graham.

Though the night was still young, the battle was done. The hunters had fought to the last man and had died hard. The casualties on the Camarilla's side were nonexistent. The Revenant soldiers had taken some heavy hits, but their armor and superhuman healing had kept them alive.

Jessie couldn't help but let out a relieved sigh. Amaya and her court had been among the worst and most corrupt monsters in the Camarilla, and now they were gone. Phoenix would rebuild, with the guidance and Isaac Sharpe, and a new council with members from the Gangrel and Tremere clans.

Still though, so much had to be sacrificed to make this happen. Now that Jessie had the time to consider anything beyond her immediate survival, she could not help be feel sorrow at everything leading to this moment.

Survival had been her only goal, and now...she'd made it. Life and possibilities in eternity were laid out before her. All it had taken was a long road of betrayals and murder.

Isaac walked to her, his clothes were destroyed, and he looked more than a little charred. Yet he still cut a very regal figure. He even managed a slight smile as he approached Jessie.

"Does winning always feel like this?" She looked over the city, and then back at the corpses being piled and burned. "Exhausting and-"

"Unclean?" Isaac spoke with the voice of harsh experience, and the fatigue of his true age. "Yes. There will be many nights and days like this. When you fight hard, and cannot help but notice the ruins you've left behind."

"So, what do you do?" Jessie was not hysterical as she had been before, but she desperately needed an answer. "What comes after all this."

"You pick up the pieces, and build something new." Saying that statement alone brought a bit more energy into Isaac's entire being. "It's as simple as it sounds and far more difficult than anyone can ever imagine. But it is the only way to move forward."

They were only a few words. But from this hopeful man, and after so much fighting without reason, they were exactly what Jessie needed most.

"So, what are building first?" She managed a smile, and laid her hands on her hips, ready to take on her next task.

Isaac ushered her towards a waiting vehicle, speaking of future plans for Phoenix and beyond. Once inside the SUV, they drove off. They left the rubble of so much hurt and hatred behind. And went as quickly as they could towards an unknown, but most certainly adventurous future.
