In the Beginning, it's all Blood Red
She's found on the cold marble ground in the main entrance, the color of her blood blends in seamlessly with her hair. Her normally pale skin looks sheer white and her brown eyes look off into the distance, dead and gone, they'll never close again. Her mouth is partially open, her lips are tinged blue and the stark purple-black bruises all over her half-naked body scream loudly out to anyone who dares lay their eyes on her.
There's an odd peacefulness surrounding Roselyn Vernadette's corpse, even with half the school's population shuffled into a tight-knit circle around her. It's peaceful until Roselyn's girlfriend of three years screams and kicks and pushes her way to her dead lover's body and collapses on her knees, hitting the ground with a dull thud.
A security guard tries holding her back but she throws a punch so hard that the man goes reeling to the side. Charlotte throws herself on Roselyn, begging and pleading and yelling out why are you all just standing there! Get help, help her, oh god, she's so cold. Rose please, please. Breathe, my love, please, please breathe.
All the screaming in the world could not bring back the dead and Charlotte's words simply float out into the world. The heavy silence of everyone present merely adds more weight to the devasted girl's pleas.
By the time the police arrive, they have to violently rip Charlotte from Miss Vernadette's body, her hands and knees are soaked in blood that catches the light of the dawn brilliantly as she's dragged outside. She's still screaming and clawing at them when they try as gently as possible to get her to their vehicle and down to the station for questioning.
It's so quiet that you can still hear the echo of Charlotte's screams even after the car disappeared. She can't be dead, she can't be. Don't leave her here alone, she needs me. She's not dead!
Roselyn's freezing cadaver would prove that statement to the contrary.
