Chapter 2- The Angel
While the demons were created, the angels had it easier. They lived in a well structured and organized society, it was perfect. So utterly perfect, Everyone was incredibly happy.
Except one.
She sat in her bed, staring at the ceiling. She wasn't happy, unlike the others. She had done everything Heaven had to offer, and she did them flawlessly, because everything's perfect in Heaven.
This angel, was bored. She'd do anything for a change, she's even tried starting arguments, and trying to fail at everything but nothing went her way, people laughed off the arguments, and she never got the satisfaction from trying to fail. She didn't like it at all, she wanted something exciting to happen. She asked other angels if they were bored, and they exclaimed, "There's so many things to do! I'd never get bored!"
She's alone in this feeling.
Her name was Carlese.
She wanted to do something exciting, something that'd make her happy. So one day, she went up to the angel council to ask if she could be the gate keeper to hell.
The head council looked around and back at her, "You wish to be the gate keeper to hell? Nobody's requested that job in decades.... are you sure?" Carlese nods, "I'm sure!"
The council nods to each other, throwing her a spear. "You'll be led to the gates of hell, remember, nobody shall pass through those gates. Not a demon, nor an angel. Including yourself." Carlese smiled, for the first time in a while she was excited, expecting struggle and fighting! She arrived, and the escorts left her, and she stood and waited for a demon to approach the gates so she can fight them.
She waited.
And waited.
... and waited.
Days went by, nothing. Not a single soulless beast has even been seen. She sat at the gate, in disappointment. laying her spear down and sighing. She sat there a while, disappointed with her decisions. She was bored once more.
And then, suddenly, she heard foot steps, from the other side!
She turned around, seeing a demon there, with long hair, wings, horns, and a tail with tons of holes. They made eye contact, as Carlese reached for her spear.
"Wait!" The demon yells, catching Carlese off guard. Demons were supposed to be blood thirsty, they wouldn't dare even do that. The demon approached, cautiously. "Hey," the demon greeted, "I'm Umbree, how about you?"
Carlese stayed silent, before responding, "Carlese."
Umbree sat at the gate, leaning against it on her side, Carlese on her own. The two began to talk, Carlese was incredibly bored anyways. With the talking, Carlese began to enjoy it. It felt like a breath of fresh air.
"How's heaven? Is it better than here?" Umbree eventually asks, Carlese shrugs, "It's boring, and dull. Everyone else is having so much fun, and I did too until I saw past those rose tinted glasses, and saw that everything is perfect. I'm just incredibly bored."
Umbree nods. "I hate it here in hell. I'm always on edge, it's not structured at all, it's just collapsed and broken. I always feel like I'm in danger, but there's times I enjoy myself a bit, I mean, alone that is."
Carlese nods to herself, "I'd rather live in a world like that. Happiness is amazing, but it's turned to nothing."
Umbree looks back at Carlese, and turns back around, "Why don't you just die? You can kill yourself if you're no longer satisfied. You know how the system works, there's life, the afterlife, then death. If you don't want to live in boredom, then don't."
"You're right. But I don't want to die yet, I don't want to die bored. I want to die feeling something." Carlese replies, sighing in frustration, "I just want something bad to happen to spice things up...."
It was silent for a moment, the two in their own thoughts.
"Why don't you do something bad? If you wait for it nothing's going to happen." Umbree suggests, Carlese turns to look at her confused. "I mean think about it, the only reason hell wreaks with chaos is because we're told that we deserve suffering, and in heaven, you're told that you deserve happiness. Of course, there's other factors, but in reality, what's honestly stopping stuff from going out of hand in heaven? The people. It's just like a school, you're able to wreak havoc if you wanted to, but you choose not to."
Carlese was stunned, "I never thought of it that way..." she says, turning back around and facing the floor, thinking it over, a smile began to crack on her face as her head ran through ideas. "That's for the advice Umbree!" Carlese cheered out, getting up and heading to go up back to heaven.
"Will I ever see you again?" Umbree asks, getting up, attempting to cross over, burning herself before she could. Carlese shrugged, "Who knows, but with the stuff going through my head I'd be surprised if I'd make it out, goodbye Umbree!" She swooned back and forth, a look of craze in her eyes. Umbree didn't care, she's seen that look before but it set her off, seeing it coming from an angel was... a bit scary.
Umbree headed back into hell, the place was full of demon claw marks but the gates of heaven hidden here, impossible to cross. Most demons don't care anymore she supposes.
But back with Carlese, she walked up, to be greeted by two angels waiting for her. "Got bored?" They asked, laughing to themselves. Carlese nods, the two guards let her up, "See why nobody guards down there anymore? Go home kid, Heaven's a perfect place for everyone, there's no way we'd let any demon into this place!" They both said proudly.
"Yeah... right." Carlese mumbles to herself, walking down to her little house. She lives next to tons of lovely neighbors, they all bore her. She feels nothing to them, so they're her perfect targets.
She gets home, and sits down at her counter, stocking up on weapons.
You see, killing an angel is difficult if they know they're in danger. You have to break their halo, then kill them like you'd kill someone normally. Most angels are weak, none learn how to fight. Carlese and a few others being the exception. Carlese could use this low guard to her advantage, the more she kills the stronger she gets. As she stocked up on weapons, she heard a knock on the door, so she went to answer it after hiding her weapons, keeping a knife on her just in case.
She opens the door, and her next door neighbor was there with a pie.
"Hey Carlese! I baked you something!"
