Chapter 53: Luck

"Dad?"

"Yes, baby girl?"

"You ready?!"

He jogged out from the shadows, pulling a shirt he took off of a dead witch over some jeans he found and nodded. Arms were covered in blood like the rest of him. "Yes, let's light it up!"

Dad scooped me up and jumped off the landing ledge right as Nate honked at us. "Let's go!"

"One minute!" Dagny called out as she waved to him. Quickly, she rubbed her fingers together, creating a ball of fire in her hand that she tossed into the warehouse; the ball split into three separate balls then flew into various directions until the smell of smoke filled the air.

My father nodded to Dagny. "Let's go."

Cora slid into the front of the SUV while Nate eyed the building with wide eyes reflecting the light of the fire that was starting to lap at the inside of the building. "Do I even want to know?"

"Nope," Vincent said as he wiped some blood off of his face while he climbed in the ver back with Alice and Dagny.

Dagny reached into her bag as my father slid in next to me with Lizzie behind him. "But look what I brought! Party favors!" she practically squealed as she held up two bottles of champagne.

Vincent laughed before he kissed Alice's cheek. "Look there Alice. You and your mum did well with the bubbly."

"Glasses?" Lizzie asked.

"Course, thank God this purse is big. Vincent hates it but–"

"I do not hate it, it's just inconvenient," he cut in.

"Except for now," Dagny sang out as she passed out some champagne glasses. "Nate dear?"

"Not while I am driving, but thank you!" he said as he looked into the rearview mirror where our reflections made it look like we were either in some kind of crazy play, chainsaw murderers, or that we just took a dive in a pool of ketchup.

Lizzie passed my father and I glasses as Vincent popped open one of the bottles. Cora took a glass from Lizzie while my wolf smiled in the back of my mind, we had done a good thing worth celebrating. We had given those people their lives back. We had taken them out of Aurelia's control. We crossed a big item off of our list and took out a lot of her witches and wolves in the process.

Lizzie poured my father and I some champagne while Vincent kept placing bloody kisses all over Dagny, who just laughed while Alice hopped around between their laps; Cora was changing the radio station in the car, linking Jake who she said was more than jealous that he didn't come.

"Did you have fun, baby girl?"

"Yes," I chuckled out before I took a long sip of champagne. "You?"

"Almost as much fun as I anticipate seeing Alex tomorrow will be."

"Oh, very true dad," I mused, debating inwardly which would be better. "That's a toss up. Is mom ok?"

"Oh, your mother is just fine. They're already back. She said she's ordering pizza for us."

"Pizza?" Cora snapped her head back to look at us.

My father chuckled and nodded his head. "Yes, plenty of it."

We got back to Riley's where my mother looked more or less like the female version of Dexter. Dominic was wiping his face off with a towel while Riley poured him a bourbon on ice. He was sitting next to Bernard and Susie, laughing with them as we walked in. Actually laughing with them. It was crazy to think that a while ago Dominic actually killed Susie because she wouldn't bring Lizzie back, especially when Lizzie and Susie were practically tied at the hip.

Life is weird.

"Well, took you long enough," Dominic cracked out as we walked in.

"We were having a good time!" Dagny exclaimed as Vincent opened another bottle on the way in.

"Dagny love, is there another?"

"Course, there's two more," she replied.

"We should take this all back to the mountains," Cora said. "It's safer."

"She's right," my father said as he crossed the room to my mother and kissed her. "Riley thank you."

"No thanks needed Alpha King," Riley said with a nod. "I assume we'll be in touch?"

"Yes, we still have a lot of work to do," my father replied while my mother tried to wipe some blood off of his cheek.

Eve walked over to me, her skin almost as red as her hair with a soft smile. She pulled me into a hug, nuzzling my cheek against hers before she let out a sigh. "Not much longer Charlie girl."

I leaned against her and nodded. "I know," I sighed out as my heart twisted for him. "Let's go home."

"Grab the pizzas!" Dominic called out.

Eve grabbed some dust out of a pouch that she put in her knapsack. "Let's go then," she said while I grabbed a box then grabbed her.

We got home easily, only dropping one pizza which Dominic more or less blamed on Jake. Susie has everyone chewing the moon plant leaves as we ate and drank and celebrated the day; we celebrated but every inch of me still longed for him. I still longed for him. It was hard to truly be happy when half of my soul was away from me. I knew the bond was alive. That it was mending, but I knew I wouldn't be whole until I was with him.

We went over the plan then spent some more time together before I decided to turn in early. It was everything I had to not link him in the shower. At one point I found myself subconsciously doing it.

My mother came into my room and checked on me that night; I knew she knew. She always knew. She ended up crawling into bed with me and letting me quietly sob on her shoulder until I fell asleep.

The next day, my father was waking me up with a gentle shake. The smell of coffee in the air and bacon too. "If you get up now, then you won't miss the bacon."

"You would just make me more," I groaned out.

"No, I would make me more," he teased.

I pulled the covers down and smiled at him with sleepy eyes. "Ok fine."

Before I knew it, dad scooped me out of bed and tossed me over his shoulder. My mother just laughed as she watched him walk in with me throwing a fit that was more or less useless. "Mom!"

"Sorry sweet girl, there's only so much I can do when it comes to him."

I growled lowly until my father set me down. "Coffee?"

"Yes," I breathed out. "When are we leaving for the vampires?"

"As soon as we have breakfast and as soon as your father decides to wake Dominic up," my mother said before she gave my father a sly side eye.

He groaned then looked over at my mother. "Really?"

"Really dear," she answered while she poured me a cup of coffee.

I laughed under my breath while my mother put some eggs and bacon on a plate for me. My dad complained a little more until he decided to go wake up Dominic and Lizzie–I almost felt bad for him. Micah stopped by to check on us while dad was out, it was odd to hear him refer to my mother as 'Luna.'

Dad came back, cursing under his breath. Apparently, Dominic had opened the door stark naked just to piss my father off. Mom and I thought it was hysterical, but dad definitely did not agree.

We got dressed after a quick breakfast and walked over to Dominic and Lizzie's cabin. We would be going with them to the coven house in Vancouver today. I tossed on some comfortable tights and an oversized beige sweater-turtle neck that Cora had lent me, then slipped on some brown booties when I walked back into the living room. A turtle neck because the more I looked or felt at my mark, the harder it was to continue doing this without him.

"Ready?" Dominic asked as he zipped over to me.

"Nice to see you with clothes on," my father said as he walked into the living room over to my mother, who just rolled her eyes at him.

Dominic waved him off as he hugged me. "Hadrian don't be shy. It's nothing you haven't seen before."

My father growled lowly at him while Lizzie zipped over to Dominic and I. "Ready?"

"Let's do it," I said as my mother nodded in agreement.

Lizzie and I hugged Dominic as she threw down some powder, and we were pulled. We were pulled through what felt like clouds, something cold grazing my cheeks like fingers It was like a mist, a mist that seemed to wake me up and make my skin shiver in delight.

Dominic and I landed, stabling Lizzie who did a little better this time than usual. Dominic did surprisingly well, but I think that was more because I was holding him upright. My parents landed next to us; turning, we all eyed the coven house that was more or less like an old school victorian home. The proud columns standing before the house that was at the end of a long drive, large trees forming an arch, guarded by iron gates were almost formidable. It was more than a beautiful home–it was a fortress.

"So we walk in?" I asked.

Dominic nodded. "They're having a monthly meeting," he replied as he walked to the keypad and punched in a few numbers, causing the iron-rod gates to open. "Derek is going to kill me for being late again."

"This is brilliant thinking Dom," Lizzie breathed out as he walked back to take her hand.

"Well, it will be when Hadrian here just strolls on in. That will be brilliant."

My father rolled his eyes as I walked over to him and my mother. I linked my arm in my mom's while my father put an arm around my mother's waist, our wolves shaking their fur out as we walked forward.

We walked down he drive, the trees creating a canopy of different fall colors over us while the leaves fell gently in the wind–totally oblivious to any horrible evil in this world. All they had to worry about was turning a color then falling through the air, gracefully, and covering the ground to make a blanket of color.

As we approached the coven house, two men eyed us then zipped towards us. Dominic was already ahead of them, though, his eye dilated while they headed to us. "Shut your damn mouths and say nothing," he said before they even finished running towards us.

The men stopped and eyed Dominic then turned back to walk to their posts. Lizzie laughed and kissed Dominic's cheek as he waved us forward. "Well, let's get to it then."

"Dom, whose coven house is this again?" I asked as we continued forward.

"This was one of Leo's," he replied. "But now it is Derek's, much like everything else that Leo owned. When he willed Derek to take over, Derek also inherited everything that was his."

I nodded as we walked closer. My heart racing a little more at the thought of seeing them again, of seeing Alex who I prayed tried not to kill us. It was more than ballsy to just walk in here, but it would catch him by surprise, which is exactly what we needed.

We jogged up the stairs, my beast starting to pace as Dominic zipped forward to open the door. "After you."

The house was beautiful inside and in a way it reminded me so much of Derek. There was a grand staircase that curved around and spilled out onto the wooden floor we stood on, a chandelier hanging overhead, as light pooled in through the windows. I found myself turning in a circle to look at all of it when a glass shattered.

My head snapped around to see a familiar red head. Elliot.

He was staring wide-eyed at us; looking between Lizzie, myself, and my parents he slowly walked forward from down a hall with an arching ceiling. His footsteps echoed around the foyer, the glass still laying on the ground in a mess behind him.

"What?"

"Hello Elliot, miss me?" Lizzie asked as Dominic kissed her temple again.

Elliot shook his head as he looked at her then at me. "Charlotte?"

"Hi," I breathed out with a soft smile.

"Oh my God." He zipped to me and crushed me into a hug while he panted hard as tears leaked out of his eyes. "Oh my God. This is–this is real?"

"Yes, I'm here and you're crushing me," I replied, my mouth squished as Elliot clutched me to him.

"Oh God, sorry," he rushed out as he wiped his eyes. "Lizzie?"

"Hello dear," she said with a warm smile. She zipped over and kissed his cheek, causing him to slightly jump.

"And you're?"

"Hadrian and Willa, it's nice to meet you."

"Oh God I need a drink," Elliot rushed out. "Dominic what have you done?"

"Why is this my fault?" Dominic eyed him while Elliot wiped his eyes.

"Well, why the hell are you here? What is this?"

"Well, it's a long story, but we heard you're having a little meeting and well, we thought we would pop by?" my mother said with a warm smile.

"We're obviously going to kill her and her father," I added. "Slowly."

Elliot was laughing as he wiped his eyes. "Well bloody hell then, come with me. Dominic, you're late!"

"I know!" Dominic called back as Elliot gestured us to follow him.

We walked down a hall on our left, through a grand library, and down another hall. Elliot was holding me to him the whole time, eying me I think to make sure that I was real–that I wouldn't vanish. We eventually approached a set of doors, grand and with wood carved flowers and vines all over them.

"Are you sure?" Elliot asked.

"Yes," Dominic replied dully.

"Alex–"

"Will behave," Dominic cut in. "I'll make him," he added, his voice hard as he opened one of the doors, where the voice that was speaking slowly died down as my father filed in with my mother in hand, followed by Dominic and Lizzie, then finally Elliot and I.

The room was much like our meeting room. There were seats like a stadium that cascaded down as stained glass windows let light into the large room; long wooden tables that looked hand made laid before each row of seats.

"Sorry, I'm late!" Dominic called out. "Just picked up some friends. Do continue on without me," he said as the room looked at us in a cold shock. Dominic rolled his eyes. "Or don't. Sit there like idiots, really it's fine."

"Dominic?" An older man with salt and pepper hair asked.

Something zipped up to us, stopping in front of Elliot who smiled as tears ran down his face. Derek was looking at me with his mouth wide open and pants that sounded painful coming out of his chest.

He looked at Elliot, who nodded at him, then back to me. "Charlotte?"

"Hi," I replied as tears beat at my eyes.

"Really?" he asked as his eyes started to water.

I nodded. "Yes really, come here."

Derek zipped to me and crushed me into a hug while the room broke out in gasps, muffled screams, wails, and murmurs. "Lizzie?!"

"Hello, Helen!" Lizzie replied cheerfully with a wave.

Helen almost passed out as Derek placed a long kiss on my cheek before he looked me over like I was about to break out in some kind of illness. "How? How is this–"

"Real?" I finished for him. "Well, long story short. We found a portal and walked across."

"Charlotte! Oh my God! Oh-my-God!" Someone was hugging me tight to them, sobbing almost hysterically until I realized that it was Evie.

Barrett walked slowly towards us. Shaking his head as smiled at me and Lizzie. "What a damn day," he chuckled out as he zipped over to hug me while Evie was still crushing me to her.

"I thought you were–you were," she said as she gasped for air. "Oh my God!"

"Love, you're going to crush her."

"Shut it Queen B!"

"Hi, I'm alright," I breathed out. "I'm ok."

"Hadrian? Hadrian King?" the salt and pepper male asked.

"Yes Alister, this here is my best friend Hadrian that Alex wanted dead," Dominic drawled out causing the room to go quiet.

"God Dom, you're such a buzz kill," Lizzie said as she hugged Evie next.

Derek walked over to me, standing next to me while Elliot walked to stand next to him. My father waved and stepped forward, unbuttoning a button on a blazer Micah had lent him so he could rest his hand in a pocket. He walked a bit, smiling as he stopped where Alex and Helen were staring with wide eyes. "Well hello, Alex, it's a pleasure to meet you face to face."

"Alex, choose your next words carefully. I will kill you myself if you try anything," Dominic added as he strolled over to stand next to Hadrian. "And I will enjoy it."

"This is real?" Alex breathed out.

"Course this is real you ancient idiot!" Dominic bit out.

"Dom," Lizzie gently scolded.

"What?"

She rolled her eyes and zipped over to stand with Dominic. "Alex, I think what Dom meant to say is that we need to work together to rid ourselves of a common enemy and if you so much as lift a finger, then we will both be ripping you to pieces later. It is good to see you, though!"

I bit back a laugh while Derek smirked. Alex looked around the room that was full of vampires in shock and let out a long breath. "Alright, what did you have in mind?"

My father went on to explain everything, and I mean everything. Apparently, not many vampires knew exactly how the awkward love triangle between my father, Dominic, and Alex. Derek had pulled some seat up for us, sitting me between him and Evie, who was still sniffling beside me with her head on my shoulder.

After my father finish, he leaned back against the wall behind him and eyed Alex, waiting for him to have something to say. Alex sighed and looked at Helen, who seemed to be even more furious than she was last time I saw her.

"Well?" she looked at Alex who looked back at Hadrian.

"What do you need from us?"

"I need your full support and word that you're done trying to kill me. I don't want to have to kill you in front of all these nice people," my father replied.

Alex slowly stood up; my mother stood and started to head towards them but Elliot but a hand on her arm as Alex slowly walked towards my father. He stopped in front of him, my dad's blood crackling as Alex started to nod. "I know an apology doesn't suffice, but I can say we should just move the hell on and rid ourselves of that witch and your brother."

"It doesn't but it's a good start," my father answered, looking the vampire up and down while is beast licked his lips behind my father's eyes.

"That's how we started, and look, know we love each other," Dominic said as he gestured between himself and my father.

"Dom," my father groaned while Dominic just chuckled next to Lizzie who shook her head at him.

"Really?! Really Alex?!" a man called out.

My father snarled so angrily at him that a whimper almost came out of my mouth while Dominic hissed at him. Some vampires in the room were squirming in their seats as his blood crackled some more before he turned his gaze to the culprit of the words. Derek zipped over to the edge of the seats, his eyes almost black and murderous. "Steven either you quit your bullshit or I will skin your testicles myself!"

"Please Derek, let's talk about–"

"What I am, 'most afraid of?'" Derek mocked. "Please, get a new trick you fucker."

Stephen hissed at him before Dominic snarled. "Steven you behave or I will make you."

"Really Dom? Make me?" he mocked back.

Lizzie snarled as her eyes dilated while she turned her gaze to Steven. "You will not speak unless spoken to," she hissed out to him.

He opened his mouth to say something to her, but nothing came out. Not a damn word. My father chuckled lowly and nodded in approval. "Nice work Lizzie."

Lizzie winked deviously at Steven who was more or less fuming in his seat. Dominic gave her a quick chaste kiss while Helen let out a long sigh and turned to look back at my father.

"So, the mountains?" Helen asked, diffusing the situation while Barrett rolled his eyes at Steven.

"Yes, we'll come back for you," my father answered.

"What?" Evie asked. "Can we come now?"

"Dad?"

"Fine, Christ," my father breathed out.

"Us too!" Derek answered.

"Micah is going to love this," my father grumbled.

"Micah?" Derek asked.

"My beta," my father answered.

"Dad has a pack now," I whispered to Elliot.

"Well, how about a break?" Alister offered, clapping his hands to relieve some of the tension in the room.

Derek zipped to me as the room murmured in agreement. "Come on, I made a cake."

"Yes!" I turned to my mother who was chatting with Barrett. "Mom, Derek made cake."

"Fantastic," she said with a warm smile. "You go ahead sweetheart, I'll wait for your father."

Derek pulled me with him to the kitchen as Elliot, Evie, and Barrett followed along. He was still weeping as we walked down the halls and sniffling as he pulled out a German double chocolate cake that he made. Barrett pulled out five forks and distributed them; all of us digging in while Elliot poured out some glasses of milk.

"So, your dad has a pack?" Evie asked.

"Mhmm," I hummed while I swallowed down a bite. "The mountains. Not really sure of the details, but more or less it sounds like they're going to combine the packs. Cora's father was already made his beta."

"That's great news Charlotte," Evie replied with a watery-eyed smile. "I just missed you so much!"

"I missed you all too," I replied while I wiped away my own tears.

"Were Ethan and Levi as much of a babbling mess as we are?" Barrett asked was he took another bite.

I sighed as the bond twisted and shook my head. "Uh, we haven't told them yet..."

"What?!"

"Charlotte?!"

"Really?!"

"Really," I answered while I started to stab at a piece of the cake. "You heard my dad. We need the element of surprise on our side, especially with all the rogues. She's watching them closely, she would know if we didn't time this right."

"That blows," Elliot breathed out. "When will you?"

I shrugged. "Hopefully soon. It's not like I don't want to. Eve's struggling too."

"Shit," Derek muttered out. "Levi is going to shit. I knew there was something going on. I knew it!"

"Why?" I snapped my eyes up to look at Derek.

Derek licked his fork then looked back at me as he slid back on his stool. "Well, Dominic ran into our room the other night. Insane as usual. You know Elliot and I were in the middle of–"

"Ok love," Elliot cut in as his cheeks flushed. " Dominic ran into our room completely freaked out because of his mark. He said he had the strangest dream about Lizzie and that it felt like the bond was alive again.

"Derek and I–well we didn't want to upset him. He didn't take Lizzie dying well back then, obviously. No one takes that kind of thing well I suppose; Derek and I asked him some questions, neither of us believing him until he showed us his neck were there was a bloody fresh mark–"

"Then of course, he came to our room, waking us up," Barrett grumbled while Evie leaned her head on my shoulder again.

"He was so confused and freaked out. Both Queen B and I wondered if it was her. If it was a trick or some horrible magic of her's. I mean, we had talked about another portal, but when we couldn't talk to you or find any good evidence about a portal then we just assumed..."

"We wanted to talk to you all," I replied. "God how we wanted to, but we were afraid of her watching or seeing anything. We couldn't afford for that to happen."

"I understand," Elliot replied. "I would have done the same. God Ethan was so upset."

I cringed at his words and Evie just gave my free hand a squeeze. Barrett gave me a half smile with apologetic eyes. "Sorry Char, it's just been–well quite a damn mess."

"Yes, well we are cleaning that up," I added.

"Do you remember any of it?" Evie asked.

"A little," I replied honestly. "It's starting to fade. So what about Dominic again?"

"Right well," Derek said as he swallowed down some cake. "So we all thought he lost it–" he paused as we all laughed with him. "I mean it was insane. We called Callista but she had no clue.

"Over the next few days, he's just been in this weird haze. He said it felt like she was back. He thought it was impossible, we all did. I mean, for good reason too. We told him to wait a few more days and see if it went away, if not we would call Dagny or Bernard and see if either them or Callista had any ideas.

"But it didn't. It makes sense now of course. I bet Ethan and Levi had the same experience. We didn't even think to ask them, I mean, the thought that this," he said while waving his fork in a circle towards me. "Happened was not even on the short list of possibilities."

"Well, surprise?" I said with a tiny smile. "Oh and Evie I'm sorry but Lizzie popped in the other night and borrowed some things from you when we raided the warehouse, hope that's ok?"

"The warehouse?" she rushed out.

"Ya well like dad said, she has no more rogues. We raided the warehouse, got the rogues out and got the cures in them–or the ones that it would help, then we more or less tore the place apart then lit it on fire."

"You were in my closet?"

"Lizzie," I corrected.

"Queen B, when can we all go shopping?"

"Christ Evie! The woman still has to take her damn pack back!"

"But we need shoes!"

"Evie," I breathed out. "How about a vacation after this is all over?"

Evie squealed as Barrett mouthed, 'thank you,' to me while both Derek and Elliot shoved two large pieces of cake in their mouths while tears still pooled in their eyes. Tears that didn't stop flowing for the rest of the day.

After we finished the cake, I helped Elliot and Evie pack while my parents worked with the other vampires on a strategy for the upcoming days. We poofed them back to the mountains where Evie more or less tackled Cora when she hugged her. Micah was more amused than anything, he just waved my father's apologies for overcrowding us off and told him that we would figure it out.

Susie had us all chewing the moon plant leaves when we got back to prevent the headaches that seemed to be less and less worse. Derek walked around with me and helped me check on the rogues we had saved; they were all doing much better, feeling more like themselves. Susie reminded all of them to drink plenty of water so they could flush the toxins out of their system.

We were not going to make those poor people fight, but we had not met a single one that said they didn't want to–in fact, they offered to. They all wanted vengeance, they wanted justice. I didn't blame them, I didn't blame them at all.

I wanted more than blood.

My father started making plans with the captains that evening to train the men and women that did want to fight. Some of them were still too sick and we were not going to risk their lives, but the ones who were healthy could come and help us. They would be a great help for us.

The runner also came that evening from the flatlands. Zane had one of Xander's pack wolves meet him with the weekly report that said more or less that everything was fine. Aurelia would not know that these mountains were now ours–that they came back to the King's, the true King's.

The next day dad and I poofed to Brandon's pack. The rogues were all doing well, they were able to slowly trickle them out of the emergency shelters and into the pack lands without anyone noticing so far. Not like it really mattered all that much. We would be attacking her soon–we would end this soon.

The new wolves there wanted to fight. Brandon said that Fitz and Torrence had reported similar things. The new wolves wanted blood as well. My father was more than pleased, he was elated. He told Brandon to start picking through the ones that could fight verses the ones that could not and to start training the ones that could.

We asked Brandon if anyone suspected, if anyone had found anything out. He didn't think so. They killed off almost all the snakes on the line and have been vigilant about keeping the wolves away from the borders so no one else would see them. Brandon said that Ajax asked some questions but he brushed it off which he said that Ajax seemed to buy.

Spending the day with dad was good, it kept me busy and my mind off of things. Off of tonight. This morning dad told me we could go get them–we could see them. Thus all day that was what I was battling to keep off of my mind. I had felt the bond stir many times over the last few days, it was like he was testing it. It was during those moments that it was everything I had to not reach out to him, to keep my beast and I as far away from it. I had to keep reminding myself that it was for his own good–for our own good.

Cora was walking me and my bags to a new tiny cabin tucked away in some trees that were thin around this part of the mountain. She opened the door for me, one room with a red wooden stovetop furnace in one corner, a small bed along the wall with a trunk at the end of it. There was a tea kettle over the stove, a counter that ran along the wall with a basin of water on it that a hand pump spigot hovered over and some more shelves with various things like spices, cans of dried fruit, and coffee on it, and along the wall with a large window covered with thick red curtains was a clawfoot tub that had a bucket next to it.

I walked in and looked around as Cora rushed to the window and opened it so I could look out and see the woods in front of us. "I know it's not much, but we–well I figured you and Ethan wouldn't want to be stuck in your parent's place. We set Eve up in one too."

"It's perfect," I breathed out as I walked to the stove. "Do we have wood?"

"We should, you may need to chop some," Cora replied, causing me to smile a little. "There is a spigot there that you have to pump for water. The bath is nice but you have to heat it," she said as she waked towards the tub. She knelt down and pulled out a set of cookie sheets along with what looked like some copper pots. "You get the fire going then put some coals these, some embers, it will stay hot and help keep some of there water hot. Otherwise, you can use that pail," she said as she pointed to a larger copper pail to the side of the tub. "And stick it on the stove to heat the water up in."

I laughed to myself because frankly I didn't care as long as I got to see him. "This is fine," I said, walking onto the rug made of what looked like deer and sheep skins laid across the wooden floors.

Cora smiled and stood up. "The trunk has lots of blankets and I put some coffee in here this morning for you. I think there's bread and some other things–we had some of the gammas stock it up."

I let out a shaky breath and nodded to her. She smiled and walked over to me, hugging me while my heart beat a little faster. "It's going to be fine."

"Do I just poof and say 'come with me?' or do I poof and just kidnap him?"

"I think you should bring him here," Cora said with a little laugh. "He may lose his shit and it's better he does it here."

"Right," I replied. "Ok, well–ok then."

"Good luck," she said with a knowing smile as she left.

"Thank you," I breathed out while the door closed looking at my little one-room abode and praying that luck would be on my side.

On our side. We more than needed a little luck.
