Vampires and Hunters
Over the next few days, my eyesight had gradually gotten better. Other than a few blurry spots, I was finally able to see out of my only good eye again. To say I was afraid was an understatement, I was practically shitting my pants. Wesley had come over every night to keep me up to date on his research.
Trying to find a killer wasn't easy. Most times he comes in through my window at night. I'd ask what's wrong and he'd just say "nothing don't worry about it". But he didn't understand that his words only made me worry even more.
Sighing deeply, I placed my heavily written in notepad beside me. A dull ache began in my eye, I dropped some eyedrops into it before relaxing against the headboard. I spent two weeks out of school thanks to my worrywart of a mother.
Every second she had a maid in here checking for any indication of trouble or distress. I knew deep down my mother blamed herself for me turning out this way. She kept calling herself selfish for wanting a child with poison running rapidly through her system.
But how could my mother have known? She didn't know that ultimately my life would be challenging. She didn't know that I would end up this way, and so I constantly had to remind her that I didn't blame her.
I stood by my window glancing at the vast forest outside of our house. The moon shined brightly creating large shadows against my bedroom walls. With a sigh, a dark cloud fills my vision that if I hadn't been looking closely I wouldn't have surely missed it.
It looked to be a figure of some sort. I stood there wondering if I should take the risk in following it, even though my vision had come back it wasn't 100% clear. After having an internal battle I decided my curiosity would win. I ran to lock my door and then piled some pillows on my bed to make it seem like I was soundly asleep.
I then made my way towards the window opening it and leaving it open a tiny bit. I swiftly jumped down landing directly on my feet, perks of being a vampire. I quickly made my way into the deep forest behind our house.
I used a bit of my vampire speed, gliding through the trees. I knew this forest like the back of my hand, mostly because Wesley and I would play here as kids. The bitter smell of metallic became quite strong as I grew farther into the forest.
I came to a sudden halt when I spotted a large group of people. They all looked to be hunters, but why were they on our side of land ? I could smell hunter blood mixed with vampire blood. Two supernatural groups who were known for not getting along at all.
I crouched down hiding between some bushy bushes. I watched as the hunters walked about without a care in the world. It seemed they must have just set up camp here as various tents filled the vast area.
What confused me, even more, was the fact that the number of vampires present wasn't a small amount. It seemed to be equal to the number of hunters there. They were actually getting along!
After an hour of watching them carefully, I determined I had finally seen enough. I turned to head back when a young girl with fire red hair and golden eyes glared at me. "Who are you and why are you spying on my family"?
I narrowed my eyes at her carefully, her hand gripping a large bow and arrow. I smelt her hunter blood as the metallic smell became intense. " This isn't your land, none of you should be here". I stood my ground as my vision began to blur a bit.
She smirked at me with an evil grin. "Boss will want to speak with you. You'll need to come with me" she roughly grabbed my arm tugging me towards her camp. I pulled my arm back before the rest of the group of hunters could see me.
She threw an arrow at me and I thankfully dodged it. I wasn't a good fighter at all, but I knew enough for me to get away. She took small swords aiming them at my face, I dodged them carefully. This seemed to anger her as she threw blow after blow.
As I blocked each attack, my mother's teachings infiltrated my mind. Find the weakest spot of your opponent. Once they let there guard down that's when you must strike". But it seemed her moves only became swifter as she dodged my pathetic punches. She scraped her dagger against my cheek creating a cut.
"Come with me now or you will die here"! She snarled her chest heaving up and down. I held a palm against my injured cheek, I had to get away somehow. The more I stayed the more I risked myself being noticed by the other hunters.
But if I willingly went with her I could ultimately be putting myself in more danger. I was deep in my thoughts when I didn't notice the huge arrow coming my way. I embraced the impact when a sudden body covered mine.
I looked up to see Wesley holding me tightly, his face contorted in pain. That's when I noticed the arrow sticking out from his back. "Why... Are you stupid why would you do that"! I screamed as his body grew heavy.
Blood seeped through the shirt on his shoulder. I tried holding up when I felt a hard impact across my head. I as well greeted darkness.
