Finding The Killer
I spent every waking moment trying to find Nuri's killer. I slept, ate, and breathed my research because it was the only thing keeping me sane. Along with Wesley, who stood by my side now more than ever. He was still punished for going behind the packs back but his parents understood I needed a friend more than ever now.
Lauren had tried speaking to me on multiple occasions. She'd put on her fake sad face trying to force some tears out. "I really wanted to go to Nuri's funeral.... I just... couldn't" she had told me which was utter bullshit. There was no excuse as to why she would purposely miss her bestfriends funeral.
I don't even think she had regarded Nuri as her friend at all. I was starting to realize Nuri had been my only true friend. She had always been there to help me through tough times. I was so grateful that I still had her with me even if she wasn't completely human anymore.
Wesley had been looking up ways so that I could communicate with her. So far we found nothing but I was hopeful that something would eventually show up. With a deep sigh I began to pack up my things to head home. I had spent some time in the library trying to occupy myself as much as possible.
Just as I am leaving I accidentally bump into someone. I try and keep my balance so that my face doesn't greet the floor. "I'm so sorry.... are you alright"? The girl asked and sure enough it was the girl with the weird scent. Glancing at her face I was still shocked that the vision in my blind eye completely appeared.
I could clearly make out the girls face. She glanced at me nervously awaiting my reply. "Uh yeah... no worries... I'm fine" I finally said and she breathed a sigh of relief.
"I think we've met before.... your the library girl"! She said excitedly causing me to jump at the loudness of her voice. Her dark hair flooped about on top of her head. Her hazel eyes where wide open in excitement.
"Uh yeah we met in the library... it's nice to see you again" I said with a sheepish smile. She giggled lightly grabbing onto my hand.
"I'm pleased to meet you again! Although I'm sorry about your... loss.. that must have been tough" she gave me a sad smile patting my hand lightly. How could she have possibly known about that? Wasn't she new in our school?
I frowned deeply, this girl was definitely a mystery. "By the way I'm Katalina" she stuck out her hand and I shook it gently.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Adora". We shook hands before I pulled mine away first. The chemical like smell was so pungent it began to burn my nose.
I pulled my bag tighter towards my body. "Uh well it was nice meeting you... I have get going now". My eyes glance towards the entrance where Wesley leaned against the wall. He had texted me to say he would be walking me home.
"Of course! We should hang out sometime if you're free. Anyway I hope to see you around". She bounced away, her long dark hair trailing behind her. I began to walk towards Wesley who stuck his hand out for me to hold.
We made it outside the cold winter air blowing against our faces. "Who was that girl you were talking to" ? Wesley asked as we slowly trailed the path towards my house.
"She's a new student. Her name is Katalina... we bumped into each other before" I say glancing across the street at a couple of kids jumping into some muddy puddles. He didn't ask me anymore questions the whole way.
Meanwhile Katalina had secretly snuck back out of the window in the library. Immediately changing back into her original form, a sense of satisfaction rolled against her body. She scratched and clawed at her skin, turning into a human had proved to be difficult than she had anticipated.
Making her way back towards her fellow vampires and hunters she made her way inside her office. Taking a seat she glanced at the mermaid heart sitting on her desk.
A mere presence appeared outside her door and she immediately called them in. A petite brunette girl who looked to be a vampire stepped in. "Master... I was told you wanted to see me"?
She eyed the girl for a long time. She would be good enough to fool other students. "I need you to take my place. I cannot stand transforming into a human all the time. So I am now leaving it up to you" she explained to the girl.
The brunette girls eyes grew wide with nervousness. How could she possibly pull this off? "I have a potion you will need to drink. It will transform you only for a day, I will need to make one that can last longer. But in the meantime, your name is Katalina and you will be attending school.
The small girl nodded her head. "Yes master... I understand". Feeling satisfied she smirked heavily. If all went well only then would her goal to create a hybrid clan of her own be successful.
"Don't screw this up. Remember exactly what I am capable of" she said with an evil grin. She dismissed the girl from her office staring at the mermaid heart that sat on her desk.
Hmm mermaid breath is the final thing I needed.
