J.D walked down the halls, drumming her fingers against her thighs to the tune of her music. She wanted to get the day over with, she was absolutely drained from the previous day, and wasn't in the mood to speak. She looked up at the illuminated halls and her eyebrows furrowed. "Flash?"
Down the hall was Flash Thomson, hitting another student. She clenched her jaw and exhaled through her nose, storming down the linoleum floors with an odd grace about her. People stepped aside the angry teen, clearing a path as she angrily approached the bully.
As she drew closer, she heard the slam of a body into a locker, and the smack of fist to body. Her walk quickened into a run, and her mouth dropped when she saw who Flash was abusing.
Mason shrunk up helplessly as he was hit repeatedly, his hands submissively shielding himself from the oncoming blows.
Without a second thought she jumped onto Flash's back, sending him to the ground. She was overcome with a protective rage, only seeing red. Her angst from the previous day only added fuel to the fire. She began hitting him, grabbing his letterman jacket and slamming him to the ground again. "What the fuck is wrong with you? That's my brother!"
Flash shoved her off and dove for her, slamming his fist into her stomach, then her cheek. She wheezed and tried to compose herself, kicking his legs from beneath him. She went to punch his face, but two pairs of arms grabbed her, pulling her back. A single tear had escaped her eye a rolled down her hot, red cheek. Her breathing was heavy and snotty, and her knees buckled when the two people dragged her into an empty classroom. She pulled her arms from their grips and looked up through her watery vision.
"What the hell was that?" Peter asked her and she ground her teeth together, feeling the anger slowly leave her body and replace with an anxious feeling in her stomach.
"Where's Mason?" She asked, her voice trembling. "Is he okay?"
"That was absolutely reckless, J.D." Mr. Ikeman stated, a deep frown on his face. "You could be suspended for that kind of behaviour."
"I wasn't just going to stand there and let him beat my brother to a pulp." She snapped, and he sighed, folding his arms and staring down at her.
Running a hand down his face in exasperation, Mr. Ikeman glanced down and noticed a growing purple colour on his student's cheek. "Parker, take her to the nurse's office. She needs some ice."
"Yeah, of course, sir." The teenager muttered, bending down and helping J.D up. His arm fell onto her waist and he guided her out of the classroom. She scrunched her face up in pain and stopped before they got to the door. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." She exhaled softly and reached forward to open the door, only to have Peter stop her and open it instead. "What a gentleman."
Peter scoffed and they walked outside, seeing the situation have been cleared up outside. Neither Mason nor Flash were in sight, and J.D's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, before she groaned.
"I'm so getting suspended."

"Suspension, for the both of you." Mr. Darby announced, shuffling a stack of papers in his hands before placing it to the side of his desk. J.D felt the disapproving stare of Herb at her side, and she pursed her lips together, looking at her lap.
"This is absolutely ridiculous." Mrs. Thompson replied in a snotty voice. "She attacked my son, why is he getting punished?"
"Because he was hitting my brother, you cow." J.D muttered under her breath, and was nudged by her uncle as a gesture to shut up.
"Miss Purnell only reacted this way because he was bullying her brother, Mason. He also retaliated in hitting J.D several times. I'm afraid this has gone on too long, and these two must be put in check. I understand that Mr. Thompson has a history of aggression with Peter Parker, but he has never hurt Mason Purnell that I am aware of. Because of this, I would like to have him tested for drugs." Mr. Darby said, sparking interest in everyone in the room.
"What?" Mrs. Thompson exclaimed, and J.D looked over at the bully in shock. "My son would never touch anything like that."
"The behaviour he was exhibiting was that of some sort of substance." Mr. Darby continued, and Mrs. Thompson practically shook with rage. "All we need is a urine sample, so he may be excused in a minute."
Flash hung his head and nodded slightly. J.D was shocked. Was he under the influence of something? Or did Mason say something to provoke him?
Mr. Darby sighed. "A week for both of you. I hope when you return you will both have matured and will have realised your faults. Now, Miss Purnell and Mr. Thompson, will you step outside whilst I talk to the adults."
J.D and Flash nodded, pushing themselves up and retreating. J.D watched as Flash walked past to retrieve a test from the nurse, and she pressed the ice pack to her cheek, cradling her side as she fell into the chair next to her brother. He had fallen asleep, a dark ring around his eye and an bag of ice lying on his stomach. J.D smiled slightly at his soft snores, the only peaceful thing coming out of that day. She leaned back in her seat and turned away, resting her head on the wall.
Flash returned with a nervous frown on his face. He sat beside J.D and placed his head in his hands. He was pale and trembling. J.D looked down at him. "You good?"
"I don't know what's wrong with me." He responded, his voice soft and weak. He looked up at her, his eyes bloodshot, dark rings surrounding them. "I promise I didn't take anything. I've never taken any kind of drug in my life, I'd never hurt your brother like that on purpose. I'd usually just scare him a bit. Y-You believe me, don't you?"
J.D looked at him unsurely. Tears were pouring down his cheeks and if he was on something, he hadn't taken much before, possibly not even at all. J.D swallowed after a moment, and tilted her head. "Yeah, I think I do. But that doesn't mean I forgive you for punching my brother."
"I-I'm sorry." He wheezed, and ran a sweaty hand through his damp hair. "What's wrong with me?"

"Flash has tested positive for Dexedrine." Herb informed J.D later that afternoon. She froze from where she was eating cereal at the table and looked up at him. "According to the email, he claims to have taken nothing of the sort, and will face a longer suspension, possibly even expulsion."
"Oh my god." J.D muttered and ran a hand through her hair. Mason was sound asleep in his bedroom, bundled in blankets with a soundtrack playing softly. "I thought it was a legal drug?"
"Sure, but he was still under the influence and abused a fellow student." Herb shrugged. "Are you two friends?"
"It's complicated." J.D responded and her ears perked up when she heard a knock at the door. "I'll get it."
She walked over to the oak door and reached for the doorknob, twisting it. The door opened, revealing Peter Parker and Harry Osborn. "Hey, J.D. How's Mason?"
"He's fine, sleeping." She responded, staring up at Harry. "Hey, Harry. How's life?"
"Pretty good." He responded, throwing a smile her way. He was quite the handsome fellow, one she had met more than once. A bit on the cocky side, but a good person nonetheless. "And yourself? Heard you got suspended."
"Yeah, she got into a fight with Flash Thompson." Peter replied for her and Harry's smile widened into a grin.
"Badass." He chuckled and she rolled her eyes, beckoning them in. "I think the last time I was here was over a year ago."
"It hasn't changed." J.D called over her shoulder, and Herb looked up from where he now sat at the dining table. "Hey Herb, is it cool if these guys are here? They wanted to check up on Mase."
"Yeah, sure." The uncle nodded, and took a sip of his coffee, glancing back down to read his newspaper.
The trio disappeared into the lounge, and the two teenage boys dropped onto the couch. J.D positioned herself on the armchair, and stared at them. Peter laced his hands together awkwardly, but Harry spread himself out like he was at home. "So, did you hear the good news?"
"Enlighten me, I need something happy." J.D muttered, placing her hands behind her head as she leaned back.
"You'll be seeing a lot more of this face next year." Harry gestured to himself, and grinned. "Guess who's moving to Midtown High?!"
J.D couldn't help the small smile growing on her lips. "That kid from Jurassic World? He's cute."
"Har-har, hilarious." Harry sneered sarcastically. "You're just too excited that you'll be joined by yours truly."
"I can't control myself." J.D retorted. "And if you're going to be attending, you may as well call it by it's proper name."
"What, Midtown School of Science and Technology?" He asked, his eyebrow raised. "C'mon, no one uses that name anymore. It's Midtown High. Much easier to say, if I'm honest."
J.D scoffed and rolled her eyes at his cheeky, boyish tone. "It'll be nice having another idiot around."
Peter watched the pair carefully, his eyes darting to each of them warily. Was it selfish that he was kind of regretting bringing Harry over? He and J.D always got along marvellously, and there were no awkward silences that would usually occur with acquaintances. He kind of hoped there would be, instead of this unintentional flirting. Well, it was probably intentional on Harry's side, but not on J.D's.
"What's going on--oh, hey guys." Mason's croaky voice entered the conversation. The trio glanced over to the pale boy wrapped in a grey blanket like a burrito. J.D shot him a smile and patted the spot on the armchair next to her. It was a pretty big armchair, and they had been sharing it for several years. Mason sauntered over and plopped down, draping half of his blanket on his sister.
"Thank god, you saved me from their flirting." Peter faked a smile, though he was pretty serious.
"Flirting?" Mason queried, still managing to tease in his state. "Is this a new couple on the horizon?"
He let out a groan when J.D nudged him in his good side. Harry laughed and sent J.D a wink, and Peter's jaw clenched, though no one noticed but Mason.
Harry's phone dinged, and the teenager pulled it out and his eyebrows raised. "Hey, a new video of Spider-Man's been released!"
"Really?" Mason waved him over. Peter and Harry both made their way to the twins, the latter unlocking his phone and opening the video.
The video was titled: Spider-Man Saves Car From Hitting Bus
It opened with security camera footage of a car speeding down a backroad, and all of the teenagers watched curiously. In a second, it cut to a bus driving past the intersection the car was coming up to. Just before the car hit the bus, the familiar hero threw himself between the vehicles, using his strength to catch and stop the car, pushing it back down and swinging off, just past the camera.
The screen went black and Mason let out an impressed breath of air. "Man, that guy is so badass."
"I want to see more of the Jedi Girl." Harry piped up, and J.D furrowed her eyebrows.
"The Jedi Girl?" She queried. "That's what they're calling her? That's such a dumb name."
"What else are we meant to call her?" Harry retorted. "Yoda? There's not much else."
"Does she have any weapons?" J.D tried to hint. "Anything else she can do?"
"Yeah, maybe she has like a knife or something." Peter piped up, and J.D pursed her lips, slightly taken aback by his input. Had he seen her at some point?
"Well, if she doesn't come forward with a name soon, she'll get given one." Harry stated, and J.D swallowed, knowing exactly what she was going to do that night.

J.D ran down the streets of New York, having already caught the subway into the central city. She had looked at a map in search of the building she was searching for, and had taken off in that direction. She dodged night-goers and stared up at the sky every so often, trying to find the familiar logo.
When she reached the outstanding building, she grinned.
The Daily Bugle stood tall and proud, the large instrument bright and gleaming at the top of the structure. She walked in and grinned when she saw a worker leaving the elevator. She ran towards it, dodging the woman and jumping in just before the doors shut. Once she was inside, her eyes narrowed. Where to now?
The elevator began to rise, and the doors dinged. Two more people stepped in, chattering about their boss, J. Jonah Jameson. It was a name she had heard a few times, and she had seen it at the top of the newspapers each day.
"He's always staying back late." One of them muttered. "I heard he's trying to come up with a name for that new hero."
"It'll probably be something stupid." The other replied. "It's not like he's very creative, plus he won't accept input from anyone else."
The elevator dinged again, and J.D quickly slipped out into a large office filled with dozens of desks and computers. She searched for an active computer, and grinned when she saw an illuminated screen in the corner.
There was nothing else on the desk, and she could only assume it was a lazy employee who forgot to log out. She sat down and placed her gloved fingers on the keyboard. She opened a new article on the Daily Bugle website and blew a piece of hair that had fallen over her eyes. She was still invisible, but if anyone came in and heard her wild typing, they'd suspect something.
She scrunched her face up in thought, not sure what to write. She sighed and entered a title.
New Hero With a New Name
The question has been on everyone's mind recently. Who's the girl in the mask?
Since the posting of the viral picture in front of the OSCORP building where said girl is saving a suicidal man with a force-type power, what are we supposed to call her?
An anonymous user has made a comment, mentioning that she had once seen the masked hero walking through the streets with supposed friend, Spider-Man. Following them for a while, this user has given us information regarding the name of the girl, and we'd like to hear your opinions.
Bladerunner was the name given, and I'm sure you're like me and are questioning the meaning behind it. Did she choose this name herself? What is the significance?
Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
J.D let out a breath and tilted her head at the article she had just written. She had no desire to become a journalist when she was older, but this seemed mediocre enough.
Now, thousands of people would see this and know that she now had a name.
A grin slowly rose on her face.
She was no longer nameless.
