(22) Suprise Romantic Dinner

Soleil

It has been four days since I've seen Damira. And to be completely honest with you, I've been a complete bitch because of it. I freaking miss the crap out of that annoying woman. Baden and Jack tell me constantly that she's okay but I want to physically see Damira, to find out if she is definitely alright. Sighing, I fold the last letter and place it in the pile. I guess I'll send these out and see how the decorating is coming along. We have three more days till the Annual Meeting Ball which is on Sunday. Three more days. Sighing deeply, I tap the note pad with my pen, watching pack members scurrying about.

"Soleil," Baden greets, giving me a look. "Why are you just sitting there. Have you sent the letters to the messengers yet?" I hum, debating whether I should answer truthfully. Baden seeing right through me, growled lowly. "Soleil..." I put my hands up in surrender, getting out of the chair and gathering the sealed letters.

"I'm heading out, now! Bye!!!" I rush off, leaving Badens cursing behind me. Pack members stood by, laughing at Badens cursing and my running figure. I grin widely at them all, leaving the packhouse and off towards the Messenger tower. The town was bustling with life, people selling goods and pups running around. People laughing and having fun.

They aren't worried at all. Which I guess is good in a way. However, they have no idea what will be coming. Catching my breath, I pace myself as soon as the Messenger tower comes into view. Remember that Temple I saw and remodeled? Well, it's tower holds the fastest Messengers on the Island. Since mobile phones don't exist on the Island (Might need to look into that) we send out, no not owls, but wolves! Ironic right? Nah not really.

The new Priest greets me by the wooden doors, smiling widely. "Luna! So good to see you! Why do we grace your presence today?" The man before me bows his bold head is Jeramey White, a Wolf Damira call Elder. They are like the oldest wolves on the Island.

"Hi, Jeramey. I need to send these letters out. The Annual Meeting Ball is in a few days so these need to be sent asap."

"No problem, Luna. We have Messenger Abbie, Jane, and Justin on standby. They are willing to send them out." I give him a sincere smile, tension leaving my shoulders. One more job is done. Thank gosh.

"Thank you, Jeramey." He takes the letters and bows lowly again before sauntering towards the Messenger tower. As I was leaving, a young Messenger in training, pops beside me, a childish grin upon her childlike features. "Hi?" The small boy giggles and hands me a wax-sealed letter.

"For you, luna!"

"Thanks..." I trail off, the small boy running off. Now wasn't that weird. Eyeing the letter, I pick the wax seal. Who would send me letters? I don't know anyone, besides who lives in the packhouse. And well outside the Island, people probably think I'm dead. Not that I care anyway.

Humming a small tune, I open the wax seal with pop and slide the letter out. The familiar cursive handwriting made me smile. Damira's elegant handwriting curled over the pages like a poem.

To my dear mate ~

The moon is bright yet your heart shines the most.

A forest filled with daises cannot compare to your powerful mind.

At sundown, when the moon is at it's highest, find the path of silvery light,

Then you'll meet the love of your life.

Yours's truly, your mate.

(So I am not the best a poems so don't judge me)

I couldn't stop gazing over the page, my heart thumping wildly. What is this supposed to mean? Is she setting a game or something? If so, I'm willing to play. Grinning at my thoughts, I start to head for home. My first clue is when the sundown when the moon is at it's highest peak.

Bring it, mate.

Hours later~

As soon as I got home, I found the packhouse empty bar the kitchen staff. However, what I noticed was the nice cakes being set inside a basket. I had asked what it was for but all I got was silence. I had grumbled and headed for my room and found a folded note upon my bed, roses, and a golden box.

I see you have agreed to this... game. Here's a small good luck gift.

Inside the box was an elegant red dress, its silky material flattering. Now that is what I'm currently wearing, silver heels to complete the look. I didn't paint my face and just brushed my hair out. Nothing fancy.

Jasmine scowled at my look as I walked out of the room. "What happened? Why is your hair like this? Your face is perfect... but that hair!" She exclaimed, throwing her arms around. I'm surprised she's babyless today. Jack must be babysitting, I chuckle at the thought of Jack stumbling about.

"I look fine. Damira won't care." Jasmine let out a sigh, pinching the bridge of her nose.

"Fine, whatever. Go, its sundown and the moon is nearly at its highest peak." I take a look outside the window, eyes widening. Night already? Nodding, I head down the stairs with Jasmine, heart starting to beat with excitement. No one has done this for me before. Never.

Jasmine led me towards the back door and the track wolves take the forest was littered with silver lights, rose petals lying upon them in a pattern. A tentative smile was placed upon my lips as I followed the silvery path, Jasmine wishing me luck behind me. Upon the trees, as I went by were wrapped in fairy lights, lighting up my path. To keep me from being scared.

As I got further in, the sound of flowing water made me walk faster. My smile widened as I find a giant waterfall, glittering under the moonlight. That's when I notice the one person I've been missing for ages. Damira, glad in her very own dress, black and flowing like mine stands by a picnic set up. Candles and baskets of food and wine.

"I see you have found me," she purrs, coming closer to gently take my hand. Bringing me closer, her hand cups my cheek. "Your stunning." My cheeks flush with pink. I lean into her, smiling softly.

"This is amazing, Damira." I'm so grateful for this. No one has showered me in love like Damira has tonight. Damira pecks my lips softly before pulling me towards the picnic.

"Anything for you my sweet. Come," With giddiness, I take a seat and eye everything from the scenery and towards Damira and towards the food. Damira pours the wine into the glasses, handing me one. "Cheers, beautiful."

I clink our glasses, "Cheers, darling."

Eh, so this is a short chapter. I'm super tired and have had the worst week ever. I hate being an essential worker. People are super mean!

Sorry if this chapter is really short, and if it sucks but you have to admit, its kind of cute!

Tell me what you think!
