(19) Attack

Soleil

"Mother fucker! Jack, I'm going to kill you!" Jasmine's screams confirmed, the baby was certainly coming. And they were coming now. Inside the packhouses clinic, many pack members stood outside, praying and beaming with happiness. A new pup is being born. I let go of my mates hand and walk over to the closed door, looking through the small square window. Jack beside his beloved winced as Jasmine crushed his hand, watching in wonder and love.

"Almost... Almost Beta... And here she is!" The doctor held onto a small baby girl, curly chestnut hair upon her small head. I smiled fondly as I watch the mother and father coo around the newborn. My heart aching slightly, a frown now upon my brows. I rub my chest and look away.

However, Jasmine cried out. The doctor shouting about another head. My eyes widen as Jasmine pushes, a small cry leaving the baby boys lip. "A...boy!" We all stood shell shocked. Jasmine and Jack have twins.

"Damn, his sperm must be very competitive then..." I hear Damira murmur, taking the spot beside me. I turn to her, watching her expressions turn from sour to envy to sadness. My heart did leaps in my chest as she bit her lip, watching the couple.

"Damira...?" She turns to me, confliction plastered on her beautiful features.

"Forget it." With that, she turns and storms out of the clinic. I watch her go, understanding she may need time to think. A lot has happened today. Especially the comment about her mother. When grandmother mentioned the old Luna... Damira instantly froze, eyes glazed over in memory. Actually, she seems to do that every time someone mentions the woman. Humming softly, I enter the room, smiling widely at the two.

"Soleil!" Jasmine grins, holding her baby girl while Jack holds his son.

"Congrats, guys. Twins, huh?" Jack chuckles, a blush on his cheeks. I coo as I come closer to them, the chubby cheeks of the newborns squeezable. "You picked out some names?" I ask, caressing the baby boy's soft cheek with my finger.

"Well, my baby girl here is Lily-Anne and our baby boy Kion." Jasmine yawns, staring down at Lily-Anne. She turns to me, smiling.

"Want to hold her?" I raise a brow, biting my lip.

"You sure? This is my first time holding a baby so..." Jack snorted.

"Go on. We know you want to." Grinning, I carefully scoop the small baby into my arms, cooing.

"Hi, baby. I'm your aunty, Soleil. Aren't you beautiful." Lily-Anne hadn't opened her eyes yet but I can tell she'll have her mother's eyes. I walk over to little Kion, kissing his head. "And hi to you too cutie." Lily-Anne squirmed in my arms, her little face forming a cute frown. My eyes widen and I slowly rock her. "It's okay... Shh.. here is your Mumma," I hand her softly back to Jasmine who whispers soft sweet things to calm the little one down.

Jack pats my back, "You'll be a great mother one day." my heart clenches at the thought. Who knows if I'll have a kid. Damira and I... I have no clue what's happening. But like I've said a dozen times. I'm not giving up. I promised the Moon Goddess. I promised myself.

"Yeah..." I trail off, looking out the small window. Smoke rising from the forest, close to the shore. I walk closer, squinting. My eyes widened as an alarm blared through the packhouse, people screaming and running from the forest and closer to the Royal Packhouse. Guards swarm in the room.

"Luna King! We need your help! Our attackers have bombarded the shoreline with bombs! The Alpha was injured!" I froze, watching the men with disbelief. My mate is hurt? My mate is hurt! We are being attacked! I turn to the couple, eyes wide.

"Stay here!" Without any replies, I run off and outside. People screaming and panicking. The guards who had informed me followed closely behind. "Where?"

"This way, Luna Queen." I followed them towards the forest, heart pounding. I couldn't breathe properly. Heck, Damira might not be breathing right now. Wait no! She's okay. She has to be. That's when I spot a group, my mate lying in the middle. Sprinting faster, I skid to a halt, kneeling beside my mate. Her stomach gaping with a large wound, a spear lodged there. I cup a hand to my mouth, tears welling.

"Damira..." I pull her head onto my lap, trying to figure out what is happening. I didn't know what to touch. What to do. "Get it out..." No one moved. "Get that fucking spear out of my mate!" A young she-wolf bowed her head, sympathy in her eyes.

"We... we can't. It's lodged too deep and the spearhead is laced with poison."

"Then it's the best fucking reason to pull it out!" I am so angry. Angry at the people who attacked. Angry at who hurt my mate. Angry at these wolves who won't help. "Fucking hell, go grab a doctor! Now! That's a command!" My heart is hanging on the edge, almost falling apart as I watch people scatter, watch my mate barely breathe.

I caress her face, her eyes shut tight. "Damira... Mira, you have to wake up. I know you hate me, but you can't hate me enough to leave me alone." I study her face before looking at her wounds. I'm so going to kill whoever did this.

"Shut up, human..." My eyes widened as I quickly turn to her. Damira's beautiful eyes slowly opening, watching me with a pained expression. "I'm not going to die... b-but thanks for caring. I guess..." I almost laugh at her embarrassed features but the fact that she is still injured lingered.

"Luna!" a man with a white coat rushed over, worry lining his aging face. "I'm here. I will need your help with this." I nodded.

"I'll help as much as I can," Damira grunted in pain as he touched the sensitive wound.

"I'm going to pull the spear out, but what I need you to do it take this wet cloth and put it straight over the wound. On the cloth is a cure for the poison." I nodded, grabbing the cloth, ready to get this over with. I need her safe. "Okay, in three... two..."

When he said that the last number and the spear were ripped out, I launched in action. The gaping wound now covered with wet cloth. Damira grunted, trying to hide her pain. I sighed, looking at my mate, tears again welling. "You scared me half to death!" Damira grinned.

"Well, I didn't think my looks were that scary." I huffed, pressing on her wound and she let out a hiss. "Alright woman, don't damage me any more than I already am." Rolling my eyes, I turn to the doctor.

"Will she be alright?" I ask. He nodded, grabbing a bottle of something.

"She will be perfectly fine. Just get her to drink this tonight before bed and her wolf will do the rest of the healing."

"Thank you, doctor."  He handed me the small bottle, wrapping up her wound and left to attend to anyone else who had been hurt. I turn to Damira, shaking my head. "I think I almost had a heart attack." Damira looked away, eyes flashing with an unreadable look.

"You shouldn't worry about someone like me." She muttered causing me to frown.

"Damira, I'm slowly trying to figure you out and yet, I'm falling for each and every piece about you. So yes, I'm going to care about someone like you. Now, let's get you home and figure out who attacked." I remember the Moon Goddess said some evil was coming our way. An enemy.  just didn't think it would happen now.

I watch my mate be pulled onto a stretcher, heading towards our home. Turning to the shore, squinting out to sea. Nothing was there. So how did the place get bombed and who did it? Is our enemy here on the Island? I shake my head and head off towards the packhouse.

Little did I know, the enemy walking within the crowds of Howling Island.

So what did you think? Exciting?

Not going to fast am I??? If I am, please say so.

Anyways, it's early in the morning and I need to sleep. G'night everyone and stay safe ~
