She was running through the dark misty forests, that were slowly filling with the smoke of that which she had left behind. The seventeen year old girl only had her sliver dagger and a sliver bladed katana. Then as she was running she could hear the eerie mourningful howl from the lycan, the alpha of this pack, the one reaping havoc on her base camp. She could feel eyes on her as she ran; the air began to chill as the sky grew dark she could see her own breathe. Breathing became difficult as the smoke from that of which she had left behind. She could see the luminescent beady yellow, blue and red eyes every time she looked back over her shoulder, and she could hear the angry snorts of the wolves laying terror upon the base camp. She'd lost her whole family in just one night, friends too, due to this attack. Rosaleigh was on her way to her friends house, 200 miles east from base camp.
"Little girl! Come out to play! We won't hurt you for stabbing the alpha." A males voice echoed through the forest causing Rosaleigh to stop and duck behind one of the trees for cover.
With her heart racing in her chest, and shallow breaths she began to climb up the tree, as quickly as possible. Sweat began beading upon her forehead as she pulled herself up. As she went for the next branch , a wolf leaped up and it's sharp teeth tore into her ankle; she tried her hardest not to scream from the agonizing, burning pain. With all the excess weight the branch she was holding began to bend. She heard the crack of the branch and that's when she kicked the wolf in the head making it plummet about three feet onto a large pointed rock that sliced through its stomach. The glistening red blood, that shone an inky black in the darkness of the forest, splattered all over Rosaleigh and the base of the tree. The wolves agonized squeals captured the attention of the other wolves, and they began to track the noise.
Rosaleigh gasped at the gruesome sight, as the thick warm liquid splattered onto her face and body. She began to climb higher reaching for a branch from another tree to swing over on, biting her lip to ignore the pain that coming from her ankle. She looked below her, watching how the ground spun beneath her, the male and the other wolves found the squealing one below. The wolf shifted back into a female, and she reached for the sharp jagged arrowhead that was protruding through her sternum and abdomen; she instantly recoiled and drew her hand back slightly resting it just above it on her her chest. She began to cough violently and blood spilled from the corners of her lips and more gurgled in the back of her throat as she wheezed and began whining. The whining pulled at Rosaleigh's heart and her emotions, she didn't mean to hurt anyone. The she-wolf below searched the crowd looking for someone, her mate to be exact, the male in human form walked towards her, with tears in his eyes.
" Please........I....I don't want to die." She cried out reaching for his outstretched hand, coughing up more blood." Dominic I'm sorry.......I thought......I thought I could get her."
"Shhh, shh. It's okay baby. I'm here, everything's going to be okay. You'll be okay." He cried grabbing her small hand.
" I don't want to....die." She cried once more as blood gurgled up, her eyes glazing over becoming glassy.
"You're not going to die my love. Everything's going to be okay." He cried more, streams streaming down his cheeks like little waterfalls.
Her body lurched violently, shaking with even more blood seeping out of her mouth like tiny bloody waterfalls almost beautiful in a sense. Rosaleigh not able to watch anymore through her blurry vision swung completely into the next tree, sitting on a branch to take a small break to tend to her ankle, her broken ankle that blood was seeping from the giant teeth marks. She tore a piece of her whit leggings that wolf had torn already and tired it around her ankle that was bleeding profusely; biting her lip hard fighting the urge to scream.
"Alpha! She went this way!" A female shouted out causing Rosaleigh to jump slightly.
"Good! Find her! I want her brought to me!" A louder masculine voice snarled, sending electrifying shivers up and down Rosaleigh's spine.
She swung from tree to tree until she could hardly hear the wolves and she had run out of trees to take her forward, so she dropped down from the tree. She collapsed as soon as she put the slightest pressure on her left ankle, biting her fist as not to scream and give away her location, she used the tree to pull herself up. She leaned on the tree until the sounds of wolves invaded her ears causing her to panic she quickly pushed herself off of the tree and tried to run as fast as she could. She limped as fast as she could glancing over her shoulder constantly not watching where she was running to; she was running straight towards a cliff without even realizing it. The phantom eyes of the wolves bounced around her vision, causing her to slip on the gravel that lay before the water fall, her ankle gave out causing her to bash her head into a a rock, the momentum caused her to tumble over the cliff face, her reflexes caught onto the ledge that protrudes from the cliff however. This time she didn't hold back the scream, she screamed so loud that echoed throughout the entire forested lot, causing every wolf to turn towards the west part if the territory; the scream was so loud that the entire forest went dead silent for several minutes. Then the wolves began panicking that was the girl they needed alive, they alerted the alpha as they ran towards the noise which was about five miles to the west.
After a few minutes the alpha and his pack happened upon the cliff face with the beautiful sparkling waterfall. The alpha searched for the girl, panicking when he couldn't see her for she is his mate even if she doesn't know it. His lycanthrope whined inside of his head fear igniting within his chest he ran to the treeline on both sides of the cliff hoping to find her maybe hanging from a tree, he wasn't that lucky however. on his way out of the southern treeline he saw her hanging for her life off of the cliff's edge. His eyes widened in fear, his wolf taking partial control and he ran to the ledge as quick as possible scrambling over the gravel flopping onto his stomach looking down she was about two feet below him, there was no way a human would survive a fall like this into the icy waters below, only a lycan not even a werewolf could survive it. The big bad lycan felt tears well up deep within his cold blue eyes as he looked down at his mate hanging from the cliff. He reached for her hand and she jerked back slightly slipping even further down and dangling by only one hand now, her muscles straining to hold her weight.
"Please give me your hand. You'll fall.......you'll die if you fall...." He shouted over the roaring of the waterfall
Rosaleigh shaking from the icy cold wet spray and mist from the waterfall, shook her head no." N-no you'll just...k-kill me anyway." Her teeth chattered together as the cold seeped into her bones.
"No! Noo one will harm you dear. Please give me your hand." He cried out of fear of loosing his mate leaning even further over the edge almost falling over himself but two wolves grabbed his ankles between their teeth anchoring him.
"O-okay I-I'll come with you.....help...help me up." She reached her right hand toward his outstretched one slowly, but just before she could grab his hand her left hand slipped off the ledge she was clinging onto for dear life, and now she was in permanent free-fall as she plummeted down beneath the mist of the waterfall, screaming, until they were cut short, mid scream.
"NOOOOOOOOOO!" He tried to lean over the edge further reaching for her still, tears streaming down his face, she was human and they had yet to create a bond for him to feel her even the slightest other than the mating pull. Suddenly he felt a sharp pain enter his chest as the two wolves drug him away from the edge.
He screamed out in pure agony, tearing at his chest and collapsed onto his stomach as the agonizing tearing pain racked through his body, the pain almost forcing him to shift. He threw his head back and let loose a long and loud agonizing mournful howl full of pain and loss, signifying something terrible happened. The pain worsened forcing him to full shift transcending the lycan stage and threw him into the body of a wolf that stood at 5'5", any other wolf that were in human form were also forced to shift and they stood at 3'5". The alpha crawled back over towards the small ledge and lay down staring into the mist below, whining in pain. The other wolves sat around their alpha , pushing their noses against him trying to comfort him. He didn't even budge whining ever so softly. Down below on another smaller ledge lay Rosaleigh, beneath the mist with a broken ankle, a fractured calf and knee cap, a bleeding head , and a slight concussion.
She shot up with a gasp of a new life. The pain rushed back, searing throughout her body. She couldn't hold back the screams any longer as they ripped their way free. After the initial shock, she began to look around and once she realized where she was another scream tore from her raw throat containing pure terror.
