Mother
Cover for the chapter (took FOREVER to find a pic)
Hinata, 5 years old
"Good job Hina, but try sharpening those edges." Hikari said while looking over Hinata's shoulder.
"H-Hai, mother." a small, timid girl with midnight blue hair and rosy red cheeks addressed as Hinata (Hina by her mother) said with drops of sweat coming down her face.
It was 4 am and Hinata and her mother were practicing their forging of weapons. It sounds like a crazy time to wake up for a 5-year-old, especially for just making weapons but little Hinata actually insisted that her mother teaches her how to forge tools so that she could put the family name to honor. .even if she couldn't become a real blacksmith.
So every day they woke up at this time an got to work. One day Hikari decided that they would just talk that they.
"Hinata when I was young the only thing I ever wanted to be was a blacksmith,"
Flashback/ Hikari:10 years old
"Papa, When I grow up I wanna become a blacksmith. I love making weapons and it makes me feel useful and I have so many amazing ideas." little Hikari said with her eyes shining.
Hikari's father my lifelong dream he looked at me with eyes full of sorrow. "Hika, I'm truly sorry, but women can't become blacksmiths."
Upon hearing those words Hikari's eye's lost their shine and started emitting tears. She looked up at her father's, trying to find a sign saying that he was lying. Looking into his eyes again and then ran to her room crying.
The next day at lunch she went to her friends Mikoto Uchiha and Kushina Uzumaki talking about how sexist the laws of their time were.
"Hey how about we start a campaign?" the red-haired kunoichi exclaimed
"A campaign?" Mikoto questioned.
Hikari just lifted her head in interest as Kushina continued, "Yeah, a campaign fighting against all these sexist laws! Hey Mikoto, your apart of the royal family right?"
"Yeah but-"
"Great! We can gather up a bunch of people who feel the same and then get others to support us!"
"But, Kushina we're just kids." Mikoto reasoned
"Yeah were kids of noble families," Kushina said, "The priest," she sais pointing to herself "The Royal Blacksmith" then points to Hikari, " and the King!" She said while hugging Mikoto.
Then Hikari finally spoke up, " The same king who made the law in the first place."
Kushina looked at her and said, " stop being such a party pooper. We'll put the members of women in our campaign some jobs that only men can get, then show them how good of a job that they can do."
"Hey dobe," Mikoto said, "How are we gonna do that? They're jobs only men can get. Next time you try to come up with an idea try to actually put some brainpower into it."
"Oh Shut up teme!"
"Dobe!"
"Baka!"
"Loser!"
"Douchehbag!"
"Knucklehead!
"Stuck up jer-"
"Wait!" Hikari interrupted, " Maybe we can! We could disguise ourselves as men!"
Kushina stuck her tongue out at Mikoto and said "That's what I was thinking too"
" Yeah right, idiot. But that's actually a really good idea Hikari but we can't get jobs until we're older so let's just focus on getting more members"
As they were walking home Kushina stopped abruptly looked at the others and smirked. "Before we head home we should come up with a name for our rebellion. How about Kushina and co.?" She said having her hands make an imaginary rainbow.
"Hn, that's actually a good idea, if we get caught, you get to take the blame," Mikoto said while smirking.
"Uh, never mind, how about we try something else?"
"How about The Kouichi's of Kintou?" Hikari stated.
"That's a great idea Hikari!" Mikoto gushed
"I could have done come up with that if I tried," Kushina mumbled.
"The it's settled, we'll call our group 'Konuichi's of Kintou' on three." Mikoto said while putting her hand in the middle, "One."
Kushina sighed and did the same, "Two"
Hikari looked at their hands then finally put hers in saying "Three!"
They all looked at each other and said, "Konuichi's of Kintou!"
Everyone looked at them like they were crazy as the girls blushed at their sudden outburst then ran home.
End of Flashback
"You really did that mama?" Hinata said with wonder in her eyes.
"Yep, a year or so we're going to finish our plan. They've entrusted me with making the speech. Hinata if I don't accomplish my goal I think I'll pass it off to you", Hikari said.
"You mean the speech?" Hinata replied.
"No, This shinobi world we live in is filled with hate and one day I hope to rid the world of that hate. Once that's gone I'll fill it with peace and equality, and if I don't live long enough for that to happen, I hope to pass on my dream to you." Hikari said with a smile.
Hinata looked up at her mom with more hope than Hikari had ever seen in her life. "Mama, if you don't end up accomplishing your goal, I will gladly accomplish it for you," Hinata said while holding her pinkie out.
"Hm, my little Hina, make sure you keep to your promise" Hikari replied while intertwining her finger with Hinata's. As she tried to let go Hinata gripped it tighter and said,
" But promise me that I won't have to."
Hikari chuckled and said, " I promise."
.
.
.
She lied.
Kintou is a way to say "equality" in Japanese
