Land of the Wave: 4 pm Jirayas POV

I cross a long, solitary bridge that connects the small Village Hidden in the Waves to the rest of the world. A plaque at the end of the bridge reads: "The Great Naruto Bridge: Named for the guardian of this bridge and savior of the Hidden Wave".
"So, I guess Naruto did more than I originally supposed." I think to myself as I stroll through the streets trying to find the nearest place with sake. As I walk, I feel a flare in chakra and a vibration in the earth beneath me. That must be him. I stroll into the forest of the massive island and find a group dirty orange clad teenagers fighting each other with various techniques.

"Well hello there Naruto. It's certainly been a while hasn't it." I say as I casually approach the battle-royal of Narutos beating each other into oblivion.

"Oh hi Pervy Sage! What kept you? Were you staring at the girls in the hot springs again?" Naruto asks as he comes out of the clutter.

"No Naruto! This time I came straight here I promise! After I heard the news I simply couldn't leave my pupil out alone!" I answer.

"I see," says Naruto, "but luckily I wasn't completely alone. Yorokobi and Kura came with!"

"Kura?" I ask, "Who's that?"

"That would be me." A low voice answers as a man with long, spikey maroon hair and short whiskers emerges from a nearby cluster of trees.

"What village are you from? I don't see a headband!" I say defensively.

"Relax, Pervy Sage. He's not from a village. He's been my best friend for years. Plus, none of the three of us belong to a village anymore." Naruto cuts in.

"But if you must know, Jiraya, I am Kurama, the Nine Tailed Fox in human form. Don't worry, I won't harm you or anyone else. I've been giving Naruto here advice and training since he was 5 or 6." Kurama informs me. I don't feel at all comfortable  with the idea of a tailed beast walking around in my area unchained, but I suppose I'll respect Naruto's wishes.

"Alright Naruto, time for training." I say, and with this, we begin an intense training regime consisting of bulking up, building chakra, taijutsu and reflexes, genjutsu and kekei-genkai, kenjutsu  (sword training), and ninjutsu and developing new techniques. We train in 3.5 hour sessions, with 1 hour breaks for meals, mostly ramen. Kura has weight jutsus on everything Naruto owns. Every now and again an ANBU or ROOT will find us, in which case they are swiftly taken care of. After a year, Naruto, through shadow clone training techniques, is learing and developing at an incredibly accelerated rate. Due to the vast expansion of his chakra reserves and arsenal of ninjutsu, he has gained multiple new chakra affinities and can combine them to make other sub-affinities. He has also incorporated the Rasengan into all these affinities, as well as fitting it in with the Nine Tails Chakra. Yorokobi has been with us every step of the way supporting Naruto, and is even learning some simple techniques of her own. As I reflect on the payout of this past year of intense training, a teenaged voice, filled with voice-cracks calls out to us.

"Just who are you guys? And what are you doing being so loud out in the forest?"

Naruto perks up at this, and quickly summons his newly designed mask. I guess we forgot to put up the landscape masking jutsu today.

"Uuuuuhhh we're just some local ninja looking for work." Naruto replies, "If your village is willing to find and organize missions for us, we will train your village to be ninja of their own."

The boy's eyes light up.

"Ninjas like Naruto Uzumaki?"

"I... suppose?" replies Naruto confusedly.

"Yay! Let me ask my father, the village leader. I'll be back later today!"

"One more thing, kid. What's your name?"

"Inari."

And so started Naruto's ascent to the SS rank, and to the most powerful ninja in history. That day also marked the beginning of the Hidden Wave's self reliance and eventual expansion.
