Willpower
A/N I know last chapter was mostly romance but this chapter is back to what you really want to see- blood, gore and violence! You will not be disappointed!
And if that's not what you really want to see, after I finish this story I will be starting a less bloody Ninjago book, as well as the sequel to this one. So stay tuned!
Nya's P.O.V.
We have to prevent any more attacks.
Kai is okay. But Skylor, or Zane, or Pixal or Lloyd might not be as lucky. And since it seems that Cole is extremely hard to fight off, basically the only way we can do that is by finding him.
So, first we have to track down Cole. Skylor, Lloyd, Zane and Pixal have been looking for him all morning, everywhere on the ship. They're supposed to text me every 10 minutes to guarantee they're safe. Zane was doing doctor stuff to Kai but when he finished he joined them. So now I'm watching Kai and Jay is staying here because he was too scared to go off alone. The nice, peaceful silence I enjoyed from this morning has been thrown out the window in favor of Jay's nervous chattering, renewed with vigor. "IwonderwhereColeisIhopehe'snotwatchinguswouldn'titbecreepyifhewaswatchingus?" Jay says from a chair in the corner of the room. Kai is just laying there with a "not impressed" look on his face. He woke up a few minutes ago and it turns out he can't talk right now, just like how Jay used to be. Deciding I don't want to listen to the jabbering any longer, I turn to Jay. "What was your dream?" I ask bluntly. He stops talking with a startled face. "My dream? What dream?" "You know what dream. The one you had last night..." I say, raising my eyebrows. "Maybe there were some clues about what Cole is planning in it." I omit the fact that my dream did just that. "Oh. It-it wasn't important. Just death and stuff." he says, looking down. "Any information could be important." "Um, it was a wedding." "Whose wedding?" "Our wedding. Then Cole's." "And?" I prompt. "Okay, Cole killed me and you didn't do anything about it. Then you married him and I just died. Is that what you want to hear?" Jay says with sudden frustration and then wipes away a tear. I just swallow, feeling suddenly bad about being so insensitive. I wouldn't like it if Jay started prying about my dream. It was too upsetting.
I'm distracted by someone tapping on my arm. Turning around, I see that Kai is making a motion. "You have something to say?" I ask and he nods. Looking around Kai's room, I spot a notebook and pen. I get up and grab them, then bring them back to him. Kai smiles and writes thanks. "What is it?" I query. How did you know he had a dream? "We were in the same room last night. I thought you knew that." Kai frowns. No, Skylor forgot to mention that little fact, he writes. Were you at least 5 feet apart at all times? I sigh. Kai's just been hurt by his former friend, now turned demon, who is terrorizing our team, and he still manages to go into overprotective brother mode. I'm about to reply when my phone buzzes. "Oh, there's the 'ten minutes' texts." I say. "Here's Zane, Pixal, Lloyd. Wait. Where's Skylor?" Kai sits up quickly. Skylor hasn't replied yet? His pen scratches. "Actually, Skylor didn't send one last time either." I notice. My blood runs cold. Has Cole attacked her?
I stand up too fast, knocking over my chair. "I'm gonna find her. Jay, stay here with Kai." I say, and then take off from the room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's like my dream.
Skylor is in the hallway, curled up with pain. Wounds in the same places as Kai, but messier. Harsher. And she's still awake. Her amber eyes are filled with tears of pain, but she's not screaming. She can't. She can only fight to stay conscious. She's so determined not to pass out. Skylor has always been a fighter.
I'm not going to freak out. Or cry. Or scream. I already did that. I'm just going to calmly text Zane and tell him to get his metal butt over here so that he can fix Skylor. Why is my hand shaking? I don't feel it shaking. Yet I can't seem to hit the right letters on the keyboard. I will be strong. I will not let Cole scare me any more. I will show him who's boss.
I will frantically try to stop the blood spilling from Skylor's wounds.
I will see the note scratched into the wall and read it.
This is what happens when you don't see reason. People get hurt. I'm still waiting for you to change your mind. Skylor can be stubborn all she wants, but none of you are strong enough. No matter how hard you fight, I will always be the strongest.
Love, Cole
I am going to fight, Cole. I may not be able to hurt you physically, but I will not let you take over my mind. I will come out of this stronger than you. I will win.
"Don't underestimate me!" I shout to anything, to everything. "I know you can hear me! You will never break me, Cole."
Then I kneel down at Skylor's side and use my sleeve to staunch the blood. I put my phone up to my ear and call the first number that will be useful, Jay. "Hello?" he says. "I'm in the hall near the training room. Skylor's bleeding. Send help." I tell him blankly. Then I hang up.
Come on. You won't die, Skylor. Cole will not break me. Never ever.
Skylor moves her hand weakly. I think she's trying to point at something behind me. Whatever it is, she seems scared. Could it be Cole?
I turn my torso to see something else carved into the wall.
Never say never, Nya.
Love, Cole
