Who Killed Arina

Evelyn

(The Next Morning)

"Pheonix, good morning? Where's Arina?

"Yesterday's news, Evelyn," Pheonix hissed as he poured himself a cup of coffee. "Let's just say that she wouldn't know loyalty if it smacked her in the face. That rotten whore tried to force herself on your husband, Evelyn. Damian told me everything,"

"And I thought I was a good character judge this time. I am happy that Damian remained faithful," I smiled.

"You are a True Black Dragon, Evelyn. But death is too much of a mercy. You won't be seeing that Russian bitch again. Plenty of fish in the sea," Pheonix said. "Are you feeling well today?"

"I'm good," I nodded. "I'm guessing you are on duty on this fine morning,"

"Yep, why don't we take Ezra out for lunch," Pheonix offered.

"I'm a bit tired, Pheonix. I mean, I think it would be best if we stay home today," I said. "I don't feel well,"

"Alright, if you change your mind come and find me. I need to speak to Damian, I'll catch up with you,"

I heard a buzz on the table and saw a message in my notification. I opened it and softly gasped at the newest text from the mysterious person threatening me.

Tick tock, tick tock. Your time is running out, Evelyn! You'll join your parents soon.

Damian

"Damian, I'm letting you know that Arina is gone and out of our lives forever,"

"The best news I've heard today," I smiled. "What about Evelyn? She has been acting strange lately. Are my suspicions warranted?"

"Yes, something is bothering Evelyn; she refuses to leave the house. Blaming everything on sickness or pregnancy. I suggested bringing Ezra out for lunch, but she said no. Evelyn is afraid of something," Pheonix said.

"What has Evelyn got to be scared of? Everything threatening her life is dead, fated to be forgotten in time," I said.

"Beats the hell out of me," Pheonix shrugged.

I dismissed Pheonix and told him to do whatever he wanted for the day while I checked on Evelyn. Evelyn was resting on our bed. "Are you okay, Evelyn?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," Evelyn smiled.

"You don't seem fine. But I will let you rest. I'm going to meet with a suppiler," I said.

"Damian, please don't leave, I'm scared," Evelyn grasped my hand.

"Scared of what, Evelyn?" I grunted.

"I meant sick!" Evelyn was quick to correct herself, but she had already screwed up. "I'm sick, not scared,"

"I fucking knew it. Start talking, Evelyn, or so help me, god! What has you so scared Evelyn, have I not elimated all your fears?"

"You have, but as soon as I have the peace I've been waiting for, it was swiftly taken away," Evelyn hands me her phone. "I've been getting these weird text messages from an unknown person,"

"How long have you been getting these?" I asked calmly.

"A few days," Evelyn hesitated.

"RAGH, Fucking hell, Evelyn! When are you going to realize that this isn't a fucking game? You should have told me the truth when you got the first message. Don't leave this damn house until I get this sorted," I slammed the door behind me.

I called Phoenix, Parker, and Gregory to come to my office and update them on what I have learned.

"Good, everyone is here. Evelyn has been getting messages from an unknown number, and it's bad enough that I think we need to move her to a safe house. Parker, are you sure that we killed all members of the Setaros?" I asked.

"Very sure, so whoever is sending these texts is not Setaro. Could it be someone from Evelyn's past?" Parker said.

"What do you mean?" I tilted my head.

"Maybe this has nothing to do with The Black Dragon at all," Greg spoke for Parker.

"Unlikely, there was Dylan, but he's dead," I crossed my arms.

"What about his family, if there is anyone left of it," Pheonix said. "Someone that could be looking for revenge and are using Evelyn to get to you,"

"I don't know about that, but it's worth looking into. Gregory, will you look into it for me? Parker, you're in charge of protecting Evelyn and our unborn child. Until I say otherwise Evelyn doesn't leave this house,"

"Got it," Parker said.

"Pheonix, call in more men. I want extra security at the gate and around the grounds. No one comes in, and no one goes out without my say-so," I said. "I will trace the messages and see if I can determine where they're coming from,"

When I adjourned the meeting, I returned to my room. Evelyn was waiting for me in bed. She was nervous and ashamed when I looked her in the eyes. "Damian, can we talk?"

"About what, Evelyn? It's been a very long day, and I want to take a shower and sleep. I wish you had told me about the texts, Evelyn. Not telling me about these texts not only put your life in danger, but the life of my baby," I sneered.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking," Evelyn looked away.

"You never think, Evelyn, that's the damn problem. I'll see you in the morning before I leave to clean up this new mess," I left Evelyn alone in our bedroom as I showered and went to bed. Evelyn was already asleep.

I woke up the following morning with my phone vibrating on the nightstand. "Boss, wake up and turn on the TV," Pheonix said.

"Your waking me up to watch the damn news?" I growled.

"Just turn it on," Pheonix scoffed.

I turned on the TV. "Welcome back to Fox News, and this morning, we are bringing you news on a body that was found last night in New York City. It has been confirmed that the body found is that of Arina Abbot. The New York Police Department is looking for anyone with information to come forward. Miss Abbot had been shot, and her body dumped where it could have been found easily," the news anchor said.

I shut off the TV. "Son of a bitch, Pheonix, meet me in the office now," I said.

"Arina's dead?!" Evelyn gasped.

"It would seem so," I crossed my arms.

"Did you kill her?" Evelyn asked.

I laughed. "If I killed Arina, she would have never been found,"

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Evelyn scoffed.

I rolled my eyes and walked away from Evelyn. I put on some clothes and waited to see Pheonix waiting for me in my office as I requested. "Did you kill Arina?" I bluntly said.

"Yeah, I kill all the women I break up with," Pheonix said sarcastically. "No, I didn't kill her,"

"Well if we didn't kill Arina then who did?" I sat down in my chair.

"The same person sending Evelyn the texts?" Pheonix pondered.

"I don't know," I don't know.

"Did you have any luck tracing the sender?" Pheonix asked.

"No, each text came from a different prepay number and none of them are registered to anyone. Report to me if you find anything. I'll call you when I find something myself," I said.

"I will let you know when I find something," Pheonix left my office.

Pheonix kicks out Arina, but she ends up dead. If I didn't know any better, Arina was sent to infiltrate the Black Dragons, but by whom? I went downstairs to the kitchen, where Evelyn was feeding Ezra. "Did you eat, Evelyn?"

"I'm not hungary right now. What exactly happened to Arina?" IEvelyn asked nervously.

"I don't know. Let's not talk about this in front of Ezra please," I said.

"I think this is the first time you said please," Evelyn scoffed.

"Not today, sweetheart," I glared at her. "Why are you dressed?" I saw that she was wearing regular maternity clothes.

"Shopping. I'm going to get a few things for our daughter," Evelyn hissed.

"Are you trying to be funny?" I scoffed.

"Hell no! God forbid anyone might try to crack a joke in the Halliwell residence," Evelyn said.

"Are you trying to piss me off today?" I grunted.

"Are you trying to piss me off today?" Evelyn grunted back.

"Don't test me, babe," I hissed.

"I know that many people fear the big, bad Damian Halliwell. But let me tell you a little secret, husband. I'm not one of them, and I also thought I could buy some sexy new clothes. Something that might entice ones husband to keep his wife satisfied," Evelyn flicked her hair back.

"I've never had any complaints about my performance before, honey," I said.

"Well to be fair, babe, it's not like you've been performing much these days," Evelyn rolled her eyes.

"You're pregnant, constantly tired!" I growled.

"Well I'm not tired now!" Evelyn yelled.

"All you had to do was ask, now talk off those so I can ravish your body," I purred in her ear.

(One Hour Later)

"Did you find out anything about what happened to Arina?" I asked Pheonix over the phone.

"Well, Arina's not a damned attorney, that's for sure. I can't find anything about her; the record is clean. She has no family to speak of, it's like she never existed," Pheonix explained.

"So we're still on square one? Fucking perfect. It's time to move Evelyn and Ezra to the safe house; we'll move them tonight. Let the men know the same procedure as always. Four cars and a couple of decoys," I said.

"On it," Pheonix hung up.
