The Wedding
Damian
I stared at the photo of Robert and Evelyn's ex-boyfriend, Dylan Harmon. "Boss, will you tell us what Parker learned about Robert?" Pheonix said.
I showed them the picture.
"I don't understand, what are we looking at?" Artem shrugged.
"Dylan, that bastard!" Pheonix clenched his teeth. "What the hell is he doing with Robert?"
"Good question; I knew I should've asked you to kill that fucker when I had the chance. They have to be working together, but who the hell are they working for?" I said.
"Boss, you know you have to bring the wedding forward now," Pheonix said.
"I know; we will have it as soon as possible. Pheonix, bring in more men for the wedding. I want security tight in case anything happens," I furrowed my eyebrows. "If these fuckers are planning something, they could attack at the wedding,"
"Yes sir," Pheonix nodded.
"And I don't want Evelyn to know about this. I have no doubt that Evelyn will protect Ezra when it comes down to it, but if she finds out about this, she will do something stupid," I said,
"What if Evelyn invited Robert to the wedding?" Artem said.
"Let Evelyn invite Robert; it's better to have him where we can see him," I responded.
(The Next Day)
I was doing my part to prepare for the wedding so I could get married earlier than expected. I needed to let Evelyn know about the rush. I was walking to the pavilion when I called Evelyn.
"Hey Damian, what's going on?" Evelyn answered.
"Evelyn, can you meet me in the garden?" I said. "I have to talk to you about something importent,"
"Is something wrong?" Evelyn said worryingly.
"Everything is fine, just come out," I said.
"Okay, I'll be there in a few minutes," Evelyn said and hung up.
I waited for Evelyn, and I didn't have to wait long. "I'm here, what did you want to talk about?" Evelyn said.
"We have to bring the wedding forward," I said bluntly.
"Why? What's going on?" Evelyn said.
"Nothing for you to worry about, but the wedding is in two days," I said.
"No way, Damian, this is too short notice. Sofia returned to LA yesterday, and she's my maid of honor," Evelyn scoffed. "Unbelievable!"
"I will fly Sofia in for the wedding," I said.
"NO, we are sticking to the original date,"
"Will you stop being so damn complicated? We're getting married in two days and that's final!" I yelled.
"No, we're not!" Evelyn yelled. "And you can't make me!" Evelyn walked past me.
Good God, Damian, you couldn't have knocked up someone who can follow orders. No, I get stuck with the most enormous pain in the ass on the planet. I need a drink.
Evelyn
I slammed my bedroom door behind me and sat on my bed, angry beyond belief. I felt a slight dizzy spell and felt a little nauseous, but it quickly passed. I sat down on my bed. Damian doesn't care about me; I need to accept that. I felt a slight dizzy spell and felt a little nauseous, but it quickly passed. This wedding is about Ezra and his safety, nothing more. I have to stop letting my feelings get in the way. I have to make some calls and tell them of the last-minute changes. "Robert, it's me. Are you still in New York?"
"I'm still in New York, beautiful; what's up?" Robert said,"
"Damian and I fought because he wanted to bring the wedding forward," I said.
"What would he want to do that?" Robert said. "It's only two weeks until the wedding?"
"He wants to get married in two days," I said.
"WHAT, TWO DAYS?! That's insane; what happened that made him want to move the wedding forward," Rober gasped.
"I don't know; he never tells me anything. I tried telling him I wanted to wait, but he got angry. I'm going to say, out of his way until he calms down," I said.
"Wanna meet me for coffee to talk about this in person?" Robert said.
"Yeah, I would like that, what time suits you?" I smiled.
"How about an hour?" Robert said.
"Perfect, see you then," I said.
I pulled myself together and got dressed. I saw Damian talking to Artem in the living room. "Damian, I'm going out for coffee,"
I could hear Damian scoff slightly as he rolled his eyes. "With who?"
"Robert," I said.
"Yeah, you're not going. Artem, you sort out the shipment that coming in tonight," Damian said to Artem.
"Excuse me, I'm not going?!" I scoffed.
"For fuck sake, Evelyn, can't you see I'm busy?" Damian growled.
"I'm going to meet Robert," I said.
"Fine, Pheonix will go with you," Damian said.
"I'm not bring Pheonix with me," I crossed my arms.
"Then you are not going to meet Robert for coffee. Artem, we'll finish this later," Damian said, and Artem walked off, leaving us to continue our screaming match. "Evelyn, it's not safe to be out alone right now,"
"Unless you tell me what is happening, I will meet Robert," I threatened. "ALONE!" Damian glared at me, "Well?"
"You're pushing your luck, Evelyn," Damian grunted.
"I'll take my chances, what's the worst that can happen?" I smirked.
"You really don't want to find out, babe," Damian growled. "I've been easy on you so far, Evelyn, but my patience is wearing thin,"
"You owe me, Damian," I poked his chest.
"I don't owe you shit!," Damian said.
"I gave up the life I built in LA to come here to keep Ezra safe. And Robert is one of the new friends I have left.
"Very well, I've reason to believe whoever has the bounty on Ezra's head is planning to attack soon. I received new information not too long ago, but the point is that it's safer for you and Ezra that we marry as soon as possible," Damian explained at long last.
"I'm not ready for this. I thought I was, but I'm not!" I started to lose my breathing control. Damina embraced me, and I feel like I am gaining back control.
"Careful, I don't want you passing out," Damian said.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what's wrong with me lately," I started crying.
"Don't cry, I promise you that this will all be over soon," Damian said. He kissed my forehead when we left each other's embrace. Damian kissed me again. "Now you understand why we have to have the wedding in two days?"
"I guess," I said softly.
"As soon as the wedding ends, you, me, and Ezra will go to Russia for a month. It's time you met the mother's side of the family," Damian smiled.
"Really, Damian? Russia?" I gasped.
"Yeah, we must get out of here until things settle down. People will be expecting us to go on a honeymoon and you and Ezra can meet my family in Russia. Artem will fly with us," Damian said.
"Well, I'll be looking forward to meeting them," I smiled.
"Call Sofia and tell her that the wedding has been moved, and I'll have Parker put her in the jet. I have Pheonix as my best man, and Artem is my groomsman, so you'll need one more bridesmaid," Damian said.
"Tala, she has always been good to me," I said.
"I'll tell her," Damian nodded.
"I'll let Ezra know about the trip to Russia, I know he will be excited to go," I hugged Damian. "Thank you,"
(Two Days Later)
Two days went by quickly, and today is the wedding day. I woke up early and met with Tala and Sofia, and they looked beautiful in their blue dresses with gold collars. "You both look amazing," I smiled.
"Oh, Evelyn, I can't believe you're getting married today," Sofia said in awe. "I had a hard time explaining to my boss that the wedding date was moved up sooner, but she came around,"
"It's fascinating. Now go get dressed, or we'll be late," Tala said.
I nodded and put on my white dress with golden rose patterns that spread across the dress. "You look shunning!" Tala said.
"I could cry right now," Sofia started sobbing.
"I feel like I'm about to throw up," I placed my hand on my stomach.
"Just take deep breaths, and you'll be fine; let's go," Tala said.
The music started playing when I walked down the aisle; Damian smiled. "You are beautiful, Evelyn," Damian said.
"You don't look so bad yourself," I giggled.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the sacred union of Evelyn and Damian. We stand here to honor and celebrate the love shared between these two people as they come together to start their new lives with a solemn vow, surrounded by their closest family and friends," The priest said.
The ceremony was beautiful, and if I didn't know the truth, I would have thought it was real regardless.
"What God has joined together, let no man pull apart. Damian, do you take Evelyn to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?" The priest said.
"I do," Damian smiled.
"Evelyn, do you take Damian to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?" The priest said to me.
"I do," I nodded.
"By the power vested in me, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.
Damian and I kissed to seal the wedding, but when our lips parted, I heard gunshots. "EVELYN, GET DOWN!" Damian shouted.
I heard gunshots, and all hell broke loose. I could see all The Black Dragon members at the wedding drawing guns, and they started firing. I saw Pheonix running with Ezra in his arms, shielding him from the bullets flying everywhere. What the hell is going on? Are we under attack? It's only now that I notice the blood, so much blood. Where the hell is it coming from?
Suddenly, my world went black.
